Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis. Accumulated evidence has revealed that OSAS can induce systemic inflammation, oxidative stress, and endothelial dysfunction, which will contribute to the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. T lymphocytes can be activated by inflammation and oxidative stress, resulting in the elevated cytotoxicity towards vascular endothelial cells. Thus, T lymphocytes play a key role in OSAS-related atherosclerosis development or progression via immuno-inflammatory alterations. This review described the current development of the role of T lymphocytes in OSAS-related atherosclerosis.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2014;39(1):40-43
This study was conducted to investigate the physicochemical properties of Polyporus umbellatus sclerotial exudate. Morphological characteristics of the sclerotia and its exudate were observed during different stages of sclerotial formation. The pH of the exudate was detected at different time during cultivation. A phenol-sulfuric acid method was employed to determine the polysaccharide content of P. umbellatus sclerotial exudate during cultivating time. Additionally, the protein content was measured by means of BCA protein assay. Furthermore, CAT content was detected using ultraviolet absorption method. That the protein content of the exudate and CAT specific activity rose gradually during the passage of the cultivating time indicated a high level of oxidative stress during P. umbellatus sclerotial exudate formation. The results showed that the pH of the exudate increased gradually and then dropped down during sclerotial formation. That the pH of the exudate maintained the acidity state during the cultivation indirectly indicated that acidic environment would help sclerotial formation. The exudate produced gradually and was absorbed by the sclerotia itself.

International Eye Science 2014;(10):1879-1881
AIM: To assess the changes of macular thickness of acquire immunodeficiency syndrome ( AIDS) patients.
METHODS:The study based on the data analysis of 38 human immunodeficiency virus ( HIV ) positive patients ( 64 eyes ) . According to CD4 count and whether cytomegalovirus retinitis ( CMVR) happened, the patients were divided into 3 groups. Group A included 16 patients (32 eyes), in which CD4 count was < 50cells/μL and CMVR did not happen. Group B included 10 patients ( 20 eyes), in which CD4 count was>50cells/μL and CMVR did not happen. Group C included 12 patients (12 eyes), in which CD4 count was < 50cells/μL and CMVR just happened. Group D included 10 healthy people ( 20 eyes ) , as normal control group. By using optical coherence tomography ( OCT ) , thickness of retina along with a 1mm diameter circle centered on macular was evaluated.
RESULTS:The mean foveal thicknesses in groups A, B, C and D were 254. 03±15. 63μm, 263. 11±17. 12μm, 304. 50±50. 62μm and 257. 64±8. 54μm in order. Compared with foveal thickness in each group, there were significant differences in general (F=12. 933, P=0. 000). The mean foveal thickness in groups CMVR increased, which was of significant difference (P= 0. 000), compared with other groups.
CONCLUSION: CMVR can impair the structure and function of macular, which then seriously affects the visual function of patients. It's helpful to understand the progress and prognosis of CMVR disease by observing macular structure with OCT in early time.

Objective To explore the role of CD 30 on CD4 + T lymphocyte and T lymphocyte subset activation in asthma pathogenesis. Methods Twenty seven asthma active attack patients,16 acute upper respiratory infection patients and 19 control children were randomly selected. Direct immunofluorescence flow cytometry was used to detect the CD 30 positive percentage on CD4 +cell; ELISA was used to detect the levels of interleukin(IL) 4 and IL 13 in culture supernatants of peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMC) and plasma total immunoglobulin E(IgE) level. Results Compared with control group and acute upper respiratory infection group, in asthmatic children the CD4 +CD 30 + percentage on CD4 + cell was elevated significantly; 2.The levels of IL 4 and IL 13 in supernatants of cultured lymphocyte were increased significantly, the plasma total IgE level was increased significantly;3.There was a significant positive correlation of CD4 +CD 30 + cell percentage with the levels of IL 4 and IL 13 in culture supernatants and plasma total IgE.Conclusions The cell that could produce Th2 derived cytokine may consist of CD 30 +cell; When CD 30 L combined with CD 30 on CD4 + cells ,it might result in Th2 cell proliferation ,develop and release Th2 derived cytokine; IL 4 and IL 13 could induce B cell production and secrete more IgE. It is suggested that CD 30 and imbalance of Th2 subset may play an important role in asthma pathogenesis.

Objective To observe and compare the value of B brain natriuretic peptide( BNP)and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide( NT-proBNP)in the diagnosis of heart failure after neonatal asphyxia, and to optimize early clinical diagnosis. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 124 neonatal asphyxia cases from January 2013 to October 2015,who were divided into heart failure group(53 cases)and control group(71 cases)according to whether complicated with heart failure. Comparison was conducted on BNP,NT-proBNP,cardiac troponin T( cTnT),creatine kinase isoenzyme( CK-MB)through blood sam-pling from femoral vein puncture within 48 h. And Logistic regression analysis was introduced into explore effecting factors of heart failure, besides, correlations between BNP,NT-proBNP and left ventricular ejection fraction( LVEF)of asphyxia children were calculated, and receiver operating characteristic curve( ROC)was introduced into analyzing of BNP and NT-proBNP for diagnostic efficacy of heart failure after neonatal asphyxia. Results Heart failure group whose BNP[(835. 8 ± 154. 7)pg/ml vs. (235. 4 ± 38. 5)pg/ml], NT-proBNP(25 903. 8 pg/ml vs. 6 974. 5 pg/ml),cTnT[(0. 21 ± 0. 06)ng/ml vs. (0. 11 ± 0. 03)ng/ml], CK-MB[(61. 3 ± 11. 7)U/L vs. (40. 8 ± 9. 5)U/L]were significantly higher than those of control group ( P﹤0. 05). Logistic regression analysis indicated BNP and NT-proBNP were closely related with newborn heart failure(ORBNP =3. 013,P﹤0. 001;ORNT-proBNP =3. 808,P=0. 006). BNP and NT-proBNP were both significantly negatively correlated with LVEF(rBNP = -0. 650,P=0. 007;rNT-proBNP = -0. 721,P﹤0. 001). The ROC curve indicated the diagnostic efficacy of BNP and NT-proBNP for heart failure after neonatal as-phyxia were 0. 868,0. 911,with the highest diagnosis cut-off value were 268. 8 pg/ml,3 972. 3 pg/ml,respec-tively. Conclusion BNP and NT proBNP are specific indicators reflecting heart failure after neonatal as-phyxia,and NT-proBNP with higher auxiliary diagnostic efficacy comparatively.
