4.Biological effects of metal ions released from dental alloy
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2008;12(10):1998-2000
BACKGROUND: Metal ions released from the corrosion process of metal materials used in prosthodontics are directly related to the material biocompatibility, and decide the clinical application value and prospect in the clinical practice.OBJECTIVE: To review the metal ions released from the prosthodontic materials in the oral cavity and their biological effects.RETRIEVAL STRATEGY: Using the terms" biocompatibility, dental alloys", we retrieved PubMed data to identify studies published between January 1997 and October 2006 in the English language. A total of 67 manuscripts were researched. Inclusive criteria: mental materials used in prosthodontics. Exclusive criteria: reparative studies.LITERATURE EVALUATION: The included 67 manuscripts were all from PubMed database. After screening, 23 manuscripts were selected, among which, 20 were about original articles, and the maintaining 3 were review.DATA SYNTHESIS: At present, the research of the biological effects of metal ions released from prosthodontic materials focused on the following three areas:① The corrosion process of prosthodontic metal and the release of metal ions in the oral cavity: Two or even more kinds of metal restorations coexist in one man's oral cavity. Different metal components posed by the potential difference between the original battery will strengthen electrochemical corrosion role. This effect will accelerate the corrosion process and metal ion release, and may have a negative impact on the biocompatibility of prosthodontic materials, but the mechanism of this influence remains unclear. ②The local toxicity of the mental ions released from prosthodontic metal materials used commonly: These ions more or less have the risk of potential toxicity, but at the molecular biological level the mechanism of the adverse reaction in oral tissues acquires to be further explored. ③The hypersensitivity reaction induced by the metal ions released from prosthodontic metal materials: The ions could have an impact on the expression level of Th1 cytokines during the process of delayed-type hypersensitivity. The future research will focus on the mechanism and the establishment of immunohistochemical detection standards of biocompatibility of these prosthodontic metal materials.CONCLUSION: The metal ions released from prosthodontic materials used commonly have certain cytotoxicity, which can inhibit cell proliferation and cause mucosal diseases, oral contact gingivitis and delayed-type hypersensitivity, but at the molecular biological level the mechanism of these adverse reactions acquires to be further explored.
5.EGFR antibody radiosensitivity enhancement on CL187 cancer cells after continous low dose rate irradiation
Chinese Journal of Radiological Medicine and Protection 2009;29(2):157-160
Objective To investigate the radiosensitivity enhancement on CL187 cancer cell lines after continous low-dose-rate irradiation of 125I seeds blocked by EGFR antibody. Methods There were control group, the irradiation or plus EGFR antibody group, with 3 samples in each group.Clongenic assay was used to detect the survival of cells. The cell cycle distribution and apoptosis were analyzed by flow cytometry. Results The survival fraction of CL187 cells were lower after blocked by EGFR antibody at the same dose irradiation. The SER were 1.34,1.59 and 1.98 when the antibody concentration were 2,5 and 10 nmol/L,respectively.The irradiation plus antibody led to more apoptosis(39.86%±4.38%)of CL187 cells than the irradiation (21.57%±2.97%)plused antibody(12.49%±1.59%)worked alone.Comparison of the low dose rate irradiation related to G2/M cell cycle arrest(46.41%±4.48%),More G1 cell cycle arrest(84.51%±3.42%)walked together along with the EGFR antibody. Conclusions EGFR antibody could enhance the cell radiosensitivity after continuous low-dose-rate.irradiation.The cell cycle redistribution and apoptosis might be the main mechanism of the radiosensitivity enhancement.

Journal of Interventional Radiology 1994;0(03):-
The effect of traditional therapy is limited for liver cancer, gene therapy gets more and more recognition in recent years.Oncolysis virus is a kind of conditionally replicating virus, with special reproductivity in cancer cells, and then kills them.Gene agents are usually introduced into tumor tissue by intra-tumor and intra-arterial injection, and the technique of interventional therapy is able to satisfy the demand excellently. So,some breakthrough is expected in treating liver cancer by skillfully combining oncolysis virus and interventional technique

Objective To study a simple surgical method for continuous rapid tissue expansion and its clinical application. Methods The operation was accomplished in two-stage procedures. First, expanders were placed in the subcutaneous pocket through interlesional perpendicular short incisions. Continuous expansion by trace syringe pump began from the second day after expander placement. The speed of water injection was set according to patient's algesthesia reaction and vascularity of skin. The second operation was carried out at the third to fifth day after the expansion completed. Results The method was put into clinical practice in 22 cases (16 cases of scar, 2 cases of capillary angioma, and 4 cases of black nevus), and 35 expanders were placed. The speed of water injection was set in 0.2~0.8ml/hr/100ml.The mean time of water injection was 15.3 days. In the process of expansion, all cases were satisfactory except 1 case, in which the expander exposed in the incision. After the second operation, all flaps survived except one showing distal skin necrosis. The result was satisfactory after 3 months to 1 year follow-up. Conclusion The procedure consists of expander placement through interlesional perpendicular short incisions and continuous expansion in advance, which maximally shortens the time of expansion and hospitalization. This expansion method is a simple, safe, reliable, and ideal rapid tissue expansion technique.
