2.COMPARISON OF THE HYPOLIPIDEMIC EFFECTS OF REFINED KONJAC MEAL WITH SEVERAL COMMON DIETARY FIBERS AND THEIR MECHANISMS OF ACTION
Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(02):-
In order to evaluate appropriately the role of lipid metabolism by the refined konjac meal (RKM), a new source of dietary fiber, the effects of RKM on the level of serum and liver lipids, hepatic histopathology and on the composition and output of fecal bile acids in comparison with pectin, algin and agar were studied. The RKM contained about 75-80% of glucomannan. All four kinds of dietary fiber "were given at a level of 5% in the diet to the young male Wistar rats fed on a lipid-rich diet containing 5% lard, 1% cholesterol and 0.25% chplate. The control group was fed on a lipid-rich diet alone withput fiber. The normal group was fed on a basal diet without extra lipid added. Feeding period was 9 weeks. The results obtained were as follows;1)All the dietary fibers tested have the similar effects on serum lipid composition. At the end of 2-week of the experiment, the serum total cholesterol levels of the four experimental groups were only 62% to 75% of that of the control group, and at the end of 7-week they were lowered to the same level of the normal group. The level of the triglyceride in serum did not change in all groups during the experiment.2)Relative liver weights were lower in four experimental groups than in control group. Hepatic hisiopathological examinations showed lipotropic effect in RKM, pectin and algin groups. Both of the above effects appeared most significantly in RKM group. The concentrations of total cholesterol and triglyceride in liver in RKM group were lower than those in control group as well as other three experimental groups.3)No harmful effects on the intake of food and growing of rats were found when feeding these four kinds of dietary fiber at the level of 5%.4)The daily output of fecal bile acids (CDCA + GDCA) was significantly increased in four experimental groups. The increase of fecal output of bile acids, especially CDCA, may be one of the mechanisms of hypocholesterola-emic effect of dietary fibers. It could be concluded that RKM has the same significant hypocholestero-lemic effect as the pectin, algin and agar, but its lipotropic effect is more potent.
3.Clincial Observation on the Efficacy of Methylprednisolone Stosstherapy of IgA Nephropathy Complicated With Partial Crescenties Formation
Journal of Chinese Physician 2001;0(03):-
Objective To observe the efficacy of methylprednisolone stosstherapy of the IgA nephropathy complicated with partial crescenties formation and effects of this therapy on the urine protein output and renal function. Methods 93 patients of IgA nephropathy complicated with partial crescenties formation were identified by renal biopsy and diagnosed according to the WHO diagnostic criteria in 1982 formulation. The patients were randomly divided into two groups:the control and the treating groups. The control group was treated with oral prednisolone (1mg/Kg/day) plus oral cyclophosphamide(2mg?kg -1 ?d -1 ),while the treating group was administered, on the basis of the therapeutic scheme of the control group, with methylprednisolone 0 5~1 0g(20mg?Kg -1 ?d -1 ) in normal saline solution intravenously by drip, for 8 weeks,The degree of puffiness,BP and 24h urine volume were observed in both groups befoue and after the treatment. The 24h urine protein quantitative determination, urine RBC count(uRBC),urine creatinine, blood creatinine(Cr),blood urea nitrogen(BUN),serum albumin (ALB) and the endogenous creatinine clearance rate (Ccr) were also tested. The side effects in two groups were observed at the same time. Results The urine protein output amounts, urine RBC count, blood Cr and BUN were significantly decreased (P
4.Reflections on ttae initial misidentification of the pathogen of SARS
Chinese Journal of Hospital Administration 2001;0(08):-
The rashness in research as reflected in the initial misidentification of the pathogen of SARS is of great enlightening and warning significance to scientific and technical workers in the medical field. In order to effec-tively reduce errors in the clinical diagnosis of SARS, succeed in obtaining reliable methods for its specific diagnosis, and strive for a genuine victory in the fight against it, it is imperative to vigorously uphold the scientific spirit of adher-ing to truths and defying authorities and promote the style of doing things in a rigorous, realistic, accurate, persistent and down-to-earth manner. Rashness must be avoided by all means.
