Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 1985;0(01):-
The plasma arginine vasopressin (AVP) level was measured by RIA in 19 patients with polyuria and polydipsia, and the AVP measurement was compared with indirect tests. The AVP levels were very low in 13 patients with central diabetes insipidus and normal in 6 patients with primary polydipsia. The direct assay was correspondent to the indirect criteria in 89% of the patients. We concluded that the use of AVP assay improves accuracy in the differential diagnosis of polyuria, and is important in the diagnosis of these diseases.

Objective To compare the Occurrence rate of unplanned extubation(UEX)and anastomotic leakage by two different gastric tube for gastrointestinal decompression in patients after the operation of esophageal carcinoma. Methods Three hundred and eighty patients were randomly divided into two groups, the experimental group(n=90),ballonet gastric tubes were used;the control group(n=90),general gastric tubes were used. The occurTence rate of unplanned extubation(UEX)and anastomotic leakage were investigated. Results There was a remarkable difference(P<0.01)in the rate of UEX between the experimental group and the control group.Though no statistical difference was seen in the rate of anastomotic leakage(P>0.05),lower incidence of anastomofic leakage was seen in the experimental group. Conclusions BalIonet gastric tube for gastrointestinal decompression in patients after the operation of esophageal carcinoma can reduce the rate of UEX,improve the nursing qualiy and also successfully reduce the rate of anastomotic leakage.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 1985;0(01):-
Red blood cell sorbitol contents were determined with a enzymatic method in 37 diabetics and 19 controls. The fasting blood glucose (FBG) levels and RBC sorbitol contents in the diabetics were significantly higher than that in the controls. RBC sorbitol was positively correlated to FBG, but not to the age of the patients or the type and duration of diabetes mellitus. In 9 patients whose nerve conduction velocity was measured, RBG sorbitol content was negatively correlated with motor nerve conduction velocity of median nerve (r =-0.768, P

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1993;0(03):-
Objective To study the clinical features of diagnosis and treatment in children with low-risk myelodysplastic syndrome(MDS) and improve the diagnosis and treatment. Methods The examinations of 17 children with low-risk MDS were analyzed. The blood concentrations of cyclosporine, one of the therapeutic drugs, were monitored and the responses to the treatments were evaluated. Results Exa-mination of full blood count showed that the reductions of 3 cell types,2 cell types and 1 cell type were 11 (64.7%)cases,5(29.4%)cases and 1(5.9%)case,respectively.Reticulocyte count showed an increase in 82.4% of the patients and normal in 3 cases.Fourteen in 17 cases were hyperplastic marrow and 3 cases were hypoplastic marrow.Among all cases, one lineage,2 lineages and 3 lineages dyspoiesis were seen in 8(47.1%),7(41.2%) and 1 (5.9%)cases,respectively.One case showed no dyspoiesis.Cytogenetics examination showed normal in 10(58.8%) cases and abnormal in 7(41.2%) cases.Fifteen (88.2%) cases had normal proportions of CD59 negative cells, while 2 cases had higher proportions. The blood concentrations of cyclosporine that were tested in 9 cases at the end of the third week were in a range of 95.3-316.5 ?g/L.The therapeutic effect of 10 cases were evaluated at the end of the third month after being treated.Eight cases achieved haematological improvement and 2 cases didn′t.The rate of improvement was 80%.Conclusions The patients of low-risk MDS are mostly school-aged children and pancytopenia is the most common sign. The combination of predisone, cyclosporine and stanozolol agents shows good effect to treat low-risk MDS.The absorption of cyclosporine is different individually,so it is significant to adjust the dosage of cyclosporine according to the concentration regularly in clinical practice.

Objective To study the incidence frequency of prothrombin G20210A (FⅡ G20210A)mutation in the patients with pulmonary thromboembolism(PTE)in northeast China, and to clarify the predictive value of FⅡG20210A mutation detection in PTE of the population in northeast China. Methods 60 PTE patients(PTE group) and 80 sex-matched healthy controls(control group)from the same geographic area were selected. All the patients were diagnosed by lung ventilation/perfusion scan and/or multi-slice CT pulmonary angiography(CTPA)as well as medical history. The genome DNA was extracted from the whole blood using alcohol.Polymerase chain reaction (PCR),restriction fragment length polymorphisms(RFLP)analysis with HindⅢ restriction enzyme and sepharose gel electrophoresis were used to identify the F Ⅱ G20210A mutation in PTE group and control group. Results After digested by HindⅢ restriction enzyme, only the fragments of 407 and 99 bp were found in PTE group. The frequency of FⅡ G20210A mutation was 0%,there was no statistical difference compared with contol group(P>0.05).There were no heterozygote and homozygote mutation of FⅡ G202210A gene in PTE group and control group. Conclusion The incidence of FⅡ G20210A mutation in the PTE patients in northeast China is very low,and the detection of FⅡ G20210A mutation may have no predictive value in PTE of the population in northeast China.

Objective To analyze the skeletal structure features of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) by using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in patients with sleep bruxism. Methods CBCT scanning was performed in the intercuspal position in 30 patients with sleep bruxism (sleep bruxism group) and 30 health adults (normal group). The reconstruction of TMJ images were analysed by Invivo5 software. Measurements of horizontal section include antero-posterior diameter, medial-lateral diameter and axial angel. Measurements of sagittal section include acetabulum depth, aricular eminence inclination, anterior space, superior space and posterior space. Measurements of coronal section include force angle. Results There were no significant differences in both sides of TMJ between sleep bruxism group and normal group(P>0.05). Compared with control group, there were significant differences in antero-posterior diameter, medial-lateral diameter, acetabulum depth, anterior space and force angle in sleep bruxism group (P<0.05). There were decreased antero posterior diameter, me?dial-lateral diameter and increased acetabulum depth, anterior space and force angle in sleep bruxism group than those of control group. Conclusion The bilateral bone stuctures of TMJ are basically symmetry in patients with sleep bruxism. There is no significant change in condylar position in acetabulum , but there is a trend of absorbtion of anterior space and de?crease of condyle in patients with sleep bruxism.

Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1999;0(09):-
AIM: To observe the effects of high-dose hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) vaccine on cellular immune response in BALB/C mice. METHODS: The mice were immunilized separately with low-dose and high-dose HBsAg vaccine by intramuscular injection two times. The specific proliferative activities of T lymphocytes were measured by [ 3H]-TdR incorporation assay. IL-2 as well as IFN-? levels in the culture supernatant of T cells and anti-HBs IgG2a lever in sera were detected by enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay. RESULTS: After first vaccination with high-dose HBsAg, the proliferative activities of T cells in the experimental group were significantly stronger, both levels of IL-2 and IFN-? were markedly higher than that in the control group and the percentage of mice to produce serum anti-HBs IgG2a was significantly higher compared to that of mice immunilized by low-dose HBsAg. All data in experimental groups were further increased after second dose of vaccine. CONCLUSION: Vaccination of mice with high-dose HBsAg can induce cellular immune responses tended to Th1(T helper 1 subset) response.
