Objective To compare the efficacy and incidence of complications of stenting alone and intratumoral injection of recombinant human adenovirus p53 combined with stent implantation in the treatment of advanced esophageal cancer patients.Methods 2 4 cases with advanced esophageal cancer,who could only eat semi liquid,liquid food or could not eat,were randomly divided into control group(A group) and treatment group (B group).12 cases in A group were treated with esophageal stent implantation,12 cases in B group were given endoscopic intratumor injection of recombinant human adenovirus p53 combined with food tract stent implantation.Results The rate of improvement of dysphasia had no significant difference in survival period:the treatment group survival time of 3.2-38 months,mean (27.0 ± 2.3) months,while the control group survival time of 2.8-27months,an average of (14.7 ± 8.0) months,the difference between the two groups was significant (t =3.521,P ＜ 0.05).The incidence rate of restenosis in treatrnent group was 8.3％,that in control group was 41.7％.There was significant difference (x2 =7.532,P ＜0.05).Conclusion Endoscopic intratumor injection of recombinant human adenovirus p53 combined with esophageal stent implantation in the treatment of advanced esophageal carcinoma can prolong the survival time of patients with esophageal stent implantation,and to reduce the incidence of restenosis.

Objective To investigate the efficacy of medical therapy after conservative operation for endometriosis.(Methods)Endometriosis was confirmed in 89 patients by laparoscopic inspection,and conservative operations were performed to remove the adhesion,excise or destroy all the endometriotic tissues,including single excision of endo-(metriotic) masses or plus unilateral salpingoophorectomy,and to restore pelvic anatomy to the best possible condition.All the patients were divided into two groups randomly: treatment group(n=44),three months drug therapy of go-(nadotropin-)releasing hormone analogs(GnRHa) after operation;control group(n=45),no drug therapy after operation.Clinical symptoms,concentrations of CA-125,manual and ultrasonic pelvic check-up,as well as pregnancy rate to those who had a desire for future fertility(n=28)were followed up. Objective To investigate the effects of surgery-induced menopause on neuropsychological symptoms in women with perimenopause. Methods Sixty-eight women with perimenopause who underwent bilateral oophorectomy for benign indications were evaluated by the modified Kupperman index on the perimenopause syndrome pre-and post-surgery,including the score in neuropsychological symptoms.Patients were further requested to remake a decision on the acceptance of surgery,and were divided into "accept the surgery" group(n=30) and "postpone the surgery" group(n=38).The neuropsychological symptoms were reevaluated and comparison was made between these two groups. Results The prevalence of perimenopause syndrome pre-surgery was 67.65%(22/68),and that of moderate and severe symptoms was 30.88%.The prevalence of perimenopause syndrome post-surery(97.06%)(66/68)was significantly increased,as well as that of moderate and severe symptoms(70.59%)(P

Objective To explore the related risk factors of injuries caused by non-motor vehicle crashes in Hefei,Anhui Province. Methods From June 2009 to June 2011,the wounded from nonmotor vehicle crashes in Hefei were admitted to our hospital.The data of the wounded were collected to perform hypothesis test to screen out the related risk factors,which were then analyzed with multiple-factor non-conditional Logistic regression analysis. Results A total of 205 cases who were wounded in the non-motor vehicle crashes were admitted to our hospital from June 2009 to June 2011.Among all the cases,146 cases were wounded in electric bicycle crashes and 59 cases in bicycle crashes.There were 147cases (71.7％) of mild to moderate injuries ( ISS ≤ 15 ),and 58 cases (28.3％) of severe injuries (ISS ＞ 15 ) including six deaths (2.9％).Single factor of different categories of the hypothesis test suggested that age,category,driving behavior,crash model,impact type,vehicle type were all related with the severity of injuries caused by non-motor vehicle crashes in Hefei.The multiple-factor non-conditional Logistic regression analysis showed four risk factors for the injury severity in non-motor vehicle crashes in Hefei,ie,vehicle type,crash model,violations of rules and regulations as well as age,according to the degree of correlation.Conclusion With the study of non-motor vehicle crashes in Hefei,primary identification of the risk factors for the traffic injuries is obtained,which provides scientific basis for the decrease of casualty and establishment of intervention measures.

Objective To preliminarily study the effect of high concentration prolactin (PRL) on the immune system in schizo-phrenic patients by analyzing the changes of lymphocyte subsets and immunoglobulins (IgG ,IgM ,IgA) levels .Methods The flow cytometry was used to detect the T lymphocytes CD3+ ,CD4+ and CD8+ subsets ,NK cell percentages and CD4+ /CD8+ ratio re-spectively .The three humoral immune indicators(IgG ,IgM ,IgA) in peripheral blood were detected by using the immunoturbidimet-ric turbidimetric method .The data were analyzed by adopting the analysis of variance .Results Compared with the healthy control group and schizophrenia normal PRL group ,T lymphocytes CD4+ subsets percentages and CD4+ /CD8+ ratio as well as IgG were increased in the schizophrenia PRL increase group(P<0 .05) ,while the percentage of NK cells was decreased(P<0 .05) .Conclu-sion High concentration PRL may have a certain effect on the immune system by influencing the balance among lymphocyte sub-sets and the production of immunoglobulins .

AIM: To establish the quality standard for Zhike Pingchuan Capsule (Radix Panacis Quinquefolii, Semen Pruni Armeniacae, Radix Scutellariae, Radix Glycyrrhizae, Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae, etc.). METHODS: Radix Panacis Quinquefolii, Radix Glycyrrhizae, Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae in Zhike Pingchuan Capsule were identified by TLC and ginsenoside Rb_1 was determined by HPLC. The analysis was carried out on C_~18 column by HPLC. The mobile phase was CH_3CN-H_2O(34∶66). The flow rate was 1.2 mL?min~-1 and the detection wavelength was at 203 nm. The column temperature was at 40.0 ℃ and sensitivity was 0.02 AUFS. RESULTS:The average recovery was 97.20% and RSD was 2.25% and the linear range of ginsenoside Rb_1 was in 0.612-~6.120 ?g. CONCLUSION:This method is simple, rapid with a good reproducibility. This method can be used for the quality control of Zhike Pingchuan Capsule.

