AIM: To observe the clinical effect of Ex - press glaucoma filtration device implantation under scleral flap for traumatic glaucoma.
METHODS: Totally 19 eyes of 19 patients with traumatic glaucoma were implanted with Ex - press glaucoma filtration device under the scleral flap from December 2012 to May 2013. The postoperative visual acuity, anterior chamber depth and hyphema,intraocular pressure(IOP), filtering bleb and other complications were observed and summarized.
RESULTS: Ex - press glaucoma filtration device were implanted successfully in 19 patients. At 1d postoperatively shallow anterior chamber was occurred in 2 eyes and hyphema was occurred in 3 eyes. At 3mo postoperatively increased vision was occurred in 9 eyes (47%),functional filtering bleb was occurred in 18 eyes ( 95%), and IOP was 12. 1 ± 6. 1mmHg. At 6mo postoperatively increased vision was occurred in 11 eyes (58%),functional filtering bleb was occurred in 18 eyes (95%),and IOP was 13. 3±6. 9mmHg. Compared with the preoperative IOP ( 29. 8 ± 6. 7mmHg), the difference was significant(P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Ex - press glaucoma filtration device implantationfor traumatic glaucoma can improve the postoperative vision and control the postoperative IOP stably with fewer complications and high safety.

AIM:To explore the protective effects of atorvastatin on blood brain barrier (BBB) in cerebral is-chemia-reperfusion ( IR) injury and the potential mechanisms involved .METHODS: SD rats were divided into sham group, IR group and atorvastain group .Intraluminal suture method was used to establish cerebral IR model , and the ische-mic brain was reperfused for 72 h after the occlusion.The rats in atorvastatin group were administered with atorvastatin (20 mg? kg-1? d-1 ) by gavage once a day for 3 consecutive days after operation .At 72 h after reperfusion , neurological func-tion scores, the water content of the brain tissue , Evans blue (EB) content of ischemic hemisphere , the expression of tight junction ( TJ )-associated protein occludin and inflammation factor phosphatidylinositiol 3-kinase-p110 gamma ( PI3K-p110γ) were tested and analyzed .RESULTS: In IR group, the rats showed elevated neurological function scores ( P<0.01), brain tissue water content (P<0.01) and EB content (P<0.01), accompanied with the down-regulation of oc-cludin expression (P<0.01) and up-regulation of PI3K-p110γ(P<0.01) at 72 h after reperfusion.Compared with IR group, decreased brain edema (P<0.01) and EB leakage (P<0.01) were observed in atorvastatin group , accompanied with increased occludin expression (P<0.01) and decreased PI3K-p110γexpression (P<0.01).However, no statistical difference of the neurological function scores between the 2 groups was observed .CONCLUSION:Atorvastain attenuates cerebral IR injury , which may be associated with the inhibition of inflammatory reactions and the up -regulation of TJ-asso-ciated proteins to maintain the stability of BBB .

Objective To explore the optimal situation of labeling bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) with superparamagnetic iron oxides (SPIO) mediated by poly-L-lysine (PLL), and determine the most optimal protocol of magnetic resonance imaging according to the patterns of MR in vitro. Methods BMSCs were isolated from white rat and purified, incubated with SPIO-PLL complexes at the range of concentrations (0, 4.2, 8.4, 21, 42, 84 ?g Fe per ml medium). The labeling ratio and distribution of SPIO particles in BMSCs, and the morphological evidence of abnormal visualization were evaluated by Prussian blue staining, fluorescent microscope and electron microscopy. MTT growth curves and magnetic resonance imagings were obtained at the range of concentrations. Trypan blue exclusion test was performed to elevate the viability of BMSCs labeled with PLL at the range of concentrations (0, 0.05, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, 5.0 ?g PLL per ml medium). BACKGROUND: As magnetic resonance (MR) contrast, a large number of clinical and experimental researches have been done on superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO), while the report on the labeled cell passaged cells is rare.OBJECTIVE: MR imaging was performed to the labeled bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and its passaged cells in vitro, in order to establish the base of monitoring magnetic labeled BMSCs with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in vivo.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The cytological in vitro experiment was performed at the Imaging Research Institute and Institute of Rheumatology and Immunology of North Sichuan Medical College Hospital from June 2006 to January 2007. MATERIALS: Two clean female albino rats (Animal Center, North Sichuan Medical College), SPIO (Schering AG,Germany) were used in this study.METHODES: Bilateral femur and tibia bone marrow was extracted from rats. BMSCs were harvested and purified using the adherent method, and then labeled with 600 μL ferric oxide-polylysine compound (42 mg/L iron concentration) in vitro. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Cell maker-positive rate and the MR signal intensity were respectively measured to the labeled cells and its passaged cells under the inverted microscope and magnetic resonance imaging. RESULTS: Following Prussian blue staining, labeling rate of SPIO labeled cells at the first passage was 100%. With increased passage, the labeling rate was reduced from the first to fifth passages. Compared with non-labeled PBS control, there was no significant difference in signal intensity in the first and second passages cells, but the signal intensity percentage was gradually decreased with signal intensity of increased cell passage from the third passage. Cell labeling rate was negatively correlated with T2~*WI signal intensity (r=-0.986 6, P <0.005). CONCLUSION: The iron particles in the magnetic labeled cells can be passaged to the offspring cells, and can be monitored in a certain period of time with MRI in vitro. These results firstly introduced that SPIO-labeled cell iron particles can decrease with cell passage.

