1.THE DECREASE OF SERUM FERRITIN LEVEL IN WOMEN USING INTRAUTERINE DEVICE AND ITS RESTORATION AFTER IRON-LOADING
Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(01):-
To study the effect of using a steel stainless intrauterine device(IUD) on the incidence of anemia and iron deficiency and thus to find a suitable way to prevent or cure it, the serum ferritin level of 176 women bearing such an IUD was determined (FER-IRON kit, Ramco laboratories, USA). As compared with the control group which was composed of 163 women having been performed with tubal sterilization, no distinct difference in hemoglobin levels and red cell counts was observed, but the serum ferritin level in IUD-bearing group decreased markedly (26.6?1.4 vs. 36.3?2.2 ng/ml, pears). When treated with ferrous sulfate (0.3 g, t.i.d.) for 7 days, the ferritin level of the group of these IUD users raised up to that of the control group rapidly. It was suggested that the supplement of iron in time for the IUD users suffering from menorrhagia was necessary and efficient.

Microbiology 2001;28(2):33-37
astaxanthin is an effective antioxidant and natural pigment which has wide application. Phaffia rhodozyma is a good source of astaxantin, but wild strain has limited use in industry because of low production level of astaxanthin. Several mutants of Phaffia rhodozyma were obtained by exerting mutagen N-methyl-N-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine. The growth curve suggested that pigments were mainly produced in the middle and latter periods of log phase. The pigments were extracted from Phaffia rhodozyma and analysed by esterification, thin layer chromatography and absorption spectrometry. It was proved that astaxanthin, astaxanthin diester and β-carotene were the major components of the pigments produced by Phaffia rhodozyma. We also studied the pigments producing phase of Phaffia rhodozyma. and founded that astaxanthin was stable to light under butylatedhydroxytoluene coexistance.

Chinese Journal of Primary Medicine and Pharmacy 2021;28(3):426-429
Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of biopolysaccharide colloidal solution (Shutaishu) in the prevention of intestinal adhesion after abdominal surgery. Methods:A total of 100 patients scheduled to undergo abdominal surgery in Quzhou Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from February to October in 2019 were included in this study. They were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 50 patients in each group. Before closing the abdomen after surgery, abdominal cavity and wound were flashed with Shutaishu and 0.9% sodium chloride injection in the observation and control groups, respectively. The recovery of gastrointestinal function, intestinal adhesion, abdominal pain and the incidence of complications were compared between the observation and control groups. Results:The time to first regular bowel sound [(28.81 ± 5.56) h], time to first passage of flatus [(36.34 ± 6.24) h], time to first defecation [(41.65 ± 8.77) h], time taken for walking [(3.78 ± 0.64) d] in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group [(32.75 ± 5.15) h, (41.51 ± 6.84) h, (48.05 ± 9.81) h, (4.27 ± 0.69) d, t = 3.68, 3.95, 3.89, 3.68, all P < 0.001]. At 5 and 30 days after surgery, the incidence of intestinal adhesion in the observation group [10.0% (5/50), 12.0% (6/50)] was significantly lower than that in the control group [26.0% (13/50), 30.0% (15/50), χ2 = 4.34, 4.88, both P < 0.05]. The total incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group [26.0% (13/50) vs. 54.0% (27/50), χ2 = 8.17, P < 0.05]. With time, visual analogue scale score was significantly decreased in both groups ( t = 3.51, 6.18, both P < 0.05). At 1, 3 and 5 days after surgery, visual analogue scale score in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group ( t = 4.07, 4.95 and 8.02, all P < 0.05). Conclusion:Biopolysaccharide colloidal solution is of high clinical value in the prevention of intestinal adhesion after abdominal surgery because it can promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function and early functional exercise, and has no obvious adverse reactions and complications.

