1.Relationship of body mass index, blood glucose, and blood calcium with severity of acute pancreatitis
Journal of Chinese Physician 2014;(2):235-237
Objective To investigate the relationship of body mass index (BMI), blood glucose, and blood calcium with se-verity of acute pancreatitis .Methods A total of 127 cases of patients with acute pancreatitis was divided into 10 cases of severe acute pancreatitis group (SAP group), and 52 cases of mild acute pancreatitis group (MAP group), according to the severity.BMI, levels of blood sugar and blood calcium of two groups were compared , respectively .Correlation analysis was carried out among those parame-ters.Results The differences in BMI, blood sugar, and blood calcium between SAP and MAP groups were statistically significant , respectively ( P <0.05).The differences in BMI, blood sugar, and blood calcium between patients [Ranson score≥3, Balthazar computed tomography(CT) grade D or E, and computed tomography severity index (CTSI)≥3)] and patients [Ranson score<3, Balthazar CT grade A , B, or C, and CTSI<3 ( P <0.05 ) ] were statistically significant ( P <0.05 ) , respectively .Pearson correla-tion coefficient analysis showed significantly positive correlations among BMI , blood glucose , blood calcium , Ranson score , Balthazar CT grade, and CTSI ( P <0.05).Conclusions Severity of acute pancreatitis patients was related to BMI , blood sugar, and blood calcium. All of them can be used as evaluation index of disease progression and prognosis in patients .

The nanocomposites of poly-diallyldimethylammonium chloride (PDADMAC) and CdTe quantum dots (QDs) (i.e.QDs-PDADMAC nanocomposites) have been prepared based on electrostatic interaction and their fluorescence stability in aqueous solution has been investigated. MTT method(3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazoliumbromide method) was used to study their cytotoxicity and A549 lung cancer cell as a model cell was also used to evaluate their cellular imaging. It was shown that the fluorescence stability of QDs-PDADMAC nanocomposites was much better than that of bare QDs both in aqueous solution and cell.Meanwhile,QDs-PDADMAC nanocomposites display very low cytotoxicity in the low concentrations and better staining ability compared with QDs.QDs-PDADMAC nanocomposites will have great advantage on the cell analysis detection and imaging.

Objective:To compare demographic characteristics, clinical characteristics, therapeutic characteris-tics and physiological indicators of patients with bipolar Ⅰ disorder and bipolar Ⅱ disorder. Methods:A total of 381 patients with bipolar disorder(BD)diagnosed by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5 th Edi-tion(DSM-5)were selected, including 302 patients with BD-Ⅰ(79.27%),74 patients with BD-Ⅱ(19.42%)and 5 patients with other specific and related disorders(1.31%).Demographic and clinical characteristics were collected with self-designed clinical information questionnaire.Multivariate logistic regression and multivariate linear regres-sion analysis were used for analysis. Results:Compared with patients with BD-Ⅱ,patients with BD-Ⅰ had more risk to have psychotic features(OR=5.75,95%CI:2.82-11.76),longer disease duration, and more repeated transcra-nial magnetic therapy(OR=3.09,95%CI:1.02-9.35),higher uric acid, total cholesterol and high-density lipo-protein.BD-Ⅰ in Han nationality was more common(OR=11.50,95%CI:1.76-75.30),and had lower education level(OR=10.22,95%CI:1.16-89.77),and less family history of psychosis(OR=2.34,95%CI:1.01-5.42).Conclusion:There are significant differences between BD-Ⅰ and BD-Ⅱ in demographic and clinical charac-teristics,treatment status, and physiological indicators, which could provide clues for exploring the pathogenesis of bipolar disorder.
