2.Advances in research on population-based female breast cancer survival in China
Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology 2016;43(14):639-642
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in China and around the world. Population-based survival analysis can reflect the overall level of cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment in countries or regions, providing basic information for making efficient health policies. Breast cancer survival varies among countries or regions because of differences among races, so-cioeconomic factors, healthcare services, and cancer diagnosis and treatment. Breast cancer prognosis is closely related to tumor stage, status of receptors, and treatments. By determining the relationship between breast cancer survival and related factors, the re-sults can help in predicting the prognosis and evaluating the quality of care services. The article provides an overview of breast cancer survival in China and abroad, as well as references for cancer surveillance.

BACKGROUND: It is always the key issue of rheumatoid arthritis(RA) to treat articular gall. A kind of medicine with favorable therapeutic effects and safety is urgently needed in the clinics. 99Tc-methylene diphosphonate 99(Tc-MDP) receives generalized attentions on its therapeutic effects and safety since its application into RA therapy.OBJECTIVE: To explore the characters of 99Tc-MDP in the amelioration of articular dysfunction in RA patients.DESIGN: A before-and-after controlled study by employing patients as subjects.SETTING: Department of rheumatism and immunology of an affiliated hospital of a university.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 67 patients with RA at active phase including 11males and 56 females aged between 29 and 71 years old with the course of disease between 9 and 78 months and admitted by the Department of Rheumatism of Huaxi Hospital Affiliated to Sichuan University were in accordance with the RA diagnostic criteria established by American Rheumatism Association(ARA) in 1987. Serious heart, liver or kidney dysfunction, active gastrointestinal pathological changes, hematology and endocrinology diseases, allergic complexion, and women during pregnancy or breast-feeding period were eliminated.METHODS: Clinical indicators including articular edema index, articular pain, grip, morning stiffness duration, rest pain, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C reactive protein(CRP) were compared before and after therapy in 67 cases received 99Tc-MDP treatment. Integrated evaluation was performed after the completion of therapy. Effective meant 30% of improvement in symptoms and physical signs, and reduction in ESR and CRP. Side effects were observed and recorded simultaneously. Data were statistically analyzed.RESULTS: After 99Tc-MDP treatment,RA condition significantly improved,as well as each clinical indicator including articular edema index, articular pain index, morning stiffness duration, rest pain,ESR and CRP(P<0.05) . The total clinical effective rate of this medicine was 81% and the incidence of side effects was small and mild.CONCLUSION: 99Tc-MDP can ameliorate the articular dysfunction of RApatients, which is a safe medicine with strong effect.

Objective To explore the impact of family history of hypertension and diabetes mellitus on the phenotype of insulin resistance and the ?-cell function in normoglycemic subjects. Methods 275 normoglycemic subjects were divided into four groups according to family history of hypertension and diabetes, namely group combined with family history of hypertension and diabetes (H+D+group),group without family history of hypertension and diabetes (H-D-group),group without family history of hypertension but with diabetes (H-D+group),group with family history of hypertension but without diabetes (H+D-group). The homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR) and the function of insulin secretion (HOMA-?) was used to estimate insulin resistance and ?-cell function. Results The mean body mass index, waist to hip ratio, blood pressure, triglycerides, cholesterol and HOMA-IR were significantly higher in H+D+group than those in H-D-group,but HDL,HOMA-? were significantly lower in H+D+group than those in H-D-group (all P

Objective: We assessed whether inhalation of low dose of nitric oxide comparing with administering 100% oxygen during cardiac catheterization would be as a method to screen patients with congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension for operation. Methods: We chose 67 cases of congenital heart disease with pulmonary hypertension undergoing cardiac catheterization. While spontaneously breathing room air (FiO 2, 0 21), the pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) and pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) were recorded as baseline. Patients continued to breathing 40 ppm nitric oxide with FiO 2 0.30 and 100% oxygen, for 30 minutes. Effects of inhalation of nitric oxide on pulmonary vasculature were studied. Results: Comparing with breathing room air, after inhalation of 100% oxygen or 40 ppm nitric oxide, PAP, PVR and PRV/SVR were decreased significantly. Conclusion: Comparing with administer 100% oxygen, inhalation of nitric oxide is more sensible and reliable predictor in selecting patients with congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension for operation.
