Kynurenine 3-monooxygenase (KMO) is a key rate-limiting enzyme in the downstream catabolism of kynurenine pathway (KP). Under the catalysis of KMO, the intermediate product kynurenine is metabolized into various active metabolites, including 3-hydroxykynurenine (3-HK), quinolinic acid (QA) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD⁺). More and more studies have shown that abnormal KMO expression activity mediates KP metabolic disorders, and is involved in the occurrence and development of nervous system diseases, autoimmune diseases, infectious diseases and tumors, suggesting that KMO can be used as a potential and effective drug therapeutic target. This article focuses on the role of KMO in the pathological mechanism of various diseases, and summarizes the existing KMO inhibitors to provide methods and ideas for targeted KMO therapy.

This paper reports the nursing care of 12 patients with idiopathic scoliosis treated with halo-pelvic traction preoperatively which focused on breathing training, traction frame management. One patient suffered from temporary brachial plexus injury and four cases suffered from superior mesenteric artery syndrome. With 14-21 day's traction and nursing care, the correction rate of Cobb angle was 35%-50%,the forced vital capacity was improved by 25%,and all the patients received orthomorphia surgery in time. It is suggested that the patients with severe idiopathic scoliosis treated by halo-pelvic traction could take out-of-bed activity freely. It could not only relieve pain and reduce mental pressure, but also improve the safety of orthomorphia surgery.

Objective: To assess the validity and reliability of Chinese edition of SADQ. Methods: 105 stroke patients within 2 weeks after onset were assessed with Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD) and Beck Depression Inventory(BDI). While patients were completing these assessments, their carers were asked to complete SADQ in respect to the patients. SADQ was also administered to 30 carers on two occasions at a 2-week interval. Results: Test-retest reliability was 0.754, and internal consistency reliability was 0.809. The structure validity was evaluated by factor analysis. Objective To investigate the biocompatibility and biodegradability of mini-implants of PLA-based composites in experimental animals by histomorphometry, and to study its clinical application in orthodontic treatment. Methods Six adult male Beagle dogs were randomly divided into 3 groups, a total of 72 mini-implants were implanted to the mandibular. Two Beagle dogs were sacrificed at 2 months、4 months and 6 months after surgery. Animals were intramuscularly injected with tetracycline on 14 and 4 days before sacrifice. Mandibular specimens and the surfaces of mini-implants were examined with Cone beam CT, CBCT and Scanning Electronic Microscopy and SEM respectively. Histopathologocal changes were observed with toluidine blue staining and HE staining. Results The results of CBCT assay showed that the mini-implants were gradually radiopacity with the extension of time. SEM assay showed that the morphology of mini-implants surface was significantly changed;micro-implants degradation occured gradually.New bone formation was observed around the micro-implants within 10 days.Toluidine blue staining showed the formation of new bone around the mini-implants. However, the inflamma-tion around the implants was not observed. Conclusion The biocompatibility of biodegradable mini-implant is good. This mini-implant is biodegradable in vivo and can promote the formation of the surrounding bone tissue.

Objective To characterize the skin damage induced by ultraviolet radiation in officers was observed in 67.5% of the 1286 officers and soldiers:tanning in 62.05%(798/1286),photoaging in 18.66%(240/1286),polymorphous light eruption in 13.69%(176/1286)and sunbum in 13.30%(171/1286).Two hundred and thirteen subjects each had two kinds of skin amage,and 152 subjects each had three kinds of skin damage.With the time of being in the army and cumulative sun-exposure period,the prevalence of tanning,photoaging and polymorphous light eruption increased,while the prevalence of sunburn decreased.Sunburn mostly occurred in newly assigned soldiers.Conclusions The condition of skin damage nduced by ltraviolet radiation iS severe in officers and soldiers working in high altitude,and effective measures are warranted for the prevention and treatment of the skin damage.

To explore novel coumarin derivatives with more potent anti-proliferative activity, a series of novel compounds were designed and synthesized by linking Schiff base and N, N-bis (2-chloroethyl) amine pharmacophore of nitrogen mustards to the coumarin's framework. Their structures were confirmed by 1H NMR, MS and element analysis techniques. In vitro anti-proliferative activities were evaluated against HepG2, DU145 and MCF7 cell lines by the standard MTT assay. The results showed that some of the target compounds exhibited strong anti-proliferative activities against selected tumor cells, and compounds 7c, 7f, 7g, 7h and 7q were better than or equal to the activities of positive control, they deserved further development.