Abstract: Objective　To detect the antibody levels of hantavirus in serum samples from patients suspected with hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in Heilongjiang Province from 2019 to 2021, and to provide scientific basis for the prevention and control of disease. Methods　Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) were used to detect the IgM antibodies to hantavirus in serum samples collected from suspected patients with HFRS in the acute-phase, and IgM and IgG antibody in convalescent-phase serum samples. The positive rate of IgM antibody in acute-phase serum samples of patients in different years was analyzed with χ2 test by SPSS 19.0, and the data were sorted out and analyzed about patients' gender, occupation, age, date of onset and interval from onset to initial diagnosis by EpiData 3.1, Excel 2003 software. Results　A total of 351 acute-phase serum samples and 208 convalescent-phase serum samples were detected in patients suspected with HFRS, respectively. There were 317 positive IgM antibodies of serum samples in the acute stage, with the positive rate of 90.31%. There was no significant difference in the positive rate of IgM antibodies in the acute stage between different years (χ2=0.895, P=0.639). T The IgM antibodies and IgG antibodies were positive in 32 (15.39%) and 28 (13.46%) of the convalescent-phase serum samples, respectively. Moreover, 148 patients (71.15%) were double-positive for IgM and IgG antibodies at the convalescent stage. The ratio of male to female patients was 4.56∶1, for which male patients were much more than female patients. Occupation was dominated by farmers (253 cases, 79.81%), followed by workers (19 cases, 5.99%) and the unemployed (17 cases, 5.36%), respectively. The age of patients ranged from 10 to 88 years old, with a median age of 49 years old. Most of the patients were in the age group from 30 years old to 60 years old (209 cases, 65.93%), among which the age group from 40 years old to 50 years old (86 cases, 27.13%) had the highest proportion, and the age group from 60 years old to 90 years old had a proportion of 20.18% (19 cases). May and November were the peak periods of HFRS in Heilongjiang Province. The median interval between onset and initial diagnosis was 4 days. Conclusions　There is a gap of about 10% between the clinical diagnosis of HFRS cases and the confirmed cases detected by laboratory in Heilongjiang Province from 2019 to 2021. The virus-specific detection results are important for confirming the diagnosis of local patients with HFRS.

Objective To investigate the effect of angiotensin Ⅱ(AngⅡ) and losartan on ? cells,and its related molecular mechanisms.Methods Normally cultured RIN-m cells were divided into three groups:control group(cultured with RPMI 1640 medium),AngⅡ group(treated with 100 nmol/L AngⅡ),losartan group(treated with 1 ?mol/L losartan 15min before addition of 100nmol/L AngⅡ).After incubation for another 48h,the apoptosis rate of RIN-m cells was quantified by flow cytometry(FCM) with Annexin-V FITC/PI dual staining.The expressions of Bcl-2 and Bax mRNA and protein were determined by RT-PCR and Western blotting,and the activities of Caspase 3 and Caspase 9 were detected by spectrophotometry.Results The apoptosis rate of RIN-m cells was significantly higher in AngⅡgroup than in both control and losartan group(P0.05).In comparison to the control group,the expressions of Bcl-2 mRNA and protein significantly declined,while of Bax mRNA and protein increased obviously in AngⅡ group(P0.05),but the expressions of Bcl-2 mRNA and protein were significantly higher(P0.05).Conclusion AngⅡ may induce the apoptosis of ? cells through mitochondrial pathway,and pre-intervention with losartan,which partly reverses the effect of AngⅡ,may play a protective effect on ? cells.
