This paper describes virtual instrumentation and its most representative developing environment-LabVIEW. The use of LabVIEW to program custom functions ,such as signal acquisition ,processing ,system control ,in biomedical research ,is also introduced.

Objective To explore the safety and effectiveness of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) after laparoscopic radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer.Methods From January 2014 to December 2015,167 gastric cancer patients undergoing laparoscopic radical gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy were divided into the enhanced recovery after surgery group (ERASG,67 cases) and 102 cases the conventional surgery group (CSG,102 cases).The general status,tumor stage,postoperative recovery,complications,hospitalization time and 30 day readmission were compared between ERASG and CSG.Results The first exhaust time in ERASG and CSG were (2.6 ± 1.1) days and (3.8 ± 1.3) days (t =-6.494,P ＜ 0.01).Statistical analysis showed that there was no significant difference in the postoperative hospitalization time,30 day readmission rate,complications,anastomotic leakage,wound infection,pneumonia,gastric retention and intestinal obstruction between of ERASG and CSG (all P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions Patients in ERASG have quicker postoperative recovery than those in CSG,with similar postoperative complications.

Objective To discuss the clinical effect of titanium elastic intrameduUary nail (TEIN)in treatment of pediatric radial neck fractures. Methods A total of 16 children with radial neck fractures were treated TEIN from February 2008 to February 2010.Long arm cast immobilization was used one week postoperatively and functional exercise was done after removal of the external fixation.Results All the patients were followed up for average 5.3 months (3.5-14.0 months),which showed the average period of bony union for 5.8 weeks(4-7 weeks).Except for one patient who aroused skin soft-tissue irritation symptoms at the nail end,no other complication was found.The range of motion of the elbow and forearm in injury side of all patients Was the same as the normal side. Conclusions The application of TEIN has advantages of minimal invasive lesion,nil effect on pheseal plate,good fracture union,rapid functional rehabilitation and little compliations and hence is one of ideal choices in treatment of pediatric radial neck fracture.

Objective To investigate the correlation of clinical stage and treatment plan with prognosis in incidental prostatic carcinoma.Methods From 2004 to 2010,a total of 1076 patients diagnosed as BPH underwent transurethral plasma kinetic enucleation of prostate (TUPKEP) in our hospital,and their clinical data were respectively analyzed.Among them,42 cases were found to have incidental prostatic carcinoma.The correlation of clinical stage and treatment plan with prognosis in incidental prostatic carcinoma were observed.Results Among 1076 BPH patients undergoing TUPKEP operation,42 cases (3.9％) aged 56-88 years were found to have incidental prostatic carcinoma,which all displayed as prostatic adenocarcinoma including 18 cases at T1 a stage and 24 cases at T1b stage.10 cases received endocrinal therapy,14 cases received bilateral orchiectomy,14 cases underwent radical prostectomy and 4 cases were treated with watchful waiting.Patients were followed up for 24 to 96 months.The survival rates were 100.0％ and the rates of progression were 0.0％,20.0％,0.0％ in T1 a patients received watchful waiting,androgen-deprivation therapy and radical prostectomy,respectively.Total survival rate was 100.0％ and total rate of progression was 11.1％ in T1a patients.The survival rates were 71.4％,100.0％ and the rates of progression were 42.9％,0.0％ in T1 b patients received androgen-deprivation therapy and radical prostectomy,respectively.Total survival rate was 83.3 ％ and total rate of progression was 25.0 ％ in T1 b patients.Compared with T1 b patients,the total survival rate was higher (x2=18.19,P＜0.01) and the rate of progression was lower in T1 a patients (x2 =6.52,P＜0.05).Conclusions The survival rate in T1 a patients accepted androgen-deprivation therapy is similar to that in T1 a patients with watchful waiting.Compared with T1a patients,the survival rate is lower but the rate of progression is higher in T1 b patients received active androgen-deprivation therapy.The survival rate is higher in T1 b patients treated with radical prostectomy than in those received other treatments.Watchful waiting is acceptable for T1 a patients.T1 b patients should be treated with radical prostectomy for a better effect.

Objective To study the clinical feasibility of micrometer method and thin carbon paper method in the marginal fitness of crown.Methods 10 ex vivo teeth were selected to be restored by Nickel-Chromium alloy PFM crown.Selected 6 measurement sites on shoulder in each ex vivo teeth.Micrometer method,thin carben paper method and SEM method were used to measure.and the data were analyzed by SPSS 13.0.Results 5 data in micrometer method and 6 data in thin carbon paper method were different to SEM method.The disparity was not statistically significant(t=0.392 and t=0.543).Conclusion Micrometer method and thin carbon paper method were two facility quantization measurements to the marginal fitness of crown.They had satisfied to effect in clinic.

ObjectiveTo explore the clinical value of 256-slice CT and coronary angiography in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease.Methods46 patients with coronary heart disease,who underwent coronary angiography and 256-slice spiral CT were selected.Compare two methods for the detection of coronary artery disease.Results( 1 ) All 256-slice CT and coronary angiography achieved a satisfactory image,in the diagnosis of coronary artery stenosis and occlusion,the two methods had no statistically significant difference ( P ＞ 0.05 ).(2) according to standard coronary angiography,256-slice spiral CT for the diagnosis of coronary artery stenosis sensitivity was 93.0％ (132/142),specificity was 91.6％ (142/155),positive predictive rate was 91.0％ (132/145),negative predictive rate was 93.4％ (142/152).Conclusion256-slice spiral CT has a high time resolution,spatial resolution,the display of the coronary artery disease has high sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value and negative predictive value.

