China Pharmacy 2016;27(5):681-683
OBJECTIVE:To observe the effects of nimodipine on peripheral facial paralysis and hearing in mimetic convulsion patients after microvascular decompression. METHODS:162 mimetic convulsion patients underwent microvascular decompression were enrolled in this study, and then randomly divided into control group and observation group,81 cases in each group. Control group was given routine microvascular decompression, and observation group was additionally given intravenous pump of Nimodip-ine injection 40 mg,qd,2 mg/h for consecutive 3 days after operation, and then given Nimodipine tablet 40 mg,qd,for 10 days. The incidence of peripheral facial paralysis and hearing disorder, onset time, duration time and severity of facial paralysis were ob-served in 2 groups. RESULTS:The incidence of peripheral facial paralysis and hearing disorder were 8.6% and 6.2% in observa-tion group, which were significantly lower than 14.8%and 11.1%of control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05). The on-set and duration time of peripheral facial paralysis was(15.32±3.15)d and(36.52±5.84)d in observation group, which were sig-nificantly later and lower than(12.21±2.16)d and(44.73±6.57)d of control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05). Ac-cording to House-Brackman classification method, the incidence of Ⅲ、Ⅳ facial paralysis was lower in control group than that in observation group, with statistical significance (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Nimodipine can significantly decrease the incidence of peripheral facial paralysis and hearing disorder in mimetic convulsion patients after microvascular decompression, and contrib-utes to the recovery of injured nerve function.
6.Splenectomy for idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura
Chinese Journal of General Surgery 2001;0(08):-
Objective To study the results of splenectomy for patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP), which refractory to medical therapy or with repeat recurrence of symptoms. Methods 58 ITP (patients) who failed to respond to conservative management were treated with splenectomy and the clinical (outcome) was observed. Postoperatively, 52 cases were followed up for 6 months to 12 years, and in 48 of these cases the followup was more than 1 year. Results Platelet count recovered to normal(≥100?10~9/L ) two weeks after operation in 47 cases(81.03%). The total effective rate was 79.31% when (followed-up) for 2 months, 78.85% when followed-up for 6 months and 11 cases had recurrence. (Conclusions) Splenectomy is a safe and effective therapy for patients with ITP who failed to respond to (conservative) management or have relapse of ITP. Patients who showed temporary response to preoperative (steroid) therapy and those who had an early or a high amplitude of increase of platelet count after operation have better prognosis.
7.The change and significance of local plasma fibrinogen during acute myocardial ischemia
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(02):-
It is general belied that myocardial ischemia caused an increase of plasma fibrinogen(Fg),but the changes of Fg in ischemic region is not clear. In 17 open chest dogs, an external stenosis or infarction was produced by a micro-meter constrictor on left circumflex coronary artery. The changes of Fg and platelet count(PC) in coronary sinus were observed for 60 min. The results showed that acute myocardial ischemia produed a decrease in Fg when coronary artery stenosis was more than 75%; there was also a decrease in PC when stenosis was more than 90%. The reduced amplitude of PC was more than that of Fg. Histopathologic examination confirmed the presence of damanged endothelial cell, platelet adhesion and aggregation coronary thrombosis and microemboli in ischemic region It is suggested that acute myocardial ischemia lead to a decrease of Fg in the ischemic myocardium, which was associated with platelet aggregation and coronary thrombosis.
8.Human peripheral blood lymphocytes causing destruction of sheep erythrocytes
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(01):-
Human peripheral blood lymphocytes and sheep red blood cells(SRBC)were incubated together in Hanks solution containing Ca~(2+) and Mg~(2+) ion, causing SRBC destruction and release of hemoglobin, 500%hemolysis value was found to 6.1921?0.06. The destruction of SRBC by lymphocytes was inhibited by trypsinase, its 50% hemolysis value became 0.0348?0.03 (P
9.Improved methods of establishing rabbit VX2 hepatocarcinoma models
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2015;(27):4361-4364
BACKGROUND:Rabbit VX2 hepatocarcinoma models are characterized by expanded and infiltrative growth, abundant blood supply, similar pathological and imaging features to human hepatocelular carcinoma, so this model is ideal for imaging experiments. OBJECTIVE: To establish rabbit VX2 hepatocarcinoma models and compare two different laparotomy methods in establishing rabbit VX2 hepatocarcinoma models. METHODS:Thirty New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into two groups: traditional laparotomy (tumor particles were directly embedded into the liver with tweezers) and improved laparotomy (tumor particles were injected into the liver through a 15G syringe needle). The growth features of the tumor established in two different ways were compared by ultrasound. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The tumor formation rate was 100% in the two groups; the single rate was respectively 50% and 90%; the ectopic implantation rate was 50% and 10%, there were significant differences between two groups (P < 0.05). The mortality rate within 2 weeks was 33% and 0 in the two groups, with significant differences (P < 0.05). The improved laparotomy method is feasible for modeling rabbit VX2 hepatocarcinoma, due to minimal injury, short operation time, high success rate and stable features.
10.Antihypertensive Effect of Pomegranate Polyphenols in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats
China Pharmacist 2016;19(2):255-258
Objective: To observe the anti-hypertensive effect of pomegranate polyphenols in spontaneously hypertensive rats ( SHR) and explore the underlying mechanism. Methods:Totally 40 male SHR rats at the age of 12 weeks were randomly divided into five groups:SHR control group, pomegranate polyphenols groups respectively at the dose of 120 mg·kg-1 , 240 mg·kg-1 and 480 mg ·kg-1 , and captopril group at the dose of 15 mg·kg-1 . The age-matched Wistar-Kyoto ( WKY) rats were randomly divided into two groups:WKY control group and pomegranate polyphenols group at the dose of 480 mg·kg-1 . All the rats were given corresponding drug or water by intragastric administration for four weeks. The systolic blood pressure ( SBP) and diastolic blood pressure ( DBP) were measured weekly. After the 4-week administration, the rats were fasted 12 hours and anaesthetized with 25% urethane solution. The blood samples were collected from abdominal aorta. The serum concentrations of angiotensin II ( Ang II) and endothelin ( ET) were de-termined by euzymelinked immunosorbent assay. The concentration of nitric oxide ( NO) in serum was determined by nitrate reduction test. Results:Pomegranate polyphenols could significantly lower the SBP and DBP, decrease the serum concentrations of Ang II and ET, and increase the serum concentration of NO(P<0.05 or P<0.01). In addition, pomegranate polyphenols had no effects on blood pressure and vasoactive substances in WKY rats. Conclusion: Pomegranate polyphenols has anti-hypertensive effect in SHR rats. The mechanism may be related to regulating the expression of vasoactive substances, such as Ang II, ET and NO.
