Objective To investigate the relationship between TNF-α, IFN-γand intestinal muco-sal permeability in a mouse colitis model and its inhibiting effect by balsalazide. Methods Forty-five C57BL/6J mice were divided randomly into five groups. Normal group was only fed with distilled water, DSS group and balsalazide groups at doses of 42, 141,423 mg/kg were both fed with 5% DSS. Balsalazide was given by intragastric administration. At the end of the experiment, colon tissue was collected for assessment of histological index(HI) and the MPO activity. Small intestinal mucosa was collected for assessment of the content of TNF-α and IFN-γ,transmission electron microscope(TEM), and detection of permeability by Ev-arts blue method. Results Compared with normal group, DSS group mice all manifested severe weight loss associated with hematocbezia and diarrhea, HI score, and the colon MPO activity and the content of TNF-α and IFN-γ were increased significantly. Intestinal mucosa showed a thinning of microvillous carpet, with de-curtated and broaden junctional complex and enlarged intercollutar space under TEM observations. The amount of Evans blue permeated into intestinal wall was obvious. Compared with DSS group, the HI score, the MPO activity and the content of TNF-α and IFN-γ were decreased by balsalazide. The amount of Evans blue permeated into intestinal wall was less. Ileal microvillous carpet was ameliorated dose dependently by balsalazide. Conclusion In DSS-induced colitis model, the change of the content of the TNF-α and IFN-γ, was accordance with the increase of intestinal mucosal permeability while balsalazide can significantly amelio-rate intestinal mucosal permeability by its anti-colitis effect.

Objective To investigate the serum superoxide dismutase( SOD) ,malondialdehyde ( MDA) , and nitric oxide( NO) level in generalized anxiety disorder ( GAD) patients for exploring the importance of oxida?tive stress in etiology of GAD. Methods 42 cases of first episode patients with GAD ( GAD group) and 42 cases of health ( control group) matched with age and gender were included . Serum levels of SOD,MDA ,and NO were tested to analyze for a control study. Results GAD patients had significantly higher levels of SOD,MAD and NO than health controls ((858.09±137.32)×102 U/L vs (745.40±119.19) ×102 U/L;(10.92±3.42)mmol/L vs (7.52±2.32)mmol/L;(74.32±12.34) μmol/L vs(65.22±14.29) μmol/L), t=4.036,5.368,3.297;P=0.000, 0.000,0.003) . A positive relationship between SOD and total score of Hamilton Anxiety Scale( HAMA ) ,psychotic anxiety factor of HAMA,or somatic anxiety factor of HAMA was found in GAD group ( r=0.331,0.370,0.318;P=0.029,0.016,0.040).The level of MAD correlated with total score or psychotic anxiety factor of HAMA( r=0.311, 0.320;P=0.042,0.039).Conclusion It is suggested that the dysfunction of oxidative stress may play a role in pathogenesis of generalized anxiety disorder.

Objective To explore the characteristic and clinical value of Somatosensory Evoked Potential SEP and event?related potential P300 in patients with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy (JME), trying to provide neuroelectrophysiological evidence for the pathogenesis, diagnosis and antiepileptic drug efficacy of this disease . Methods 28 patients with JME and 30 healthy controls were enrolled in the research. They were applied the SEP and P300 before and after one year treatment. Results (1) The amplitude of SEP in patients with JME was significantly higher than those in the control group(P=0.000), the abnormal rate was 75%(21/28), while the latency of SEP was no significant difference (P>0.05); The latency of P300 in patients with JME was significantly longer (P = 0.000), 2 out of 28 cases were poorly differentiated, 9 cases were longer (11/28, 39%), while the P300 amplitude was no significant difference(P=0.110). (2) After treatment, the amplitude of SEP was significantly lower (P<0.05), the latency of P300 was significantly shorter (P=0.001). (3) The amplitude of SEP had a positively linear relationship with the latency of P300 (r = 0.818, P = 0.000). Conclusions The SEP amplitude was significantly higher in patients with JME, often accompanied by a huge SEP, so SEP can provide electrophysiological evidence for the pathogenesis and diagnosis of this disease. And P300 may give a chance to find the subclinical cognitive abnormalities and to intervent it early. The SEP had a positively linear relationship with the P300, simultaneously dynamic monitoring the change of SEP amplitude and P300 latency may become an objective evaluation for the antiepileptic drug efficacy.
