The present study predicts the development of health manpower and level structure of paramedical and pharmacy higher education by methods of dynamic series, tendency extrapolation, grey forecasting and special istic prediction. The results show that in the future 5-10 years, it is suitable for the paramedical and pharmacy higher education lo enroll 50 000-70 000 new students every year, which will account for 35 percent of total medical students of higher medical education. In their level structure undergraduates will gradually reach 30 percent and students receiving 3-year special-i/ed training 70 percent. Some policy suggestions are put forward on the basis of prediction.

In the field of biomechanics, there have been many discoveries concerning the cervical spine injuries in recent years. With the help of biomechanical knowledge, we can not only judge the stability of the cervical spine and have a clear idea of the factors that may affect the stability but also conduct an appropriate classification of the injuries. In this article, we summarize the effects of the stiffness and preinjury biomechanical characteristics of the cervical spine (such as alignment, mass, inertial properties) on the injury, changes of the spinal canal during injury, and the rapidly developing research on finite element models of cervical spine injuries in the past few years.

Objective To study the apoptotic effect of brazilein on human lung cancer A549 cells and endoplasmic reticulum stress .Methods The cytotoxic activity was tested by MTT assay in A549 cells .The flow cytometry was used to detect apoptosis . Western blotting was performed to detect GRP78 and cyto c protein expression .Results The IC50 values of brazilein against A549 cells was (5 .36 ± 0 .62)μmol/L .After treatment with 0 ,5 ,10 and 20 μmol/L brazilein for 48 h ,the percent of apoptosis was (1 .15 ± 0 .32)% ,(19 .61 ± 4 .52)% ,(30 .18 ± 6 .35)% and (39 .48 ± 7 .44)% respectively .There was significant difference among the different treatment (P< 0 .05) .Compared with control group ,the protein expression of GRP78 and cytosolic cyto c was in‐creased after 5 ,10 and 20 μmol/L brazilein treated for 48 h .Conclusion Brazilein induced apoptosis in human lung cancer A549 cells though endoplasmic reticulum stress pathway .

Objective: To study the feasibility of fast-track surgery in colorectal surgery. Methods: 61 patients with elective colorectal operation were divided randomly into experimental group (n=31)and control group(n=30), which were treated with fast-track surgery and traditional methods respectively. The data of stress and recovery after surgery were evaluated. Results: Compared to routine methods, the fast-track surgery can lighten stress, accelerate recovery and reduce the rate of overall complication after surgery. Conclusions: Fast-track surgery including intervention during perioperative period is safe and effective in colorectal surgery, significantly lightening stress and improving recovery in patients after colorectal surgery.

In this paper the latest studies on the role of estrogen for the development of osteoarthritis and osteoporosis in postmenopausal women are reviewed.Estrogen can influence the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis through its interactions with the estrogen receptors,type Ⅱ collagen,cytokines and reactive oxygen species.While in the process of osteoporosis,estrogen can not only influence the estrogen receptors,cytokmes,reactive oxygen species,but also affect the sex hormone binding globulin and estrogen receptor-related receptor.

Objecitve To observe the effects of ursolicacid on contractile activity of uterine smooth muscle strips of virginal rats.Methods 20 Wistar virginal rats,weight 200-300g were selected,to record the effects of ursolicacid(1.0?10~(-8),2.0?10~(-8),3.0?10~(-8),4.0?10~(-8)g/L) on contractile activity of uterine smooth muscle strips with Biolap 410 Biological System.Diphenhydramine(2?10~(-6)mol/L),Phentolamine(2?10~(-6)mol/L),Verapamil(2?10~(-7)mol/L),Indomethacin(2?10~(-5)mol/L) were used as antagonists to study the mechanisms of ursolicacid on uterine smooth muscle strips.Results Ursolicacid could significantly potentiate uterine contractile activity of virginal rats.It could increase the frequencies,prolong the duration and enlarge the amplitude of contractile activity.The effect of which could be inhibited by the Indomethacin;but could not restrained by other antagonists.Conclusion The results of Ursolicacid may be mainly primarily with prostaglandin synthese or release,but not mediated by H_(1) receptor,? receptor and L-voltage-dependant calcium channels.

Objective To evaluate the method and result of thyroid artery embolization as a new therapy for hyperthyroidism. Methods Twenty two patients with hyperthyroidism underwent selective thyroid artery embolization. Totally 52 thyroid arteries were embolized with microspheres. The indications to this therapy were following: hyperthyroid patients having indications to surgical and 131 I therapy, clinically being difficult to complete the preparation for subtotal thyroidectomy and having high risk for surgical process because of their huge thyroid gland. Objective To investigate the role of prokinetic agent itopride in colonic preparation before colonoscopy examination in patients with constipation.Methods A total of 115 outpatients with history of chronic constipation who requested colonoscopy were collected.According to colonic preparation proposal,patients were divided into three groups.Group A (39 cases) took standard dosage of PEG-E solution six hours before colonoscopy examination.Group B (38 cases) took 150 mg itopride 30 minutes before administration of lavage solution.Group C (38 cases) took itopride 150 mg at 7 am,12 am and 8 pm the day before the examination and on the examination day took the same medicine as that of group B.The blood pressure,heart rate and blood electrolytes were monitored before and after taking medicine in the patients of three groups.Quality of colon cleansing of each group was observed and side effects were also observed.One-way analysis of variance (least significant difference,LSD) test was performed for pairwise comparisons among the three groups.Chi-square test was applied for count data.Results Both group A and group B excluded one patient because of malignant carcinoma with colon stricture under colonoscopy,and 113 patients completed the whole colon examination.There was no significant difference in the baseline patients' data of three groups.The colon cleaning score of group C (7.28±1.11) was higher than those of group A and B (6.55±1.18 and 6.51±1.16,LSD test,both P＜0.05).The frequency of bowel movements defecation of group C (8.31± 1.32) was more than those of group A and group B (7.11± 1.41 and 6.94± 1.51,LSD,test,both P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in terms of intestinal bubble scores,blood pressure,heart rate,blood electrolytes the uncomfortable degree of colonic preparation and rate of side effects of the three groups.Conclusion The colonic preparation can be safely and effectively improved by taking high dose of itopride one day before and on the day of colonoscopy examination.

Objectives:To investigate the model and effect of nutritional spport in patients with gastrointestinal fistulas and biliary or pancreatic fistulas. Methods:Step by step nutritional spport was studied in 23 patients with gastrointestinal fistulas and biliary or pancreatic fistulas.The calorie and days provided by different ways of nutritional support and routes of enteral nutrition were reviewed.The nutrition state was evaluated in all cases before TPN and after TEN.Liver functions were observed at the end of every phase of nutrition support. Results:The total hospitalization days of 23 patients were 1 498.TPN,PN+EN and TEN days were 901(60.1%),445(29.7%) and 152(10.2%) respectively,providing non protein calorie of 32.5?5.6,29.5?3.4 and 27.8?4.7 kJ/(kg?d).The routes of enteral nutrition were nasal jejunum tube (13 cases),jejunostomy (5 cases) and nasal gastric tube(2 cases).4 patients died and 19 patients recovered.The nutrition state were significantly improved after nutrition treatment. Conclusions:TPN→PN+EN→TEN→EN+oral feeding was a model of step by step nutritional support,which was effective in patients with gastrointestinal fistulas and biliary or pancreatic fistulas.PN remains the main way providing nutrition support,while EN should be used as soon as possible.
