International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2009;31(4):354-355
Objective To study the effect of TCM mental intervention on activity of daily living scale (ADL) of patients with post stroke depression (PSD). Methods A total of 64 patients with mild or medium depression scored by Hamilton depression scale were randomly recruited into a control group and a treatment group. Both groups received the same clinical therapies and hahilitation, besides the treatment group was intervened with TCM mental therapy. HAMD and ADL scales were used to evaluate the condition of rehabilitation at 40 days ,70days and 100days of the treatment. Results There was not statistical significance between the two groups in terms of HAMD and ADL scale before the treatment( P>0.05 ). The treatment group showed significandy better results than the control group at 40 days ,70days and 100days of the treatment (P <0.05 ) . Conclusion The patients of PSD should be performed with TCM mental intervention as early as possible to improve the patient's mobility.
