Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2004;0(08):-
Metallic cancellous screw is one of the fixation devices widely used for bone fractures. It has always been reported that many cases of internal fixation failed just because of screw loosening or pullout. The stability of fixation is associated with the pullout strength of screws. The pullout strength strongly depends on the geometrical design of the screw thread, the material and the insertion technique of the screw, and the bone mineral density of the insertion site of the screw.

Chinese Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics 1999;0(04):-
Dopamine(DA) modulates diverse wake-related behaviors including movement, reward, and cognition.Dopaminergic neurons are located in the substantia nigra pars compacta and ventral tegmental area. There are five distinct DA receptors(R):D_1R,D_2R(D_(2S)R and D_(2L)R), D_3R,D_4R and D_5R in the central nervous system, in which D_1R and D_2R are majorly expressed. The affinity of D_2R for endogenous DA is significantly higher than that of D_1R.Re- cently, studies by pharmacological and gene knock-out animals revealed that dopamine D_2R is essential inmaintaining wakefulness. Here,we review the progress on roles of D_2R in sleep-wake regulation.

Aim To set up a highly effective and automatic mouse sleep-wake bioassay system, and evaluate the system through analysis of the somnogenic effects of L-stepholidine(SPD),targeting at dopamine D1/D2 receptors in mice. Methods The animals were housed in an insulated and soundproof recording chamber maintained at a constant temperature and humidity on an automatically controlled 12 h light/12 h dark cycle. The electroencephalogram and electromyogram were recorded continuously for 48 hours and analyzed by SleepSign software.Saline was administered ip to the mice at 21:00 on the first day,and SPD was given on the next day at the same hour. The vigilance state was analyzed based on the polygraphic recordings by the same software. Results The system has been demonstrated to be highly efficient and stable in recording and reliable in analyzing sleep-wake behavior in mice. With the aid of the sleep bioassay system,we found that SPD significantly increased the total time spent in sleep during dark period, and prolonged durations of non-rapid eye movement sleep episodes, with a concomitant reduction in amount and EEG power density of wakefulness.SPD rendered no effect on rapid eye movement sleep. Conclusion Through the reliable mouse sleep bioassay system,we found that SPD promotes non-rapid eye movement sleep but not rapid eye movement sleep in mice.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2016;30(4):299-305
OBJECTIVE:
To survey the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) in adults aged over 60 years in Dongying city, and analyze the risk factors and the extent of damage to the quality of life for the elderly to provide the basis for prevention and treatment of OSAHS people.
METHOD:
One thousand subjects were derived from a random cluster sampling in seven districts of Dongying city:they were asked to answer the questions from questionnaires. According to the questionnaire scoring, 100 subjects in high-risk group were selected randomly to make polysomnography monitoring for a whole night,so that the prevalence of the disease was calculated and the related risk factors were analyzed; elderly patients diagnosed with OSAHS were asked to assess the quality of life assessment questionnaire by face to face to understand the quality of life dimensions injury.
RESULT:
The actual number of completed surveys was 934, and the efficiency was 93.4%. The estimated prevalence of OSARS in elder people defined by apnea-hypopnea index (AHI ≥ 5) was 32.5%; Multivariate analysis revealed that age smoking, family snoring, neck circumference, waist circumference, and abnormality of the upper airway were respectively independent risk factors of OSAHS,and the abnormalities of the upper airway had the most obvious impact on AHI. The damage caused by OSAHS to the quality of life for elderly people followed their daily work life, social relationships, symptoms, alertness, emotional, general health, symptoms.
CONCLUSION
The estimated prevalences of OSAHS in elder people were high. Actively promoting good habits to older people, weight loss, early detection and correct upper airway abnormalities may reduce the estimated prevalence of OSAHS. In the treatment process, the patient's physician should pay attention to their emotional and groom their psychological problems to improve the quality of life in elder people.