ObjectiveTo investigate the application of rapid immunohistochemical staining technique in intraoperative frozen section diagnosis of thyroid neoplasm.Methods MaxVision one-step rapid immunohistochemical staining technique was used to detect the expression of CK19,HBME-1,and Gal-3 in frozen section of papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC)andthyroid benign lesions.MaxVision conventional immunohistochemistry of frozen remaining tissue was served as control.ResultsMaxVision one-step rapid immunohistochemical staining technique could be completed in 20 minutes.The positive localizations of three markers detected by rapid immunohistochemistry were similar to conventional immunohistochemistry, in general.The expression of CK19 was located in cytoplasm and cellular membrane.Gal-3 and HBME-1 were mainly detected in follicular luminal border and/or surface of papilla. The staining intensity in rapid immunohistochemistry was stronger than that in conventional immunohistochemistry. The positive rates of CK19,HBME-1,and Gal-3 by rapid immunohistochemistry in frozen sections were: 0 (0/28),10.7 ％ (3/28),0 (0/28),respectively,for benign lesions (nodular goiter,Hashimoto thyroiditis,thyroid adenoma); and 94.9 ％(37/39),92.3 ％ (36/39),92.3 ％ (36/39),respectively,for PTC.The expression of three markers between thyroid benign lesions and PTC had a significant difference (x2 =59.326,55.861,44.605,all P ＜ 0.001).In benign lesions,the rate of same case with two and more positive markers was 0,while in PTC it was 100 ％ and significantly different (x2 =67.000,P ＜ 0.05).ConclusionMaxVision one-step rapid immunohistochemical staining technique could be applied in intraoperative frozen section diagnosis.Detecting CK19,HBME-1,and Gal-3 expression in intraoperative frozen section has an auxiliary value for diagnosis of PTC.

Objective. To investigate the association of carotid arterial intima media thickness (IMT) with principal cardiovascular risk factors in the elderly. Methods. Carotid arterial IMT was measured by high resolution B mode ultrasound in 94 elderly subjects (old aged group), and compared with subjects aged < 60 (middle-aged group). Results. In comparison with the middle-aged group, the prevalence of coronary heart disease, cerebral vascular disease, hypertension and diabetes mellitus was significantly higher, and serum cholesterol and systolic blood pressure were also significantly higher in old aged group. Although there was no obvious difference in IMT between the two groups, carotid plaque and carotid wall thickening were more frequently found in old aged group. Age, systolic blood pressure and serum cholesterol were shown as the independent determinants for carotid IMT in the total participants, whereas no such independent relation was found in old-aged group. Conclusion. Age is the major risk factor for carotid atherosclerosis in the elderly. In other words, the occurrence of carotid atherosclerosis is the result of advancing age combined with the effect of multiple cardiovascular risk factors.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effect of long-term Shexiang Baoxin Pill (SXBXP) administration on cardiovascular events in patients with stable angina pectoris (SAP).

METHODSA prospective randomized non-blind parallel controlled study was conducted in the early stage (the first 6 months) of the trial, then a cohort study was succeeded in the later stage. Two hundred patients with SAP, who visited the hospital between May 2005 and June 2006, were selected and randomly assigned to the trial group and the control group, 100 patients in each group. Both were treated with conventional therapy, including treatment for anti-platelet, blood lipid regulating, anti-ischemia, etc, and to patients in the trial group, SXBXP was administered additionally for 2 pills, three times a day by oral intake. The therapeutic course lasted for at least 6 months. All patients were followed up until January 2008, the clinical events and conditions of treatment were recorded. The composite terminal of various cardiovascular events was regarded as the primary endpoint.

RESULTSThe median follow-up time of the study was 2.25 years (ranging from 0.5 to 2.75 years). In the trial group, the occurrence (cases) was 23 for all-clinical event, 20 for primary-clinical event and 9 for angina pectoris event, which were lesser than those in the control group, 33, 29 and 19 cases respectively, showing a significant difference between groups (P < 0.05). The dosage of nitrates used in the trial was decreased more than that before treatment. Besides, all the incidences (cases), in terms of all-cause death (2 vs 5), cardiovascular death (1 vs 2), congestive heart failure (3 vs 4), stroke (2 vs 4), and other clinical (5 vs 6) events, as well as in the need for percutaneous coronary intervention or coronary artery bypass graft (2 vs 4), showed somewhat lowering in the trial group as compared with the corresponding items in the control group, but statistical analysis showed an insignificant difference between them (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONLong-term SXBXP administration could reduce the occurrence of angina pectoris events and some other clinical events, and cut down the dosage of nitrates used in patients with SAP.

Objective To develop an efficient method for the determination of activity of human lymphocyte kynureninase by high performance liquid chromatography. Methods Protein containing kynureninase was extracted from lymphocytes.The reaction was made with 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid as substrate and pyridoxal-5'-phosphate as coenzyme.The product was determined by high performance liquid chromatography and fluorescence detection.(Results)Standard curve of 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid was highly linear over the range from 2 to 400 nmol/L.The intra-day coefficient of variation(CV) was less than 3.0% and the inter-day CV was less than 3.2%. Conclusion(The developed) assay is efficient and can be used to determine the activity of kynureninase from kinds of tissues.
