It has been demonstrated that surgery is currently still the most effective approach to completely cure gastric cancer. However, while only 30%-40% of gastric cancer can obtain curative outcome through pure surgery, most of patients with gastric cancer would died of recurrence or distant metastasis of the tumor. It appears to be more critical to search for other therapeutic strategies for gastric cancer other than surgery. Molecular targeting therapy has become the focus and hotspot of comprehensive treatment of gastric cancer.

BACKGROUND: We can investigate mechanism of endogenous neuroprotection in rat cerebral hypoxic tolerance trial. OBJECTIVE: To observe the characteristics of cerebral hypoxic tolerance in rat models with cerebral hypoxic preconditioning. DESIGN: Randomized controlled observation. SETTING: Department of Neurology, China-Japanese Friendship Hospital, Jilin University. MATERIALS: The experiment was performed in the Basic Animal Experimental Center, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Jilin University from April 2003 to April 2004. Inbred line healthy Wistar rats, of either sex, with the body mass of 200-300 g, were randomly assigned into normal control group (n=6), sham operation group (n=6), ischemic control group (n=20), hypoxic preconditioning (3 hours, 8% O2 and 92% N2) plus ischemic group (n=60) (according to different hypoxic phases, there were 5 time phases: 30 minutes, 1, 3, 5 and 6 hours with 12 rats in each time phase), hypoxic preconditioning group (n=18) [according to different hypoxic phases, there were 3 time phases: 1, 3 and 5 hours with 6 rats in each time phase, 3 rats received TTC staining and 3 rats received hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining]. METHODS: ①Hypoxic preconditioning: Firstly, natrica calx was put into closed glass container to absorb CO2 and O2, secondly, mixed gas of 8% O2 and 92% N2 was input, and then animals were put into the container, 3 rats each time. Temperature and humidity were kept steadily. ②Permanent ischemic middle cerebral artery rat models were established. ③The models were determined with a series in procedures: neurological score, infarcted volume evaluation, pathological sample preparation, immunohistochemical staining, imaging analysis and so on. ④The data were compared in groups with variance analysis.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Changes in cerebral infarcted volume, neurological score and pathological morphology in rats of experimental group and control group. RESULTS: Neurological score in the hypoxic preconditioning (8% O2, at hours 1, 3 and 5) plus ischemic group was lower than in the ischemic control group(P<0.01). Neurological score at minute 30 and hour 6 after hypoxia (8% O2) had insignificant difference in the ischemic control group. Mean cerebral infarcted volume ratio in the hypoxic preconditioning (8% O2, at hours 1, 3 and 5) plus ischemic group was lower than in the ischemic control group(P<0.01). Mean cerebral infarcted volume ratio after hypoxia (8% O2, at minute 30 and hour 6) had insignificant difference with ischemic control group (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Hypoxic preconditioning in rats can effectively release nerve injury induced by focal cerebral ischemia, suggesting that it has protective effect on brain. The procedure of establishing cerebral ischemic tolerance models with hypoxic preconditioning, which is simple and stable, with little injury on experimental animals, is a useful tool for studying cerebral ischemic tolerance.

Acta Anatomica Sinica 2002;0(05):-
Objective To observe the ultrastructure of pancreas in the bustard( Otis tarda limaells) . Methods Three bustard's pancreas were observed with electron microscope. Results The exocrine secretory units of bustard's pancreas contain a lobulated tubulo acinar gland in which the lobulation is not so distinct as that of the mammalian gland due to the lack of interlobular connective tissue septa. The space between lobular pancreas is lined directly with pancreatic cells as the duct.Single long spindle shaped connective tissue cell could only be seen among three lobules and its cytoplasm becomes slender and stretches into the space between lobules as a distinct intermediate dense line. The exocrine secretory cells can be divided into two kinds of dark and light. In the light cell, particularly in swelled up rER with very little density are filled the greater part of the cytoplasm and made the cell appearance much lighter than other cells.\;The endocrine cells are divided into two types that are dispersed in pancreatic singly and clustered into pancreatic islets. The dispersed endocrine cells contain a lot of moderate dark electron dense granules in their process near basement membrane. There are two types of islets——A islet and B islet in the bustard pancreas.A islets comprise only one cell type with moderate electron density that contains dark endocrine granules.B islet contains two cell types:B and D cell.B cells are the most numerous cells with a long ovoid nucleus and contains two or three types of granules in the cytoplasm.D cells are relatively rare and can be seen in the periphery nearby basement membrane.Cells keep close to each other and desmosomes can be seen within the islet. The endocrine cells closely contact exocrine cells without basement membrane in the periphery partly.Conclusion\ These are some structural characteristics that adapt to fly and that are different from other animal in bustard's pancreas.

