1.Trans fatty acids and metabolic syndrome
Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2010;26(9):827-829
There is a close relationship between high trans fatty acids intake and occurrence of metabolic syndrome. Trans fatty acids intake may lead to metabolic disorders. It affects lipid level, induces visceral obesity and insulin resistance, triggers systemic inflammation, and significantly increases cardiometabolic risks. If the chain of trans fatty acids-metabolic syndrome-cardiovascular disease is understood, a new effective way to prevent metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular events may be provided.
2.Effect of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors on prostate cancer
International Journal of Surgery 2017;44(3):212-216
Erectile dysfunction was one of the most frequently postoperative complications after radical prostatectomy, which has been deeply concentrated by patients and urologists, along with more and more people were diagnosed as localized prostate cancer.Widely being used for erectile dysfunction after radical prostatectomy, the efficacy and safety of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors have been confirmed by many clinical studies. However, the influences of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors on the occurrence and progression of cancer are still not completely revealed at present.Additionally, the efficiency of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors on biochemical recurrence after radical prostatectomny is still controversial, though it has been demonstrated that phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors is not associated with the occunrence of prostate cancer based on recent clinical studies. We will review the possibly mechanisms of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors in oncologic occurrence, especially in the occurrence of prostate cancer and its biochemical recurrence after radical prostatectomy.

Objective To present 3 cases of neurilemmoma of adrenal gland. Methods The clinical pathological manifestations, diagnosis and treatment of 3 cases of neurilemmoma of adrenal gland were reviewed. Results Tumor resection was undertaken in all the three and the diagnosis was assessed on pathological study. All the 3 patients have been in good condition and tumor free on 3~5 years of follow up. Conclusions Tumor resection is the treatment of choice with good prognosis.Radiotherapy may be considered as an adjuvant treatment for malignant ones.Definite diagnosis depends on pathological studies.

Purpose:Evaluate the operation methods and prognosis following Ivor Lewis subtotal esophagectomy with two-field lymphadenectomy for carcinoma of the middle and lower third of the oesophagus. Methods:From March 1997 to March 2001, A total of 356 consecutive patients underwent Ivor Lewis esophagogastrectomy with two-field radical lymphadenectomy for carcinoma of the middle and lower third of the oesophagus ,The patients received cupula of pleura or cervical esophagogastroanastomosis with mechanical methods through two incisions (right posterolateral thoracotomy and upper abdominal). Results:The post-operative mortality was 0. anastomotic leakages occurred in 3 patients(0.8%). Gastric leaks for stress gastric ulcer occurred in 2 patients (0.6%). Chylothorax occurred in 2 patients(0.6%). Hoarseness occurred in 5 patients(1.4%),4 cases recuperated after 3 months. Barium swallowed postsurgery through anastomosis and pylorus went through smoothly.Full follow-up was 97.2%. Median survival for operative survivors was 2.6 years (range,61 days to 5 years). The overall 3-year survival rate was 74.5% .The overall 5-year survival rate was 55.49%,it was 94.2% for those in stage Ⅰ,81.5% for those in stage Ⅱa,78.3% for patients in stage Ⅱb,36% for those in stage Ⅲ and 0% for patients in stage Ⅳ. Conclusions:Ivor Lewis esophagogastrectomy with two-field radical lymphadenectomy for carcinoma of the middle and lower third of the oesophagus is a safe operation. There is the low post-operative morbidity. Long-term survival have been improved.

AIM: To investigate the effects of ErbB2 overexpression on growth and invasiveness in cultured MCF-7 cell line. METHODS: Retrovirus containing ErbB2 gene was transfected into MCF-7 cells and ErbB2 expression was detected by Western blotting. Proliferation and invasive assays were carried out. Cells overexpressed ErbB2 and its control, AP2, were used in the experiment. RESULTS: ErbB2 was overexpressed in MCF-7 cells after transfection. In vitro, cells overexpressed ErbB2 showed highly proliferated and highly invasive characteristics compared to the control cells. CONCLUSION: Overexpression of ErbB2 promotes cell proliferation and enhances invasiveness in MCF-7 cells. Inhibition of signaling induced by ErbB2 might be a novel strategy for the therapeutics of cancer with ErbB2 overexpression.

Chinese Journal of Comparative Medicine 2015;(10):71-74
The host protein SAMHD1 has been identified as the first mammalian deoxynucleoside triphosphate triphosphohydrolase (dNTPase), which blocks the infection of HIV-1 in non-cycling immune cells.SAMHD1 protein is highly expressed in human myeloid-lineage cells and resting CD4+T lymphocytes, which restricts HIV-1 replication by hydrolyzing the cellular dNTPs, thus inhibiting reverse transcription and viral complementary DNA ( cDNA) synthesis. Recent studies have revealed that SAMHD 1 plays an important role in virus whole life by promoting HIV -1 genome recombination, degenerating viral genome RNA and restricting virus transmission between cells .In this review, these progress on SAMHD1 research are summarized and the mechanisms by which SAMHD 1 mediates retroviral restriction are analyzed .

Aim To study the protective effect of caffeic acid on brain damage induced by chronic aluminum overload in rats. Methods The brain injury model of rats was established via intragastric administration of aluminum gluconate(element aluminum 200 mg?kg-1) once a day,5 d a week for 20 weeks. The 5-LO inhibitor caffeic acid(30 mg?kg-1,10 mg?kg-1) was intragastrically administered 1 h after aluminum administration.Pathomorphological changes of hippocampal neuron and the spatial learning and memory function were observed. The MAO-B,AChE and SOD activities, and the MDA contents of brain tissue in rats were measured. Results Chronic aluminum overload could markedly induce spatial learning and memory function impairment, and hippocampal neuronal injury in rats. The MAO-B and AChE activities, and the MDA content significantly increased, while SOD activities significantly decreased in chronic aluminum overload rats. The administration of the caffeic acid can significantly prevent rats from learning and memory function impairments and hippocampal neuronal death, and blunted the decrease of SOD activities and increased MDA contents induced by chronic aluminum overload in rats.Caffeic acid also obviously decreased the MAO-B activities and AChE activities of chronic aluminum overload rats. Conclusion Administration of caffeic acid can prevent the rat brain from damage induced by chronic aluminum overload.

Objective To study the expressions of phosphatese and tensin homolog deletedin chromosom ten (PTEN),Fas/FasL system and matrix metalloproteinnases-2 (MMP-2) in human gastric cancer. Methods Seventy-five cases of gastric carcinoma were selected from paraffin wax embodied specimens with full clinicopathological data, and another 15 cases of normal gastric mucosa specimens were selected as the control group.SP immunohistochemistry was used to measure the expressions of PTEN,Fas/FasL and MMP-2 in them. The data was statistically analyzed by ?2 test and relative analysis. Results The expressions of PTEN,Fas/FasL and MMP-2 were correlated with the lymphatic metastasis, degree of infiltration, clinical TMN stage and pathological histological differentiated degree of gastric cancer (P
