Objective To investigate the effect of angiotensin Ⅱ-1 receptor antagonist losartan on expression of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-?) in the ventricular myocardium in the renovascular hypertension rats. Methods Renovascular hypertension model was obtained by clip left renal artery in Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats. After operation the rats were divided into 3 groups: sham group, two-kidney one clip (2K1C) group, and losartan treatment group(2K1C and losartan 20 mg/kg?d by drinking). Tail blood pressure was determined every week. Animals were euthanized after treatment with losartan for four weeks. Cardiac index(CI)was calculated by HW/BW, and TNF-? protein of ventricle myocardium was determined by ELISA and immunohistochemistry. Results Losartan significantly decreased blood pressure(P

Objective To investigate the imaging and pathological features of atypical teratoid/rhab doid tumor (AT/RT)occur-ring in the central nervous system (CNS).Methods The CT and MRI findings of 1 6 patients with CNS AT/RT were retrospectively analyzed, and their pathological and immunohistochemical results were studied. Results There were 12 males and 4 females. Tumors located is at supratentorial in 10 and infratentorial in 6.Cystic changes in tumors were noted in 12 cases. The solid portion of tumors was isointense on T2-weighted images relative to normal brain grey matter in 9 patients.Extensive peritumoral edema was observed in 1 1 lesions. The tumors showed bandlike rim of significant enhancement in 10 cases. The incidence of hemorrhage and calcification in tumors were 43.8% and 41.7% respectively.Histopathologically,AT/RT was characterized by the presence of rhab-doid cells associated with variable components of epithelial, primitive neuroectodermal and mesenchymal differentiation. Conclusion Atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor is several imaging findings which are relatively specific on CT and MR images.CT and MRI may provide valuable information for pre-operation diagnosis and prognostic evaluation in patients with CNS AT/RT.

Objective To investigate the clinical effectiveness of oral ganciclovir on prevention and treatment of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections after liver transplantation.Method We tested archival peripheral blood of 69 kidney recipients for CYP3A5 genotyping by polymerase chain reaction sequence-specific primer. The dose, blood concentrations and dose-normalized blood concentrations of tacrolimus were measured at 1 st and 2nd month after the renal transplantation.Result pp65 antigen of CMV was negative in all the patients before liver transplantation. In 72 patients subject to acyclovir,9 cases (12.5%) were infected by CMV.By using oral ganciclovir to prevent CMV infection after 1iver transplantation in 376 patients,pp65 antigen of CMV was detected in 17 patients (4.5%).Fifteen patients received intravenous ganciclovir for treatment of CMV infection or CMV pneumonia, and 6 patients (40%) suffered from granulocytopenia because of the use of intravenous ganciclovir.Forty-six patients (12.2%) suffered from granulocytopenia because of the use of oral ganciclovir. Conclusion Oral ganciclovir is a safe and effective drug for prevention and treatment of CMV infection.

Aim To investigate the effect of astragalus injection on the expression of JNK3(c-jun N terminal kinase)protein and JNK3 mRNA interrelated by apoptosis after hypoxia/hypoglycemia and reoxygenation in hippocampal neurons of rats. Methods The hippocampal neurons cultured for eight days were divided into four groups:normal control group,hypoxia/hypoglycemia and reoxygenation group, astragalus injection group and astragalus solution group.Hypoxia/hypoglycemia and reoxygenation group, astragalus injection group and astragalus solution group were treated with hypoglycemia and reoxygenation after being deprived of oxygen and glucose for 30 minutes. Methods of Western blot,ELISA and RT-PCR were used respectively to measure the expression of JNK3 mRNA after hypoxia/hypoglycemia and reoxygenation 0,0.5,2,6,24,72,120 h.Results Compared with normal control group, the mean optic density(MOD)of expression of JNK3 protein and activation of JNK3 protein in hippocampal neurons of rats every time points increased obviously in hypoxia/hypoglycemia and reoxygenation group except 120 h(P<0.05);compared with hypoxia/ hypoglycemia and reoxygenation group,MOD of expression of JNK3 mRNA and activation of JNK3 protein in hippocampal neurons of rats every time points decreased obviously except 120 h in astragalus injection group (P<0.05);compared with hypoxia/hypoglycemia and reoxygenation group, there was no difference in astragalus solution group.Compared with normal control group,MOD of expression of JNK3 mRNA in hippocampal neurons of rats every time points increased obviously in hypoxia/hypoglycemia and reoxygenation group(P<0.05);compared with hypoxia/ hypoglycemia and reoxygenation group,MOD of expression of JNK3 mRNA in hippocampal neurons of rats every time points decreased obviously in astragalus injection group except 120 h(P<0.05);compared with hypoxia/hypoglycemia and reoxygenation group, there was no difference in astragalus solution group. Conclusion Astragalus injection can inhibit the expression of JNK3 mRNA after hypoxia/hypoglycemia and reoxygenation, moreover,it can inhibit the expression of JNK3 protein and decrease the activation of JNK3 protein, accordingly it inhibits hippocampal neuronal apoptosis.

The experiment aimed to study the toxic effect of oral ricin on gastrointestinal tract and immune organs of mice with the dose of 1/5 LD50.In early days of intoxication, there was an obviously decrease in daffy weight and relative weight of thymus and spleen, fllowing the excretion of toxin, they had a trend of recovering to the normal state. Also, results of pathological section, scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope showed that ricin would induce a series of pathological reaction in intestines, meanwhile, the splenocytes displayed significant symptom of apoptosis and necrosis.

Objective To explore the application of submental ultrasonongraphy (SUS) in the assessment of oropharyngeal swallowing disorders in children with cerebral palsy. Methods Seventeen children with cerebral palsy and oropharyngeal swallowing difficulties (7 on nasal feeding,10 on oral feeding) constituted the treatment group while 20 normal counterparts formed the control group.SUS was applied to measure any changes in the thickness of the tongue muscle and the range of hyoid bone displacement when they swallowed 5 ml of water. The results were compared with those assessed using the functional oral intake scale to decide the best cut-off point for detecting tube-feeding-dependent dysphagia. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of the 20 children in the control group was calculated to evaluate the intra-rater and inter-rater reliability of SUS.Results The average tongue muscle thickness change and hyoid bone displacement amplitude of the children on nasal feeding were significantly smaller than those of the children without nasal feeding and the normal children. The best cut-off point for the tongue muscle thickness change data was 1.0 cm,and that of the hyoid bone displacement amplitude was 1.5 cm.All of the ICCs were above 0.4,indicating good intra-rater and inter-rater reliability for the SUS examination. Conclusion Submental ultrasonongraphy can help assess the swallowing function of children with oropharyngeal swallowing disorders.
