OBJECTIVE: This study was conducted to evaluate the percutaneous absorption of aconitine and mesaconitine in extracts of Radix Aconitum kusnezoffii. METHODS: The extracts of Radix Aconitum kusnezoffii were collected by using Franz diffusion cells after permeation through the skin of rats. Then rate constants of skin permeation of aconitine and mesaconitine were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). RESULTS: Under the condition that the concentrations of azone and propylene glycol were both 4%, the cumulative doses of skin permeation (Q) of mesaconitine and aconitine in the extracts of Radix Aconitum kusnezoffii (600 mg/ml) for 24 hours were 165.819 and 487.747 microg/cm(2) respectively, and their rate constants of skin permeation were 18.391 and 78.805 microg.cm(-2).h(-1) respectively. CONCLUSION: The aconitine and mesaconitine in the extracts of Radix Aconitum kusnezoffii can penetrate well through the skin of rats. Propylene glycol and azone can promote this penetration effects. The formula of skin permeation of mesaconitine and aconitine is in accordance with Higuchi equation and there is a linear relationship between Q and t(1/2).

Objective To explore the relationship between digit ratio and personality among male college students of Han nationality. Methods 162 male college students of Han nationality were surveyed with Eysenck Personality Questionnaire. Measurements were taken from the middle of the basal crease to the tip of the finger by electronic vernier caliper. Personality factors scores were compared between male college students of Han nationality and normal. Finger length and digit ratio of the left hand and the right hand were compared among male college students of Han nationality. Correlation coefficient between digit ratio and personality was calculated. Results The male college students of Han nationality showed significantly lower psychoticism (4.53 ± 2. 55 ) and lie (9.64 ± 3. 55 ) than normal ( 5. 96 ± 2.84,12. 17 ± 3.57; t = - 7. 135, - 9. 085 ) , but higher neuroticism ( 12.67 ±3.94) than normal ( 10.63 ±4.44, t=6.573). The length of index finger(2D) & ring finger(4D) and ently higher than those of the right hand (71.74 ± 4. 01 ,74.85 ± 4.41,0. 8973 ± 0. 0306; P < 0.05 ). There was an association of psychoticism with index finger(2D), middle finger(3D), ring finger(4D) and little finger(5D)among male college students of Han nationality ( r=0. 263,0.254,0.248,0.287,0.235,0.243,0.246,0. 283; P< 0. 01 ). There was an association of lie with index finger( 2D ), middle finger( 3D), the right ring finger( 4D ) & little finger(5D) among male college students of Han nationality ( r= -0. 208, -0. 213, -0. 185, -0. 226,-0.165, -0. 185; P< 0. 05 ). There was an association of neuroticism with the left second to fourth digit ratio ratio is found among male introvert college students of Han nationality. Digit ratio may be correlated with personality among male college students of Han nationality.

Objective: To compare the clinical characteristics and plasma level of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) between the patients with hypertensive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in elder age (HHCME) and the patients with hypertensive left ventricular hypertrophy (HTN-LVH).
Methods: Our work included 2 groups, HHCME group,n=47 and HTN-LVH group,n=44. Duplex Doppler echocardiography was performed to determine left atrial diameter (LAd), left ventricular end-diastolic dimension (LVEDd), interventricular septal thickness (IVST), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), velocity of early diastolic period (VE) and velocity of end-diastolic period (VA) in mitral valve oriifce. Plasma level of NT-proBNP was measured by ELISA. The above indexes were compared between 2 groups.
Results:①Compared with HTN-LVH group, HHCME group presented decreased LVEDd and increased IVST, LVEF, allP<0.001. There were no signiifcant differences in VE/VA ratio and LAd between 2 groups, allP>0.05.②Plasma level of NT-proBNP was higher in HHCME group,P<0.01. With the adjusted age, gender, history of hypertension, LAd, IVST, left ventricular systolic and diastolic function, the level of NT-proBNP in HHCME group (1317.19 fmol/ml) was still signiifcantly higher than that in HTN-LVH group (526.19fmol/ml),P<0.01.
Conclusion: The plasma NT-proBNP level was higher in HHCME patients than that in HTN-LVH patients which indicated that HHCME patients may have worse prognosis. NT-proBNP might be helpful for differencing HHCME.

Objective To observe the expression and distribution of myofibroblasts in the healing process of bile duct and discuss its function and significance in the process of iatrogenic biliary stricture formation. Methods A model of trauma-repair of bile duct in the dog was made . The anastomosis tissues on week 1,3 and month 3,6 after operation were studied with TEM and immunohistochemical SP staining of SMA. Results Myofibroblasts functioned actively and lasted for the whole process, extracellular matrix overdeposited. SMA staining was observed in myofibroblasts and highly expressed from 1 week to 6 months after operation. The consequence easily leaded to scar contracture and anastomoctic stenosis. Conclusion Myofibroblast is the main cause of scar contracture of bile duct.

Histone deacetylase 8(HDAC8)is a zinc-dependent class I histone deacetylase, closely related to human pathophysiology. HDAC8 involves in various critical signaling networks and is implicated as a therapeutic target in various diseases, including cancer, X-linked intellectual disability and parasitic infections. More and more selective HDAC8 inhibitors have been developed based on deepening study of its well-characterized crystal structure. They are mainly divided into several categories such as phenyl hydroxamic acids, indoles, ortho-aryl-N-hydroxycinnamides, azetidinones etc. . Current challenges remain in the development of potent selective inhibitors that would specifically target HDAC8 with fewer adverse effects compared with pan-HDAC inhibitors. Herein, we reviewed the progress in the study of structure and functions of HDAC8 as well as the development of selective HDAC8 inhibitors.
