Objective To probe into roles of hCKLF-1 in the development of systemic lupus erythematosus in BXSB mice in vivo. Methods The recombinant eukaryotic expression plasmid for hCKLF-1 (pCDI-hCKLF-1) was transferred and expressed in lupus-prone BXSB mice with the technique of muscle-mediated transgene by electric pulse;the levels of serum IgM and IgG anti-DNA antibodies as well as serum BUN and urine protein were detected. Results hCKLF-1 expression in vivo did not make any effects on the levels of IgM and IgG anti-DNA antibodies in female and male BXSB mice, but markedly enabled abnormal elevation of urine protein in male BXSB mice in short time, suggesting its ability for accelerating glomerulonephritis. Conclusion hCKLF-1 may be one of inflammation mediators, playing an important role in the lupus glomerulonephritis of male BXSB mice, and its target cells may be monocyte and macrophage.

Objective:To explore the necessity of transitional ICU care for patients with liver cancer after major hepatectomy. Methods:The clinical data of 548 liver cancer patients with major hepatectomy were retrospectively analyzed. According to whether by way of transitional ICU care was used or not, patients were divided into ICU group(92 cases) and none-ICU group(456 cases). The clinical data, postoperative complications and mortality were compared. Results:There were no difference in the incidence of major complications(ascites, liver failure, bile leakage, infection and bleeding), mortality and length of hospital stay between the two groups( P>0.05). But the total hospitalization costs of patients in the ICU group were significantly higher than those in the non-ICU group [(72 019±24 516) yuan vs. (67 002±21 374) yuan, t=2.004, P=0.046]. Multivariate analysis showed that intraoperative blood loss and transfusion were independent risk factors for patients undergoing transitional ICU care. Conclusion:Transitional ICU care does not reduce the incidence of postoperative complications and mortality for major hepatectomy patients, only increase the hospitalization costs.

Objective Liver function in perioperative periods, postoperative complications, and pathological changes in the liver were studied and compared between patients undergoing emergent and elective surgical intervention (extensive esophagogastric devascularization, EED) for portal hypertension (PTH), with the purpose to elucidate the pathogenesis of PTH. Methods The clinical data and liver biopsies from 150 cases of inpatients with hepatis cirrhosis and PTH who underwent either emergent (28 cases) or elective (100 cases) surgical intervention including extensive esophagogastric devascularization (EED) in 302 th Hospital of PLA were analysed. Liver biopsy was done in 128 patients, and the expression of ?-smooth muscle actin (?-SMA), tubulin?and ?in hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), and endothelin-1 (ET-1) was histochemically studied in the liver tissue. Results It was found that the mean internal diameter of portal veins before surgery was larger and the incidence of pre-operative acute variceal haemorrhage was significantly higher in the emergent EED group than those in the elective EED group (P

Objective To estimate the significance of E-selectin and P-selectin in nodular vasculitis. Methods The EnVision two-step method was used to measure the expression of E-selectin and P-selectin in skin samples from the lesions of 70 patients with nodular vasculitis and normal skin of 24 human controls. The differences between the patients and controls in the expression of E-selectin and P-selectin and relationship between their expression levels in nodular vasculitis lesions were assessed. Results The expression of E-selectin was detected in all the specimens of nodular vasculitis, and most of the expression level was moderately intensive (++); while E-selectin was absent in all of the control specimens. All the specimens of nodular vasculitis stained postivive for P-selectin, which was strongly (+++) expressed in most of the specimens; while only 2 control specimens stained weakly positive for P-selectin. A significant difference was observed in the expression of E-selectin and P-selectin between the specimens from the patients and controls (both P< 0.01), but not among specimens from patients at different ages and between specimens from female and male patients (all P > 0.05). In addition, the expression of E-selectin and P-selectin was well correlated with each other in lesions of nodular vasculitis (P < 0.01). Conclusions The expression of E-selectin and P-selectin is correlated with each other in lesions of acute nodular vasculitis, and is associated with the development of nodular vasculitis.
