1.Mitomycin C as an adjuvant in glaucoma surgery
Ophthalmology in China 1993;0(03):-
The most common cause of glaucoma filtration surgery failure is cicatrization secondary to fibroblast proliferation and of collagen. The high-risk factors for filtration failure include young age, aphakia, inflammation, neovascularization, and previous failure of filtration operation. Studies have shown beneficial effects of a single dose intraoperative mitomycin C,an antimetabolite, in inhibiting fibroblast proliferation and slceral wound cicatrization, thereby promoting success in eyes of poor surgical prognosis. Corneal complications have been minor.

Objective To investigate the relationship between monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) gene -2518G/A polymorphism and cerebral infarction(CI) of Han population in Chinese Hunan district. Methods The -2518G/A polymorphism in MCP-1 gene was detected by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis (PCR-RFLP) and DNA sequencing in 162 patients with CI (CI group) and 150 normal controls (NC group). The serum level of MCP-1 in the two groups was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Results In CI group, genotypic frequency of GG was 39.5%, GA was 37.0%, and AA was 23.5%. The allele frequency of G was 58.0% and A was 42.0%. In NC group, genotypic frequency of GG was 27.3%, GA was 39.3%, and AA was 33.4%. The allele frequency of G was 47.0% and A was 53.0%. The frequencies of MCP-1 -2518GG genetype and G allele in CI group were significantly higher than those in CI group (all P

Objective:To establish the emergency medical equipment rental center, not only can reduce the repeated purchase for medical equipment, but also can achieve resource sharing, reduce equipment maintenance cost, and improve utilization efficiency. Methods: To establish emergency medical equipment rental center, which adopted lease mode and centralized management mode to use equipment. Department of medical engineering managed this center and this department is responsible to ensure every clinical department can use equipment by lease method. Results: The center has optimized the resource allocation of hospital, obviously reduced equipment input cost, improved utilization rate of medical facility since it were established. This mode provided reliable service for clinical departments. Conclusion: The established rental center of emergency medical equipment has changed the traditional management mode to a new feasible mode which can improve centralized management for medical devices, reduce waste for medical resource and achieve resource sharing.

Chinese Journal of Dermatology 1995;0(01):-
Objective To study the percentage and the distribution of nosocomial infection, and susceptibility of related pathogens to antibiotics in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods The clinical data of in patients with SLE in our hospital from June, 1990 to June, 1998 were analyzed. The susceptibility of the pathogens to antimicrobial agents was tested by K-B paper dilution method. Results The percentage of nosocomial infection in these cases was 16.1% . The major pathogens were staphylococcas aureus, Escherichia coli and Candida. The most highly resistant microbes were E.coli, S.arueus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Conclusions The nosocomial infection is one of the most common complication of SLE in the in patients. It is necessary to examine the pathogens regularly and use antibacterial agents according to the susceptibility.

Objective To evaluate the effect of endothelin A receptor antisense oligodeoxynucleotides (ETAR-ASODN)on the growth of human prostatic stromal cells. Methods Primary cultured prostatic stromal cells were derived from patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).The cells of passages 4~6 were routinely used for this study after identification.ETAR-ASODN at the concentrations of 5,10 and 15 ?mol/L were added into the culture cells with lipofectin, and cell proliferation was measured by MTT assay. The expression of ETA receptor was tested by 125 I-ET-1 radioligand banding assay. Results MTT assays showed a significant decrease in cell proliferation in stromal cells after 5,10 and 15?mol/L ETAR-ASODN were added with the A 540 values being 0.304?0.082,0.296?0.008 and 0.194?0.061,respectively.The proliferative activity was significantly decreased compared with control group ( P

Journal of Environment and Health 1989;0(06):-
Objective To approach the effect of acrylonitrile (ACN) on the proliferation and differentiation of the lung fibroblasts of mice. Methods The purification and primary culture of the lung fibroblasts(LFb)of new born mice were conducted. The cells were treated with ACN added in the medium at the varying doses of 0.01, 0.5, 1.0, 10.0, 50.0, 100.0 and 200.0 ?g/ml. The cytomorphological methods were used, the protein, malonaldehyde (MDA) and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) were determined. Results No inhibitted effect on the lung fibroblasts was observed at the doses of 0.01-10.0 ?g/ml. At the doses of 50.0-200.0 ?g/ml, acrylonitrile could inhibit the differentiation and proliferation of the cells, the volume of cells became small, the rate of cell clusters decreased, at the doses of 10.0-200.0 ?g/ml, the content of protein and the activity of SOD decreased, MDA content increased. Conclusion Acrylonitrile can inhibit the proliferation and differentiation of the lung fibroblasts in mice, protein synthesis inhibition and lipid peroxidation are considered as the related factors.

Chinese Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery 2001;0(02):-
Objective To study the prevention and treatment of intra- or post- operative complications of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for hepatic malignancy. Methods A series of 353 patients with primary hepatic carcinoma or secondary hepatic malignancy verified by pathological examinations and clinical manifestations underwent 452 times of RFA between October 1999 and March 2003, including 344 cases of percutaneous RFA and 9 cases of RFA during open surgery. There were 198 cases of primary hepatic carcinoma previously unoperated, 81 cases of recurrent hepatic carcinoma after surgery, and 74 cases of secondary hepatic malignancy. All the patients were followed up to make out short- or long-term surgical complications. Results Complications happened in 12 cases: skin burn by the electrode (2 cases), pneumothorax (1 case), right hydrothorax (1 case), vena cava thrombus (1 case), right bile duct injury and stricture (1 case), gastric external fistula (1 case), bile leakage in the left lateral lobe of the liver (1 case), hepatic abscess (1 case), external fistula of the ascending colon resulted from hepatic abscess (1 case), internal fistula of the duodenum, liver and right thorax resulted from hepatic abscess (1 case), and intra-abdominal hemorrhage (1 case). The incidence of complication was 2 65% (12/452) and the complication-related mortality was 8 33% (1/12). Conclusions RFA is a kind of minimally invasive procedure. But RFA especially percutaneous RFA may involve some risks for patients with the tumor located at the porta hepatic or the surface of the liver, or adhered to hollow organs, especially those who had a history of abdominal operation and adhesions of hollow viscera to the liver. Some complications can be prevented and effectively treated in the event of proper selection of patients, careful performance during the surgery, intensive postoperative care, effective hemostasia and efficient infection prevention.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of endoscopic injection hemostasis and sequential application of sandostatin in treatment of Dieulafoy's lesion. Methods After diagnosis of Dieulafoy's lesion confirmed, endoscopic injection hemostasis(EIH) together with mixture hypertonic saline and epinephrine(HSE) was performed, and then sandostatin was given consecutively for 7 days. The control group included the patients who were not given sandostatin or given just for 1 to 2 days. Results The rates of recurrent bleeding and transfer into surgery in sandostatin group were significantly lower than those in control group,(12.5% and 6.3% versus 53.8% and 46.2% respectively, P
