Objective To detect the protein expression of chemotactic monocyte chemotactic protein 1 (MCP 1), macrophage inflammatory protein 1 alpha (MIP 1alpha) and regulated on activation normal T cell expression secretion (RANTES) in the affected muscle of simple polymyositis (SPM), and analysed the relationship between the amount of these proteins and the stage, severity of SPM.Methods Immuohistochemical LAB technique was used to detect the expression of these chemotactic factor protein in SPM affected muscle specimens. The expression levels of these chemotactic factors were determined by Image Analyzer system. Results The expressions of these chemotactic factors protein in SPM were showed in SPM. The expression levels of MCP 1 increased remarkably in the chronic SPM group and the severer one (P0 05).Conclusion MCP 1 not only could play an important role in the chronic SPM,but also related to the severity of the disease,it might be as an index on the development and deterioration of the di sease;MIP 1alpha might contribute to the continuous development of the disease. RANTES might embody its role as a ubiquitous response to inflammation during the onset of SPM.

Objective To investigate the effect of drug dependence severity on the relationship between impulsivity and craving. Methods 36 abstiuent drug-dependent individuals were recruited in the study. The participants were divided into the heavy depeudence group (HDG) or the low dependence group (LDG) according to the scores of Addiction Severity Index (ASI).The Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-11) and classical Stroop task were used to measure the trait impulsivity and state impulsivity.Block designed cue-induced craving paradigm was presented to measure cue-elicited craving. Results For the HDG,a significant positive correlation was found between trait impulsivity (the mean value of BIS-11-CI scale was (39.03± 16.50)) or state impulsivity (the difference of reaction time between congruent and incongruent situation was (87.77±36.95)ms)and cue-elicited craving (0.83± 1.91)(r=0.487,0.500,P<0.05).However,for the LDG subjects, the impulsivity was not found significantly correlated with the cue-elicited craving(r=-0.261,0.081,P>0.05).Conclusion The addiction severity influences the relationship between impulsivity and craving, and impulsivity can only be used as a predictor of relapse in HDG.The findings suggest that the drug may influence the shared brain mechanism between impulsivity and craving.

The significance of the performance of conventional in vitro fertilization and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) using sibling oocytes from couples with subfertile male or unexplained infertility was evaluated. A total of 410 sibling oocyte cumulus-corona complexes (OCCC) from 21 couples with subfertile male (group A) and 11 unexplained infertile couples (group B) were randomly divided, in order of retrieval, into two groups inseminated either by conventional IVF or by ICSI. The treatment outcomes and the influence of infertility factors on fertilization in each group were compared. The results showed that although the two pronuclear (2PN) fertilization rate per injected sibling oocytes was significantly higher after ICSI (group A: 68.2% +/- 28.8%; group B: 66.2% +/- 24.9%) than after conventional IVF (group A: 41.8% +/- 32.7%; group B: 40.1% +/- 22.1%), the other variables studied included: the fertilization rates of per allocated sibling oocytes IVF/ICSI, the fertilization rates of sibling oocytes IVF/ICSI after excluding failed IVF fertilization cycles, as well as the cleavage rates of normal fertilization were not statistically significant (P>0.05). Similarly, though the total fertilization failure rate in the IVF group (group A: 42.9%; group B: 36.4%) was significantly higher than in the ICSI group (group A: 4.8%; group B: 0), we did not cancel cycles due to the normal fertilization of sibling oocytes. Embryo transfer was possible in all 32 couples. There were 10 clinical pregnancies in the two groups. We also discovered a possible association between some semen parameters and sperm functions of group A, and women age and duration of infertility of group B and fertilization. It is suggested that adoption of the split IVF/ICSI technology in the above cases may help eliminate fertilization failures. This is also a useful method to investigate the effect of single factor on the employment of assisted reproductive technology.

This is a report of 3 cases of parkinsonism with long term administration of lamivudine. The clinic
features were mask like faces, shuffling gait, lethargy and reduced automatic movement. After stopping
use of lamivudine and treatment of anticholingeric drugs, the symptoms and signs of all cases were
ameliorated. The possibilities of Wilson’s disease and other secondary parkinsonisms were excluded.
The parkinsonism was attributed to complications from lamivudine. Lamivudine associated parkinsonism
has not been reported previously in the medical literature.
