OBJECTIVE:To identify the habitat of Astragalus membranaceus by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and chemometrics methods.METHODS:An evaluation method for selecting solvent applied to extract 86 samples from 5 different habitats as a pretreatment method was proposed.IR spectra were used to detect samples coated with KBr.Partial least squares (PLS) were used to identify the habitats of A.membranaceus.Significant IR spectral wave numbers were selected by PLS-VIP score.RESULTS:In single-solvent extraction method butanone extract had IR spectra characteristics. The incidence of successful identification was 100% and selected IR spectral wave were valuable for identification.CONCLUSION:FT-IR spectroscopy combined with chemometrics method can be used to identify the habitats of A.membranaceus.

Objective To study the management for haemobilia from the intrahepatic biliary duct due to the biliary tract infection. Methods Selective hepatic angiography, cholangiography, fib erotic choledochscope were used to confirm the pathology and diagnosis in 11 cases. Partial liver resection, transcatheter mobilization, common bile duct exploration and T-tube drainage were performed respectively. Results Of the 11 patients,3 treated by transcatheter,2 by left external lobectomy,6 by common bile duct exploration and T-tube drainage.Definitive control of the bleeding was achieved in all the patients. No complications were observed.10 of the patients are alive and well at follow-up for 2 years. Conclusions The treatment of choice depends on the underlying pathology of haemobilia, location diagnosis and the patient's general condition. The therapeutic principle is effective for hepatic haemobilia resulting from the billiard infection.

Objective To analyze the diagnosis and treatment of prostatic abscess, thus to improve the level of the treatment of prostatic abscess. Methods The clinical manifestations, imaging examination and treatment of prostatic abscess patients were analyzed.11 cases were taken by transrectal puncture drainage, transurethral electric cutting and application of sensitive antibiotic conservative treatment. Results 1 case was cured after medicine conser-vative treatment. The rest 10 patients,7 cases underwent ultrasound guided by transrectal puncture drainage,3 cases of transurethral electric cutting prostatic abscess to top decompression.Review showed that 8 cases of abscess obviously decreased or disappeared,2 cases had no significant change, again the puncture drainage after cured.Follow-up of 3-12 months,no recurrence observed. Conclusion Prostatic abscess is uncommon clinical abscess according to size, location and the result of bacterial culture +drug susceptibility, and combining the patients'physical condition to choose a suitable treatment method.

Objective To evaluate ECG-aided tip localization of peripherally inserted central catheter(PICC),and to explore the predictive value of in vitro measurement length to optimal length. Methods Convenience sampling method was used to recruit 743 patients from 18 tertiary hospitals in 11 provinces.Patients received ECG-aided tip localization during PICC placement. After PICC was inserted, orthophoria chest radiograph (OCR) was conducted to check whether the tip position of PICC was appropriate. Results Totally 624 valid questionnaires were collected.OCR showed that all tips of PICCs were located in the optimal position. The optimal length was positively correlated with in vitro measurement length (r=0.920,P<0.01).Linear regression showed regression equation was Y(the optimal length inserted through left basilic vein)=4.290+0.897X(in vitro measurement length)(R2=0.834,F=942.459,P<0.001),and Y(the optimal length inserted through right basilic vein)=3.097+0.922X(in vitro measurement length)(R2=0.855,F=2055,P<0.001).Conclusion Change of P-wave can be used to guide PICC placement and predict tip location.ECG-aided tip localization of PICC is accurate, and can be used as an alternative way.Besides, regression equation can be used to predict the optimal length of PICC.

Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2006;0(09):-
The method of PBL (problem based learning) teaching in China is widely recognized. However, the characteristics of Vocational Medical Education limit its wider application. The paper discusses the mode which is suitable for our country by analyzing the major issues, improving methods of teaching and doing experiments.

AIM: To explore mitochondrial mechanisms of apoptosis induced by artesunate in human leukemia HL60 cells. METHODS: Human leukemia HL60 cell lines were treated by artesunate. The inhibitory effect on cell proliferation was assessed by MTT assay. Electron microscopy and DNA gel electrophoresis was applied to demonstrate the presence of apoptosis. The level of MMP, cell cycle were determined by flow cytometry (FCM). The activity of caspase 3 was observed by colorimetry. RESULTS: Art showed a dose dependent and time dependent manner on the growth of HL60 cells (P

Objectives To observe the effects of levetiracetam (LEV) on spatial learning and memory ability in epileptic rats and the expression of synaptophysin (SYN) and growth-associated protein 43 (GAP-43) in the hippocampus of rats with epi-lepsy induced by lithium pilocarpine (Li-pilo). Methods SD rats were randomly divided into normal control group (normal saline group), LEV group (treatment group), Li-pilo group (model group) and LEV control group (normal dose group). Twenty-four hours after the establishment of model, LEV (150 mg/kg per day) was given to rats in LEV group and LEV control group, and equivalent normal saline was given to rats in normal control group and Li-pilo group. At 7, 14 and 28 days after successful model building, the expression levels of the SYN and GAP-43mRNA in hippocampus of rats in each group were detected by RT-PCR. In the 4th week, the ability of learning and memory of rats in each group was evaluated by the Morris water maze. Results There was no significant difference in escape latency and the frequency of crossing platform between LEV control group and normal control group in Morris water maze test. Compared with normal control group, the rats in Li-pilo group had a longer latency to escape and reduced frequency of crossing platform (P<0.05). Compared with Li-pilo group, the rats in LEV group had shorter latency to escape and more frequency of crossing platform (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the expressions of SYN and GAP-43mRNA in hippocampus of rats between LEV control group and normal control group. The expressions of SYN and GAP-43mRNA in Li-pilo group were lower than those of normal control group and LEV group (P<0.05). Conclusions Levetiracetam may improve learning and memory ability of rats with epilepsy through the regulation of SYN and GAP-43mRNA expressions in hippocampal tissue.

Vitamin D is classic metabolism regulator of the calcium and phosphorus. Type 2 diabetes is main charac-terized by insulin resistance and beta cell function impairment, which causes insulin secretion defects and synthesis ab-normality. In recent years, studies found close relationship between vitamin D and type 2 diabetes; Many basic re-searches and animal experiments show that vitamin D can improve insulin resistance, protect islet beta cells and have immune regulation effects in the development of type 2 diabetes Diseases. Vitamin D can regulate and control islet function by inhibiting islet beta cell apoptosis, promoting the secretion of pancreatic beta cells and weakening the se-cretion of islet alpha cell. This paper reviewed the research progress in recent years on the correlation between vitamin D and islets function.