Objective To study the biomarker panel of superficial bladder transitional cell carcinoma(SBTCC)and analyze the biological pathway in tumorigenesis by Shotgun proteomics strategy.Methods Normal urothelium cells and cancer cells were harvested by laser capture microdissection from clinical specimen and the proteomic expression profile was identified by two-dimensional liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry.The isoelectric point,molecular weight,grand average of hydropathicity,transmembrane helices were analyzed by using proteomics tools.Gene ontology was used to comment the identified proteins.The pathway analysis was performed by ArrayTrack software,and visualized by GenMAPP.Results There were 440 and 218 proteins expressed in cancer cells and normal cells respectively,among them 388 proteins were differerntially expressed.All the database about identified proteins was deposited in an accessible form to researchers at http://www.Proteome-SBTCC.org.cn and http://www.Proteome-NHTE.org.cn.There were 267(68.8%)differentially expressed proteins which had GO biological process comments.The biological pathwavs of these proteins included MAPK signaling pathway,focal adhesion,oxidative phosphorylation,ECMreceptor interaction,etc.Conclusion Shotgun strategy proteomies database of normal transitional epithelium and SBTCC is successfully constructed.And the basis for the understanding of cell biology and discovery of biomarker panel for SBTCC iS provided.

Objective To analyze the ultrasonographic characteristics of breast cystic-solid lesions and to investigate the diagnostic value of BI-RADS breast imaging reporting and data system in this kind of disease Methods Imaging characteristics of 105 breast cystic-solid lesions of 93 patients were analyzed All the lesions were assessed by BI-RADS Histopathologic examination was used as the reference standard Results Among 105 lesions 57 54 3% were benign and 48 45 7% were malignant Differences in orientation shape margin calcification and vascularity were statistically significant between the benign and malignant lesions P < 0 05 whereas the echo pattern and the posterior acoustic feature did not show significant differences P >0 05).There were 5 1 predominantly solid mass,which appeared as solid mass with little dispersed or centralized cystic regions or solid mass with surrounding cystic regions,including 33 benign lesions and 1 8 malignant lesions.The area under the curves of ROC was 0.956 in this type.There were 25 lesions predominantly cystic,which had regular or irregular thick walls or septa,or had nodules protruding to the cystic component,including 1 1 benign lesions and 14 malignant lesions.The area under the curves of ROC was 0.753.There were 29 mixed solid-cystic mass,in which the solid component equaled to the cystic,including 13 benign lesions and 16 malignant lesions.The area under the curves of ROC was 0.887.The area under curves of ROC was 0.873 for the all breast cystic-solid lesions.The rates of malignant cystic-solid lesions in the three types had no significant difference(P >0.05).Conclusions Ultrasound is a useful tool for diagnosing breast cystic-solid lesions.The proportion of the cystic component is not helpful to differentiate malignancy from benignancy.

Objective: To observe the effects of procyanidins on myocardial apoptosis and related protein expressions of caspase-3, Bcl-2 and Bax in experimental rats with ischemia reperfusion (I/R) injury and to explore the possible mechanism. Methods: A total of 40 male SD rats were randomly assigned to 4 groups: Sham group, IR group, Low-dose procyanidin (50 mg?kg-1) group, and High-dose procyanidin (100 mg?kg-1) group. n=10 in each group and the rats were pre-treated by intra gastric drug administration once/day for 2 weeks, then left anterior descending artery (LAD) occlusion was conducted for 30 minutes followed by reperfusion for 120 minutes to establish IR model. Blood levels of CK-MB activity and myocardial infarction (MI) size were examined; protein expressions of caspase-3, Bcl-2 and Bax were determined by Western blot analysis; myocardial apoptotic index was measured by TUNEL method. Results: Compared with Sham group, IR group presented the higher CK-MB activity, enlarged MI size, increased index of apoptosis, elevated protein expressions of caspase-3 and Bax, while reduced protein expression of Bcl-2 and the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax, P<0.05. Compared with IR group, both Low-dose and High-dose procyanidin groups had the lower CK-MB activity, smaller MI size, decreased index of apoptosis, reduced protein expressions of caspase-3 and Bax, while elevated protein expression of Bcl-2 and the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax,P<0.05. Conclusion: Procyanidin could reduce myocardial apoptosis index in experimental IR rats, which might be related to decreased protein expressions of caspase-3 and Bax, increased protein expression of Bcl-2 and the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the inherent quality differences of different batches of Compound norethisterone tablet from different domestic enterprises by researching its in vitro dissolution,to provide reference for improving relevant standards in pharmacopoeia and optimizing production processes in drug manufacturers. METHODS:Orthogonal test was adopted to screen its dissolving conditions,small glass method was finally confirmed by detecting rotating speed,sampling time and dissolution medi-um,sampling determination was conducted with the dissolution medium of 0.5% sodium dodecyl sulfonate and rotating speed of 50 r/min and 45 min. And HPLC was adopted to simultaneously determine the in vitro dissolution of norethindrone and ethinyl estra-diol,then AV value method was adopted to detect the similarity of dissolution profiles of 8 batches of products from 2 domestic en-terprises. RESULTS:The dissolution profiles and similarity of AV value method showed the cumulative dissolution of 8 batches of Compound norethisterone tablet from 2 domestic enterprises had no significant difference at different time points,overall similarity was relatively high;but the ethinyl estradiol had certain difference,overall similarity was relatively low. CONCLUSIONS:The dif-ference of dissolution profiles of Compound norethisterone tablet may has effect on the drug efficacy,the production process and quality in domestic enterprises should be managed strictly. Meanwhile,the current method of dissolution is weak to distinguish from the quality,which needs to be improved urgently.