Objective To observe the neuroprotective effect of celecoxib against degeneration of dopaminergic neurons caused by lipopolysaccharide in vivo.Methods The rat model of Parkinson disease(PD)was established by intranigral injection of lipopolysaccharide.Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group,PD group,and celecoxib group.Behavioural changes were recorded,and the expressions of tyrosine hydroxylase(TH)and cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2)were determined by immunohistochmistry and Western blot.Results No behavioral change was found in control group.There was significant difference in the number of circling behavior between PD and celecoxib groups(196.90±9.52 vs 109.30±9.38,P＜0.01).The number of TH-positive cells and the expression of TH protein in rat substantia nigra were significantly higher in celecoxib group than in PD group(P＜0.01).Compared with PD group,the number of COX-2positive cells and the expression of COX-2 protein were significant lower in celecoxib group(P＜0.01).Conclusion Celecoxib has neuroprotective effect on the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons caused by lipopolysaccharide in vivo.

BACKGROUND: The existing electrocardiogram(ECG)measurement strongly depends on medical professionals and inefficient high-intensity,or relies on automatic identification method which is not accurately enough.Thus,this is difficult to meet high-speed testing,accurate results and ease application for common people.OBJECTIVE: To develop a new method that was simple and efficient to apply and very easy to learn.METHODS: Algorithms were programmed and test software was developed by delphi7.0.ECG was drawn on screen.The apex,the starting point and the ending point as well as the J-point of each ECG wave were clicked by mouse or stylus.Then the wave parameters and an initial diagnosis could be quickly obtained by test software.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The parameters of ECG waveform such as wave height,wave time,PR interval,ST segment,QT segment,PP/RR time,cardiac electrical axis and so on could be accurately measured,and heart rate,heart rhythm and the deflection of cardiac electrical axis could be diagnosed correctly.The method was simple to learn and easy to imply,and it was also efficient,quick and accurate.Thus,it could greatly improve the efficiency of measurement and analysis for specialists,and could meet application requirements of general medicals and ordinary people.

Objective We investigated female patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (ⅡM),including polymyositis (PM) and dermatomyositis (DM) to understand if the activity and treatment of ⅡM affected the fetus outcomes as well as the correlation between pregnancy and the pathogenesis of ⅡM.Methods Questionnaires were designed,including patients' fertility,the activity and treatment of ⅡM during pregnancy and after childbirth,and the fetal outcomes.The questionnaires were conducted on 75 female patients (22-53 years old),who once hospitalized at Peking Union Medical College Hospital from 2007 to 2013.The mutual effect between the ⅡM disease activity,pregnancy and the fetus were compared by Chi square.Results Seventy-five patients (19 PM,56 DM) had 144 pregnancies,but only 18 of them became pregnant after the onset of the disease.There were two patients had onset of DM during pregnancy,and two patients suffered from DM after delivery or abortion within one month.The rates of abnormal pregnancy in patients with pregnancy before the onset of ⅡM was significantly lower than those with pregnancy after the onset of ⅡM (x2=10.21,P=0.001).Of the 18 pregnancies after the onset of ⅡM,7 had active ⅡM during pregnancy,3 of them flareddue to pregnancy.The 5 abnormal pregnancies (5/7) were seen in seven pregnancies totally,including two spontaneous abortion,one embryo diapause and two premature births.While of the other 11 pregnanciesin stable condition had only 2 abnormal pregnancies (2/11),including one fetus ended prematurely and one embryo diapause.The fetal outcomes were significantly related to the status of illness (x2=5.103,P=0.024).Two patients became pregant after the onset of the disease,both of them had stable disease before pregnancy.However,the disease became active during the pregnancies.One of them flared with rash during two pregnancies.The fetal end in embryo diapause and premature birth (33+4 weeks),respectively.Another flared with muscle weakness at five months of gestation.The fetal ended in premature birth (36+3 weeks).Two patients had onset of DM within one month following the delivery and voluntary abortion.Patients with active disease had taken medium to large doses of prednisone (30-60 mg) orally,in combination with hydroxychloroquine (0.2 bid) or without.In addition,two patients administrated with intravenous gamma globulin (IVIG) at low dose,whose illness condition had been well controlled.Conclusion Pregnancies after the onset of ⅡM tend to end with spontaneous abortion,embryo diapause,premature birth.The fetal outcomes are significantly related to disease activity.When ⅡM flared during pregnancy,IVIG might be the most effective and safe treatment,combined with corticosteroids.

Objective To investigate the multidisciplinary modality for obesity treatment and evaluate the safety and long-term efficacy of laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding(LAGB) on weight loss and obesity related metabolic diseases in obesity patients.Methods The clinical and follow-up data of 28 consecutive morbid obesity patients receiving LAGB in Dept.General Surgery of PUMC hospital in a multidisciplinary modality from Oct 2009 to May 2012 were retrospectively analyzed.The strategy of perioperative and follow-up management was summarized and the safety and long-term efficacy of LAGB on weight loss and comorbidity were evaluated.Results Mean body weight of the subjects was 129.1kg and mean body mass index(BMI)44.9 kg/m2.All patients underwent LAGB successfully without perioperative mortality.Early postoperative complications included 1 case (3.6％) of pulmonary infection and long-term complications included 2 cases (7.1％)of port infection.Mean body weight and BMI decreased gradually after LAGB.The mean percentage of excess weight loss(％ EWL)at postoperative 24 months was 41.3％.％ EWL of the group with regular follow-up and good compliance was significantly better than the other group.Complete or partial remission was observed in obesity related metabolic diseases at the last follow-up.Conclusions LAGB is safe and has good long-term efficacy on weight loss and comorbidity improvement of obesity patients.Better services can be provided for obesity patients in a multidisciplinary modality,It is important for the patients to follow up regularly after surgery in order to maintain long-term weight loss.
