Objective To evaluate the effect of uterine-reserved in the pelvio floor reconstruction, and select the best surgery for patients. Methods Through the observation and follow-up for 14 cases of uterine-reserved (experimental group) and 17 cases of uterine-removed (control group), to compare the information during the surgery, postoperative recovery, and quality of life of the two groups. Results The operation time, blood loss, postoperative discharge time, antibiotics application time and hospitalization time in experimental group were significantly lower than those in control group(P < 0.05). The paruria, abdominal distention in experimental group [14%(2/14), 14%(2/14)] were significantly lower than those in control group [53% (9/17), 24% (4/17)] (P < 0.05), and sexual satisfaction was significantly higher in experimental group than that in control group [71% (10/14) vs. 47% (8/17)] (P < 0.05). There were no significant difference in pelvic pain, constipation of the two groups (P> 0.05). The POP-Q scores were normal after the operation both the two groups, each group beforeand after surgery compared the POP-Q score, were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusions Uterine-r eserved in the pelvic floor reconstruction can maintain the structural stability of the pelvic floor, and has the advantage of shorter operation time, less bleeding, more rapid recovery. Recent results are similar with hysterectomy, can reduce the risk of perioperative period to the elderly women.

Journal of China Medical University 2001;30(2):114-116
Objective: Our purpose was to study the expression of protein of nm23 gene in patients with epithelial ovarian carcinoma. Methods:Protein of nm23 gene was detected by immunohistochemical technique in 45 patients with epithelial ovarian cancer, 12 with borderline, and 10 with benign ovarian tumor. Results:The positive expression rate in ovarian cancer (73.3%) was significantly higher than that of the benign and borderline tumors. There was no significant correlation between the expression of nm23 gene and the histological type, grade, the existence of ascites or the size of residul after operation. However, the expression of nm23 gene protein was negatively related with the FIGO stage. The overall survival rate of the patients with positive expression of nm23 gene was much higher than that of the patients with negative expression. Conclusion:The findings suggest that nm23 gene protein might serve as a valuable and independent marker for the prognosis of ovarian cancer.

AIM: To investigate that nicotine inhibits HMGB1 expression and release in RAW264.7 cells.METHODS: (1) RAW264.7 cells were cultured in 6 wells plate, treated with 250 μg/L LPS and 1 μmol/L or 10 μmol/L nicotine, in which the cells treated with or without 250 μg/L LPS were regarded as nicotine 1 group (N1), nicotine 2 group (N2), LPS group (LPS) and control group (C), respectively. HMGB1 protein in the cell culture media and in cell nuclear was examined by Western blotting and the cellular HMGB1 mRNA level was detected by RT-PCR. (2) Transfected with antisense RNA or sense RNA of α~7 subunit-containing nicotinic receptor (α~7nAChR), RAW264.7 cells were treated with 250 μg/L LPS and 10 μmol/L nicotine, HMGB1 protein in the culture media was also tested by Western blotting.RESULTS: (1) HMGB1 mRNA level in C group was low (1 659.20±121.05) and no significant statistical difference among groups of N1, N2 and LPS was observed (P>0.05). (2) Higher HMGB1 accumulation in the cell culture media was detected in LPS group (445.34±28.52) than that in C group. Compared to LPS group, both N1 and N2 groups distinctly attenuated HMGB1 accumulation in culture media (P<0.05). (3) Nuclear HMGB1 accumulation was lower in LPS group than that in C group, and two different nicotine concentrations markedly increased the nuclear HMGB1 accumulation compared to LPS group (P<0.05). (4) No significant difference of HMGB1 levels in culture media between antisense RNA group and LPS group was observed (P>0.05). In sense RNA group, however, HMGB1 level was observably reduced compared to antisense group (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The present results suggest that nicotine dramatically inhibits RAW264.7 cell nuclear HMGB1 translocation and extracellular release, and this effect relies on α~7nAch receptor expression.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the tube voltage and radiation dose as well as image quality in adult upper airway digital radiography (DR).Methods We used CDRAD2.0 contrast details phantom and PMMA to simulate adult upper airway. With different tube voltages, the phantom was exposed using automatic exposure control system (AEC).The entrance surface dose( ESD),dose area product(DAP) and mAs in every exposures were recorded. The image quality factors(IQF) of all images were calculated. Results With tube voltage increasing,ESD,DAP,mAs decreased and IQF value enhanced. There were statistically significance ( F =45.15,26.41,29.26,56.53,P < 0.05 ).ESD,DAP,mAs significantly increased with tube voltage less than 75 kV,began to decrease when tube voltage more than 75 kV,tended to be on the balance in 75 -80 kV.At the same time, the fluctuation of IQF value was no statistical difference in 50 - 75 kV of tube voltage, but was statistical significance in 75 -90 kV( F =11.35,P <0.05 ).So,the image quality of adult upper airway with different tube voltage had no significant difference. Conclusions The appropriate tube voltage was 75 kV to 80 kV in the upper airway DR.The IQF value can be provided as the clinical evaluation index of image quality.

Objective To observe the effect of automobile exhaust pollutants in air of underground parking area on immune system of mice. Methods Thirty female Kunming mice were divided into a control(relatively clean) group and a polluted group(each n=15)by a random number table method. The control group was housed on the roof of a mechanical building located at the south campus of Sun Yat-sen University, while the polluted group was housed in the minus second layer of underground parking lot at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. The data of atmospheric pollutants were recorded at both feeding sites. The mice's food-intake and body weight were also observed. After 3 months of observation, the mice were sacrificed and peripheral serum was harvested. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)was performed to detect the level of tumor necrotic factor-α(TNF-α),transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1)and interleukin-4(IL-4). Results The levels of air pollutants in pollution group were higher than those in control group〔carbonmonoxide(CO,mg/m3:16.784±3.093 vs. 2.249±0.112),nitrogen oxides(NOx, mg/m3:0.318±0.041 vs. 0.065±0.030)and particulate matter(PM2.5,mg/m3:0.309±0.051 vs. 0.055±0.013),all P<0.001〕. The amount of food intake and body weight of the polluted group were obviously lower than those of the control group〔food-intake:670 g vs. 960 g,body weight:(37.13±1.11)g vs.(41.23±1.34)g, both P<0.001〕. There was no abnormal death in both groups. The serum levels of TNF-α(ng/L:247.93±22.25 vs. 143.33±39.01), TFG-β1(ng/L:395.77±41.29 vs. 319.15±20.72) and IL-4(ng/L:231.89±20.04 vs. 194.09±3.57)were significantly higher in the mice of polluted group than those in the control group(all P<0.001). Conclusions The automobile exhaust pollutants in the air of underground parking lot have obvious effects on the levels of serum inflammatory cytokines of mice. It is suggested that the presence of pollutants activate the body's inflammatory process and lead to disturbance of immune system of female Kunming mice.
