Hip-stressed lower limb specific strength training apparatus is a new kind of training equipment with the combination of specific technical strength training and quantitative evaluating. Base on the mechanism of sports physiology and sports biomechanics, by applying the theory of motor learning and control, the apparatus adopts the training model of the "hip stress loading device" and "hip-feet starting and ending stress point" to simulate the track of working limb in running, jumping and throwing, controls the degrees of body movement freedom reasonably. For the first time, actualizes the heavy load specific strength and sports skill training of leg driving, leg pawing and trunk-backward knees-bend leg driving. The distinctive training pattern of forced track control and the training method of strength & skill coupling" used in this apparatus, makes the action in strength training approach to real sport skill in greatest extent, and shifts the result of strength training to the skill training as much as possible. So it remarkably increase the efficiency of strength training and has an great importance in changing the concept of strength training.

Background and purpose: With the increase of aging population, elderly patients (age ≥70 years) with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma occurred more and more. However, few studies have focused on elderly esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients. This study aimed to assess the outcomes and prognostic factors for elderly patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma treated after deifnitive chemoradiotherapy. Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 53 patients (age≥70 years) with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and treated with deifnitive radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy from Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center from Mar. 2009 to Dec. 2011. Results:Median age was 74 years. Twenty-nine patients underwent radiotherapy, 24 patients underwent radiochemotherapy. 1-, 2-, 3-, and 5- year survival was 62%, 44%, 33% and 19% respectively. Grade 2 and above acute radiation-induced esophageal toxicity and radiation pneumonitis occur rate was 6% and 9% respectively. No treatment-related deaths occurred and no patients experienced any grade 4 and above toxicities. Multivariate analysis identiifed treatment modality, tumor site and smoking history as independent prognostic factors for overall survival. Conclusion:Radiotherapy may be an acceptable treatment option for elderly patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. In appropriately selected patients, concurrent chemotherapy could bring a better overall survival.

Acupuncture as an effective complementary and alternative therapy can effectively relieve inflammatory and neurogenic pain, and a proper animal model is a key link to ensure the quality of research in acupuncture analgesia. This article makes some suggestions for improving model making methods, unifying model assessing criteria, and selecting and locating acupoints by analyzing present commonly used animal models of acupuncture analgesia and the present situation of their application and identifying some problems about model making methods, evaluation indices, acupoint selection and clinical transformation existing in animal models of acupuncture analgesia in order to promote the development of basic research in acupuncture.

Objective To evaluate the sera level of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) and soluble E-selectin (sE-selectin) in patients with rheumatic diseases and to explore the correlation between the sera level of soluble adhesion molecules (sAM) and clinical findings. Methods The concentrations of sICAM-1 and sE-selectin in the sera of patients with rheumatic diseases (SLE, RA, PM/DM) and patients without rheumatic diseases, as well as the healthy controls were measured by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ObjectiveTo assess the safety and clinical values of video-laryngoscope in spontaneous respiration tracheal intubation for emergency patients. Methods Seventy-nine patients,who needed the endotracheal intubation,were recruited in our department between January 2010 and December 2010,and were randomly ( random number) divided into two groups according to consultative sequence.Forty patients (group A ) were operated with traditional laryngoscope and thirty-nine patients (group B ) with videolaryngoscope.The operative time and success rate of tracheal intubation,Cormack-Lehane classification,as well as adverse events,were recorded.The heart rate ( HR ),mean arterial blood pressure ( MAP),respiratory rate ( RR ),and saturation of pulse oxygen ( SpO2 ) were observed pre-operation,during operation and 2 min post-operation.Results( 1 ) The Cormack-Lehane classification in group A were significantly lower than in group B. (2) The operative time of tracheal intubation in group B was significantly less than that in group A [(35.6+12.7) svs. (58.3 ± 13.5) s; P＜0.05] ; and one-time success rate of tracheal intubation in group B was higher than that in group A ( 84.6％ vs.52.5％ ; P ＜0.05).(3) Compared to group B,the HR and MAP in Group A were significantly increased at t2 and t3 ( P ＜ 0.05 ). ( 4 ) The adverse events,including restlessness,bucking and injury,were significantly decreased in group B than those in group A ( P ＜ 0.05 ).ConclusionsThe video-laryngoscope used in spontaneous respiration tracheal intubation,could improve Cormack-Lehane classification,short operative time,enhance one-time success rate and reduce adverse evevnts.