China Oncology 2006;0(08):-
Background and purpose:Advanced and metastatic colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death. In the past ,the standard treatment for patients with advanced CRC was fluorouracil(5-FU) biochemically modulated by leucovorin(LV), which demonstrated a response rate of about 23% .In 1990s, a number of new treatment options have been available. In particular, one new cytotoxic agent ,irinotecan (CPT-11), which is a specific inhibitor of topoisomerase I, have been proven to have efficacy in the tretment of CRC .Furthermore, several first-line phase Ⅲ trials show a significant improvement in result with the addition of CPT-11 to FU-LV combination therapy (FOLFIRI).We observed the survival situation, efficacy and safety of irinotecan plus 5-FU/LV after first-line chemotherapy failure for Chinese patients with advanced or/and metastatic colorectal cancer. Methods:Twenty-four patients with metastatic colorectal cancer whose disease had progressed after treatment with first-line oxaliplatin or other chemotherapeutics were included to receive biweekly FOLFIRI regimen (irinotecan 180mg/m~ 2 on day 1,with LV 200mg/m~ 2 adiministrated as a 2-hour infusion before 5-FU 400mg/m~ 2 administrated as an intravenous bolus injection and FU⒉4g/m~ 2 as 46-hour infusion immediately after 5-FU bolus ).All the patients were planned to receive at least 6 cycles of chemotherapy .They were assessed on the basis of WHO evaluation standard of objective therapeutic effect for solid tumor.Results:24 patients were assessable to observe the efficacy and safety. No case was CR.5 case were PR, response rate was 20% (5/24). 17 case were SD , rate was 70% (17/24). 2 case were PD, rate was 8%(2/24). Median time to progression (TTP) were 6.6 months (6 to 24 months ),median overall survival was 10.7 months. The majority of adverse reaction were nausea, vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, leucopenia, alopecie. Most of them were Ⅰ/Ⅱ degree, only 6 cases reached III/IV degree. 3 cases had diarrhea with leucopenia and fever. Conclusions:The biweekly regimen of irinotcan in combination with 5-FU/LV results in significant and clinically meaningful improvement in survival and quality of life among patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. Toxicity is manageable.

To investigate the mechanism of moxibustion in regulating cellular apoptosis in rat's precancerous lesion of primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods:Seventy-four rats were randomly allocated to normal group, model group and moxibustion group, and the diethylic nitrosamine (DEN) was used to establish HCC model. Moxibustion with moxa cone which is as big as a grain of wheat was performed on acupoint Zusanli (ST 36),3 cones for each acupoint and 0.5 mg for each cone, the treatment was given once a day, totally 16 weeks. Then the changes in the body weight, liver weight and thymus weight,a morphological change in the liver tissue and changes in γ-GT and GST were observed;Immunohistochemical staining method was adopted to observe the tendency of changes in relevant apoptosis genes such as C-myc,N-ras and mutant type P53,and the influence of moxibustion on cell cycle modulation genes such as cyclinD1,CDK4 and p16. Results:Moxibustion could reduce the activities of γ-GT and GST in the blood, obviously decrease the protein expression of relevant apoptosis genes such as C-myc,N-ras and mutant type P53 and markedly inhibit the over-expression of relevant cell cycle modulation genes such as cyclinD1 and CDK4 and the mutation of cell cycle modulation gene p16. Conclusion:Moxibustion might play a certain role in relieving HCC precancerous lesion and its action mechanism might be related to the regulation on partial apoptosis genes.

Objective To explore the pattern of cervical nodal metastasis and the clinical significance of total thyroidectomy plus functional neck lymphadenectomy in papillary thyroid carcinoma patients. Methods Clinical and pathological data of 172 patients with papillary thyroid cancer who underwent total thyroidectomy plus functional neck lymph node dissection at Jinan Military General Hospital were retrospectively reviewed, including patient demographics, extent of surgery, parathyroid hormone level, recurrence, tumor pathology, such as tumor size, multifocality, capsular invasion, vascular invasion, extrathyroidal extension, and lymph node status. Results Of the 172 functional neck dissection patients (47 ambilateral), the incidence of lymphonodus metastasis in regions Ⅵ, Ⅳ and Ⅲ was 96. 3% ,78. 5%and 62.1% respectively. Rate of nodal metastasis was higher in patients with extracapsular invasion than in patients with no invasion ( P < 0. 05 ). Serum parathyroid hormone levels significantly decreased immediately postoperatively in total thyroidectomy plus functional neck dissection and remained low for several weeks thereafter ( P < 0. 01 ). The 5-, 10- and 15-year survival rate was ( 98. 83 ± 0. 82) %, (98. 23 ± 1.02 ) % and (96. 42 ± 1.43 )%, respectively. Conclusions Therapeutic neck lymph node dissection for papillary thyroid cancer is recommended for cervical nodal metastasis patients. Total thyroidectomy plus functional neck dissection is important in the treatment of papillary thyroid cancer.
