2.Clinical and histological features of colon polyps

A study on 97 patients with polyps diagnosed by endoscopy in central army hospital during 2000-2002 has shown that male/female (69/28), average ages (50), patients with one polyp, 2 polyps, 3 polyps, 4 polyps, 7 polyps and 8 polyps were 78, 15, 1, 1,1 and (1) respectively. The symptoms comprised abdominal pain (56%), dyspepsia (50%) blood and mucosa in feces (13%). Polyps concentrated in peripheral colon (43.80%). The rate of patients diagnosed early accounted for 4.2%

3.Nasal papilome: pathohistological and clinical manifestations

Study on 24 patients who suffer from nasal papilome treated at E.N.T hospital from Jun 2002 to August 2003. The result showed that: inversion papilome: 12 patients, mushroom-like papilome:10 patients and cylinder cell papilome: 2 patients. The original source of papilome sinus xoang is the effect of sinustits cause by bacterium, virus or allergy. There is no relation between macro- and microscopic pathological findings. Rhinocleisis oftent occur in inversion papilome group, nasal heamorrhage often occured in mushroom-like papilome.

4.Two Cases of Bilateral Antrochoanal Polyps in Children.

Antrochoanal polyp (ACP) is usually unilateral and occurs most commonly in children. However, bilateral ACP in children is extremely rare. In this paper, we report two such cases of bilateral antrochoanal polyps removed by functional endoscopic sinus surgery and discuss the etiology, diagnosis and management of nasal polyps in children.

6.Colorectal Polyps : Endoscopic Diagnosis and Polypectomy.

Acolonic polyp is a circumscribed mass of tissue that projects above the surface of the intestinal mucosa, which may be classified as either pedunculated or sessile, depending on whether or not it contains a discrete stalk, and according to the size and type. It has been believed that colorectal cancer evolves from a precursor lesion, the adenomatous polyp. The introduction of colonoscopy in the early 1970s, followed by the demonstration of the feasibility of colonoscopic polypectomy, provided the technology for the application of this concept to clinical practice. Colorectal cancer can be prevented through examination of the entire colon and identification of a polyp to be resected. According to the National Polyp Study in the USA, the incidence of colorectal cancer is reduced by 76~90% following colonoscopic polypectomy. Colonoscopy and polypectomy, when performed by adequately trained physicians, is a safe and effective procedure that can decrease deaths resulting from colorectal cancer.

7.Hysteroscopy Guided Diagnosis and Treatment: An Analysis of 8 Years Experience.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the diagnosis and treatment of hysteroscopy and its complications. METHODS: Reviewed 415 cases treated by hysteroscopy during 1994.9-2003.2 at Ajou University Hospital. RESULTS: Major indications were infertility (321 cases, 77.3%) and gynecologic indications such as myoma, polyps etc (94 cases, 22.7%). Hysteroscopic findings were polyp (192 cases, 46.3%), synechiae (72 cases, 17.3%), submucosal myoma (21 cases, 5.1%) and uterine anomaly (13 cases, 3.1%). Complications were 2 cases of uterine perforations and one case of bowel injury. CONCLUSION: Hysteroscopy is a safe, minimally invasive procedure with a low rate of complications.

8.Two Cases of Long Ureteral Polyp in Adult.

Benign fibrous polyps of ureter are rare. Recently, the rate of preoperative diagnosis and conservative management was progressively increased due to developed endoscopic procedures. Two additional cases of long, fibrous ureteral polyps, one with obstruction of contralateral ureteropelvic junction and the other with protruding mass to bladder, are reported with a brief review of literatures.

9.Intrauterine Filling Defects on Hysterosalpingography Correlation with Hysteroscopic Findings.

PURPOSE: To describe various hysterosalpingographic (HSG) findings of intrauterine lesions, and to determinethe correlation of these with their hysteroscopic findings. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study involved 100patients who during a 23-month period underwent both HSG and hysteroscopic examinations. The HSG findings werecategorized as intrauterine adhesion, endometrial polyp, myoma, or 'other', and were correlated with hysteroscopicfindings and histologic diagnoses. RESULTS: Diagnoses based on HSG findings were intrauterine adhesions (n=80),endometrial polyps (n=8), myomas (n=10) and 'other' (n=2). The hysteroscopic diagnoses of these patients wereintrauterine adhesions (n=68), endometrial polyps (n=11), myomas (n=4), and 'other' (n=17). HSG and hysteroscopicdiagnoses were consistent 72 patients (72%). CONCLUSION: Lesions presenting as filling defects on HSG sometimesshow nonspecific or overlapping findings and the normal uterus may produce defects of this kind which mimicklesions.
