Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2015;31(10):837-838
The prevalence of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic non-communicable diseases is increasing rapidly world-wide.Most recent epidemiological data showed that China is now in an era of obesity, and under a huge burden of the complications related with obesity, diabetes,as well as cerebral-and cardiovascular disorders.Strenuous efforts, comprehensive strategies, effective measures, and practical solutions must all be taken to combat against these chronic diseases.
3.Antihypertensive Effect of Pomegranate Polyphenols in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats
China Pharmacist 2016;19(2):255-258
Objective: To observe the anti-hypertensive effect of pomegranate polyphenols in spontaneously hypertensive rats ( SHR) and explore the underlying mechanism. Methods:Totally 40 male SHR rats at the age of 12 weeks were randomly divided into five groups:SHR control group, pomegranate polyphenols groups respectively at the dose of 120 mg·kg-1 , 240 mg·kg-1 and 480 mg ·kg-1 , and captopril group at the dose of 15 mg·kg-1 . The age-matched Wistar-Kyoto ( WKY) rats were randomly divided into two groups:WKY control group and pomegranate polyphenols group at the dose of 480 mg·kg-1 . All the rats were given corresponding drug or water by intragastric administration for four weeks. The systolic blood pressure ( SBP) and diastolic blood pressure ( DBP) were measured weekly. After the 4-week administration, the rats were fasted 12 hours and anaesthetized with 25% urethane solution. The blood samples were collected from abdominal aorta. The serum concentrations of angiotensin II ( Ang II) and endothelin ( ET) were de-termined by euzymelinked immunosorbent assay. The concentration of nitric oxide ( NO) in serum was determined by nitrate reduction test. Results:Pomegranate polyphenols could significantly lower the SBP and DBP, decrease the serum concentrations of Ang II and ET, and increase the serum concentration of NO(P<0.05 or P<0.01). In addition, pomegranate polyphenols had no effects on blood pressure and vasoactive substances in WKY rats. Conclusion: Pomegranate polyphenols has anti-hypertensive effect in SHR rats. The mechanism may be related to regulating the expression of vasoactive substances, such as Ang II, ET and NO.
4.Application of covered stents in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms
International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2014;22(3):231-236
Since the 1960s,endovascular coil embolization has gradually become another treatment for intracranial aneurysms in addition to craniotomy clipping surgery, and in recent years,it has become the preferred method for many neurologists. However, the complexity of intracranial vascular anatomy and the diversity of intracranial aneurysm make the coil embolization alone unable to meet the needs of all intracranial aneurysms. And then some novel materials and techniques emerged, such as coated coils,balloon-assisted embolization,stent-assisted embolization, and covered stents. The principle of covered stents for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms is to place a kind of stents with bio-physical barriers into the parent arteries, while maintaining the patency of the parent artery, thus isolating aneurysms, leading to thrombogenesis inside and finally curing the lesions while maintaining the patency of parent arteries. It has huge advantage in the treatment of wide-necked,huge,dissecting and pseudo aneurysms without important adjacent branch vessels. This article reviews the application situation and the prospects of development of covered stents in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms.
5.Analysis of diagnosis and treatment of intrahepatic biliary cystadenoma
Chinese Journal of General Surgery 2001;0(08):-
Objective To improve the recognition of intrahepatic biliary cystadenoma. Methods The clinical manifestations, radiologic features, diagnosis and surgical treatment of 18 patients with intrahepatic biliary cystadenomaadmitted in our hospital during the recent 8 years were retrospectively analyzed. Results Four cases were discovered by general medical examination, while the other 14 patients had varying symptoms that included right upper abdominal discomfort or pain in 11 cases, abdominal mass in 3 cases, and jaundice accompaniedby fever in 2 cases.B ultrasound and CT scan showed intrahepatic cystic occupying lesions consistingof multilocular or single cyst, and usually with papillary structures in the cyst wall. All of 18 cases received surgical resection. The patholgic dingnosis was intrahepatic biliary cystadenoma in all the 18 cases, and 6 of them showed malignant change. The average survival time of maligmant patients was 35(27-58)months.Conclusions Preoperative diagnosis of intrahepatic biliary cystadenoma is difficult.Intrahepatic biliarycystadenoma is easy to develop into cystadenocarcinoma.Early surgical resection is necessary, and can effectively prevent recurrence or malignant transformation.
6.An analysis of HIV test results among pregnant women in Henan province in 2005-2007
Chinese Journal of AIDS & STD 2006;0(04):-
Objective To understand the HIV infection status among pregnant women in Henan province and provide basis for preventing mother to child transmission of AIDS.Methods The HIV-test results obtained from January 2005 to May 2007 among pregnant woman in 31 counties(districts)with relatively high HIV prevalence were analyzed. Results A total of 720 605 pregnant woman were tested for HIV antibody,of whom 541 were identified HIV positive and the HIV-positive rate was 0.08%.Of the 364 HIV positive pregnant women 223(61.26%)decided voluntarily to terminate pregnancy, while 136(37.88%)chose to continue with their pregnancy, and the proportion of HIV positive pregnant women who continued with the pregnancy in the 3 different years was 31.51%(46/146),36.31%(57/157)and 54.10%(33/61),respectively,showing an yearly rising trend.Of the 284 HIV positive mothers 250(88.03%)received PMTCT intervention. Conclusion The rate of PMTCT in HIV-positive pregnant women can be further improved by increasing HIV testing among pregnant women and HIV positive women of child bearing age and by early identifying and managing them.
7.Ketosis-prone diabetes
Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 1986;0(04):-
Ketosis-prone diabetes is most commonly seen in type 1 diabetic patients. Long-term of glycemic control not depending on insulin is one of the characteristics of type 2 diabetes.Patients with both of the manifestations may form a new group other than type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus.

10.Association of sex hormones with atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases and related events
Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 1985;0(01):-
The cardiovascular system is closely associated with sex hormones. The risk factors of the cadiovascular diseases or related events, such as lipid metabolism, coagulatory function and vascular endothelium function are affected by sex hormones and their analogues by a number of pathways. Consensus is generaly reached about hormone replacement therapy (HRT) among menopausal women except the effects on cardiovascular system, which removined to be controversial. It is recommended that women should consult their doctors for their individulized administration of HRT.