Objective To approach the neurobiochemical mechanism of chronic central pain (CCP) after spinal cord injury (SCI). Methods 28 SD rats were divided into four groups, the normal group (group A), the pseudosurgery group (group B), and groups with CCP (group C) and without CCP (group D) after L1 spinal cord section injured with WADE method. T13 and L2 segments of rats' spinal cord were took and concentration changes of substance P (SP) in the spinal dorsal horn between two sections were examined by immunofluorescence histochemistry staining combined with confocal laser scanning microscope. Results Concentration of SP in the group D was decreased significantly compared with groups C,A and B (P<0.05-0.01), that of the group C was less than that of group A and B (P<0.05). Conclusion The rat model established by WADE method is proper to study CCP after SCI. SP in dorsal horn of spinal cord may inhibit the CCP after SCI in some degrees.

Cancer Research on Prevention and Treatment 2021;48(5):541-546
Although immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have great breakthrough in cancer treatment in recent years, most patients have not benefited from it on account of immune microenvironment. Studies have shown that tryptophan metabolism is not only involved in the formation of tumor immunosuppressive microenvironment but also plays an important role in the therapeutic application of ICIs. At present, inhibiting the kynurenine pathway of tryptophan metabolism is now in various stages of clinical trials, while the other two metabolic pathways, 5-HT and the indole pathway, also have aroused wide concern. This article reviews the latest developments in this field.

Objective:To assess the predictive values of bioelectrical impedance analysis(BIA)-measured body fat indices to abnormal lipid profiles, and to preliminary propose optimal cut-off values of body fat in children and adolescents. Methods:Children and adolescents, aged 6-16 years, were selected from 30 schools (8 primary schools, 21 middle schools and one 12-year education school) in Dongcheng, Tongzhou, Fangshan and Miyun districts of Beijing by adopting a stratified cluster sampling method from November 2017 to January 2018.Questionnaire survey, body mass index(BMI), body fat mass index (FMI), fat mass percentage (FMP) and four lipid profiles were conducted. Results:A total of 14 309 participants, aged (11.0±3.3) years, were enrolled in the analysis, with 49.9% boys.In boys and girls, the percentile values ( P60- P95) fitted by FMI and FMP with K-median-coefficient of variation(LMS) method were taken as the cutting points, and P75 values were selected as the cut-off points of excessive body fat for their better sensitivity, specificity, predictive value and area under curve (AUC) for identification of abnormal lipid profiles.Boys with FMI above P75 accounted for 28% of the total population, and controlling boys with FMI below P75 could prevent dyslipidemia of 8%-57%.FMI in girl population occupied about 26% of the above, and controlling FMI in girl population below this cut-off point may prevent dyslipidemia from 8%-42%.FMP observed similar results to FMI.Assessed by FMI or FMP with P75 cut-off values, adiposity performed better than BMI for recognizing abnormal lipid profiles in boys (AUC: 52.4%-69.6% vs.50.2%-67.1%, P<0.05) rather than in girls ( P>0.05). In addition, when FMI or FMP beyond P90, the specificity of each abnormal lipid profiles was around 90%. Conclusions:The recommend cut-off points for body fat may be to assess children′s adiposity, and can be applied in preventive activities.
