Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2004;24(3):303-4
In order to study the association between lower urinary tract infection and cystitis glandularis (CG), 120 cases of CG were diagnosed by cystoscopic biopsy in the suspicious foci of the bladder. Among them, 72 cases were subjected to bacterial counting culture of urine and microscopic examination of urinary sediment, and 60 cases to fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (FQ-PCR) assay to detect HPV, CMV and HSV DNA in urine samples. In the 72 cases of CG, the positive rate of bacterial counting culture of urine was 15.3% (11/72), and gray zone rate was 18.1% (13/72). 31.9% (23/72) patients were positive in bacterioscopy of urinary sediment. There was statistically significant difference as compared with the control group (P<0.01). Only 4 of 60 urine samples were positive by FQ-PCR in detection of the three viruses mentioned above with the positive rate being 6.67%. Compared with the control group, there was no significant difference (P>0.05). It was concluded that the genesis of CG was closely correlated with the chronic lower urinary tract infection, especially caused by Esch coli.

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedics 2009;29(8):765-770
Objective To investigate the ability of auto-dermis grafts in the prevention of epidural fibrosis and adhesions, and provide reference for clinical application. Methods Five Tibet mini-pigs were used and laminectomy was performed in lumbar 2 and 4 segment. Dura was exposed and covered with auto-genous dermis grafts in lumbar 2 (the experimental group), without grafts in lumbar 4 (the autogeoous blank group). The specimens were observed grossly and histologically at 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 weeks postoperatively. Epidural scar amount and adhere range was evaluated by modified Robertson scoring method and analyzed by SPSS 13.0. No sear and adhesion, 0 point; small amount scar and light-range adhesion, 1 point; medium sear and midrange adhesion, 2 pionts; bulk scar ang high-range adhesion, 3 pionts. Results All grafted dermis survived and thicken obviously than dermis in body surface (P< 0.05). Hair growth, sebaceous gland cyst and sweat cystogenesis were not observed. A larvaceous dissection abruption plane, little cicatricial tis-sue and adhesions rarefaction between dermis and dura were observed in the experimental group. Massive ei-catricial tissue from erector spinae filled in cavitas epiduralis was observed and dura was separated difficult-ly from cicatricial tissue in the autogeous blank group. Epidural scar amount and adhesion range in the ex-perimental group was significantly lower than the blank group (P< 0.05). Conclusion Dermis is a kind of favourable biomaterial with restraining cicatrisation and isolation barrier. Autogenous dermis grafts has the best effect on preventing peridural cicatrisation and adhesion after laminectomy.

Objective To determine the significance and expression of S100A9 and NMP238 in cervical carcinoma with different concurrent chemoradiotherapy sensitivities. Methods Fresh carcinoma tissues were collected from untreated cervical carcinoma patients and preserved at -80 ℃. The tissues were classified into 2 groups:a high sensitivity group (HS) and a low sensitivity group(LS) according to their response to concurrent chemoradiotherapy. Protein was separated by 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE). Peptide mass fingerprintings (PMF) were acquired by matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) and the proteins were identified by data searching in the Mascot-database. Differential expressed proteins were assayed by Western blot and immunohistochemistry. Results Most of the gels were clear and were successfully and reproductively analyzed. Intensity and rate of S100A9 expression were higher in the HS group than in the LS group, and those of NMP238 expression were higher in the LS group than in the HS group. Conclusion S100A9 and NMP238 expression is associated with concurrent chemoradiotherapy sensitivity in cervical carcinoma.

OBJECTIVE: To explore whether pre-administration of Ganoderma lucidum spore (GASP) can reduce incidence of neural tube defects (NTDs) induced by all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) in pregnant mice. METHODS: Twenty pregnant mice were randomly divided into four groups: normal control group, solvent-treated group, ATRA-induced group, and GASP-treated plus ATRA-induced group. GASP solution, which was prepared with solvent (sodium carboxymethyl cellulose), was fed to the pregnant mice in the GASP-treated plus ATRA-induced group twice a day from embryo (E) 0 d to E10.5 d. The same dose of solvent was given to the pregnant mice in the solvent-treated group. At E7.75 d, ATRA (50 mg/kg) was given to the pregnant mice in both ATRA-induced group and GASP-treated plus ATRA-induced group for single time. Embryos were sampled from pregnant mice at E10.5 d. Then the incidence rate of NTDs in mouse embryo was calculated and the crown-rump length of mouse embryo was measured. The positive rate of nestin expression and the distribution of cell cycle of embryonic neural tube neuroepithelial cells were detected by histochemical staining technique and flow cytometry respectively. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction method was used to detect the gene expressions of cyclin-dependent protein kinase 2 (Cdk2) and Cdk4 mRNAs. RESULTS: The incidence rates of NTDs in mouse embryos in the ATRA-induced group and the GASP-treated plus ATRA-induced group were 79.41% and 21.67% respectively, while the crown-rump length of mouse embryos in these two groups were (3.62+/-1.27) mm and (5.84+/-0.92) mm respectively. The positive rate of nestin expression in embryonic neural tube neuroepithelial cells of mouse embryo at E10.5 d in the ATRA-induced group was 32.44%, while that in the GASP-treated plus ATRA-induced group was 77.65%. The cell cycle of embryonic neural tube neuroepithelial cells was obviously arrested at G(0)/G(1) phase in the ATRA-induced group as compared with that in the GASP-treated plus ATRA-induced group. The Cdk4 mRNA was transcripted at a high level in embryonic neural tube in the GASP-treated plus ATRA-induced group, but the Cdk2 mRNA was not detected in this group. CONCLUSION: Pre-administration of GASP can reduce the incidence of NTDs induced by ATRA in pregnant mice.