5.Preliminary Study on Flare-Prediction in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Chinese Journal of Dermatology 1995;0(01):-
Objective To study the value of routine laboratory examinations, symptoms and soluble IL-2 receptor (sIL-2R) in the flare-prediction on systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE). Methods A prospective study was performed in 106 outpatients with SLE and the patients′ conditions were assessed according to Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index(SLEDAI). Patients were asked to visit at no longer than 3-month interval. All patients were followed-up for 6 to 18 months. At each visit, laboratory examinations, symptoms, disease activity, as well as the changes in the treatment were recorded according to the protocol. The values of these parameters in flare-prediction were comprehensively assessed based on their frequency and time respectively when they became abnormal before the disease flare. Results Among the 106 patients, the disease activity of 67 cases were in remission and satisfied the prospective study criteria of the SLE flare. Thirty-one flares in 29 patients were observed. The frequency of flare was 0.44/patient/year. Comprehensively the most valuable predictor of those parameters was anti-dsDNA antibody, followed by complement components, sIL-2R, erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR), complete blood count, urine analysis, fatigue, mucous membrane ulceration, new rashes and alopecia. C3 was a better predictor for SLE flares than that of C4 and CH50. Conclusions The flares of SLE could be predicted. Early intervention will help to prevent patients from flare.

International Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2015;(5):604-605,607
Objective To evaluate the application value of the hematology analysis combined with genetic diagnosis in the prena-tal diagnosis of thalassemia. Methods 2 368 parturients were performed the prenatal diagnosis of thalassemia in the prenatal diag-nosis center of our hospital from July 2010 to April 2013,and those with positive hematological screening detection were performed the genetic diagnosis. Results The hematology analysis results showed 124 parturients of abnormal HbA2.The hematology analy-sis results in the abnormal parturients had the statistical difference compared with those in the rest healthy parturients (P <0.01). Among 124 pregnant women of hematological positive phenotype, there were 16 couples with the same genotype,in these 16 preg-nant women,15 cases were performed the prenatal diagnosis of thalassemia, there were 7 cases of αthalassemia gene,2 cases of βgenotype,6 cases of normal genotype,3 cases of severe fetal thalassemia, including 2 cases of α-thalassemia(genotype--SEA/--SEA ),1 case ofβ-thalassemia(genotype 41-42/IVS-Ⅱ-654).All pregnant women terminated pregnancy after informing the patients.Conclu-sion The hematology analysis combined with genetic diagnosis plays an important role in the construction of perfect thalassemia prenatal detection and diagnosis intervention mode, and is worthy of popularization and application.
7.Application of fluorescence in situ hybridization and chromosome karyotype analysis in prenatal diagnosis
International Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2015;(4):501-502,505
Objective To investigate the application value of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)in prenatal diagnosis and compared with karyotype analysis of cells from amniotic fluid. Methods A total of 183 high-risk pregnant women received for a FISH and karyotype analysis who taken prenatal disgnosis in Meizhou people′s hospital between April 2012 and November 2013. Results According to the test results of karyotype analysis. There were 9 cases of chromosomal abnormality in 183 pregnant women.Among 9 cases,3 cases were trisomy 21,3 cases were trisomy 18,2 cases were XO and one case of XXY.One case of tri-somy 18 was showed normal using the FISH.Other cases were consistent with karyotype analysis result. Conclusion FISH is a rapid, reliable and prompt prenatal diagnosis method, combined with karyotype analysis will maximize the detection efficacy in pre-natal diagnosis of chromosome abnormalities.
8.The influences of fenofibrate on levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha in serum and adipocytes secretion of hypercholesterolemia rabbits
Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1987;0(02):-
Aim Background tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-?) is produced by monocyte-macrophages and adipocytes. It may provide the link between inflammation and atherosclerosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of fenofibrate on serum TNF-? concentration and TNF-? secretion by adipocytes from hypercholesterolemia rabbits. Methods Ten male New Zealand white rabbits were fed with high-cholesterol diet for 8 weeks, and were randomly divided into two groups: ①high cholesterol group: maintained cholesterol diet for 4 wks; ② fenofibrate group: the same cholesterol diet supplemented with fenofibrate (30 mg?kg?d -1) for 4 weeks. And control group was fed with normal diet for 12 weeks. Subcutaneous adipose was collected for adipocytes culture. TNF-? concentrations in serum and adipocytes culture supernatant were measured by ELISA. Adipocytes were harvested for semi-quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) studies. Results :Rabbits fed with high-cholesterol diet showed higher serum levels of total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol than those fed with normal diet (P
