Philippine Journal of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2009;24(2):36-37
Objective:To design affordable, easy-to-use self-retaining retractors that can provide adequate exposure of the operative area in head and neck surgery Methods: Design: Surgical Instrumentation Setting: Tertiary government hospital Subjects: One Results: Self-retaining retractors were designed and fabricated from stainless steel with tissue prongs on one end and a loop for rubber-band attachment to surgical drapes via a towel clip on the other end. Varying prong lengths were devised for different depths of required retraction. Traction tension could be adjusted by varying rubber-band attachment distance. The retractors were tested on a patient undergoing open reduction and internal fixation for a mandibular fractureand evaluated according to ease of application, adequacy of exposure and tissue trauma. Conclusion: The self-retaining retractors may be affordable alternatives to commercially-available self-retaining retractors. They are easily applied with adjustable tension and depth of retraction that can provide adequate exposure with minimal tissue trauma.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2007;31(3):182-191
A kind of real-time remote monitoring embedded terminal which is combined with mobile communication technology and GPS localization technology, has been developed. The results of preliminary experiments show that the terminal can transmit ECG signals and localization information in real time and continuously, supply a real-time monitoring of out-of-hospital cardiac patients and trace the patients.

4.Reliability of OneCeph Cephalometric Analysis Application on the Devices with Different Screen Size
Archives of Orofacial Sciences 2022;17(1):137-150
ABSTRACT
This study aimed to assess the reliability of the OneCeph application according to personal
computer (PC), tablet and smartphone screen size in comparison with Dolphin software on
PC as a gold standard. Cephalometric landmarks were identified on 100 digital radiographs.
Twenty-four cephalometric measurements were made with Dolphin software as a gold standard
comparing with OneCeph application on smartphone (OS), OneCeph on PC (OP) and
OneCeph on tablet (OT). All measurements were repeated after four weeks for intra-examiner
reliability with intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). One-way ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis
test were done for measurement comparison between methods (Dolphin, OS, OP and OT).
Results for OneCeph on smartphone and tablet, 21 measurements were comparable with
Dolphin while other three (NLA, H-angle and UL to S-plane) were not. In OneCeph on PC,
20 measurements were comparable with Dolphin while other four (NLA, H-angle, U1 to A-point
and UL to S-plane) were not. All different measurements were clinically insignificant except H-angle.
Intra-examiner reliability represented ICC above 0.9. In conclusion, OneCeph application on three
different screen size is reliable to use for cephalometric measurement. Most of the measurements are
comparable with gold standard and adequate to be utilised in clinical routine. OneCeph on smartphone
and tablet are advantageous from the portable feature over PC.

Dual-magnetic circuit beads and scattering nephelometry dual channel semiautomatic coagulometers are used for the coagulational evaluation of the 5 blood contact medical devices which consist of metals and polymers. The partial thromboplastin time(PTT) and prothrombin time(PT) tests are made based on the GB/T 16886.4-2003 standard. The results indicate that the coefficient of variation in the two groups is in the identical order of magnitude. In the PTT tests, they give the similar evaluational results. With the smaller numerical values of the PT tests, the different coagulometers give the high consilience results. So, both of dual-magnetic circuit beads and scattering nephelometry coagulometers are acceptable in the medical devices' coagulational evaluations. But the interpretation and analysis of the results of the small numerical value tests, PT tests for example, should be noticed.
