Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2015;29(5):396-399
OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the effect of patient education on patients with allergic rhinitis (AR).
METHOD:
From January 2009 to December 2013, 100 cases of allergic rhinitis were treated. The patients were randomly divided into experimental group or control group by Stochastic tables law,50 patients in control group accepted only drug treatment, 50 patients in experimental group accepted both drug treatment and patient education. The difference in compliance with treatment, treatment effect, incidence of adverse drug reactions and complications, average costs and times of treatment between two groups were evaluated by the rhinoconjunctivitis quality of life questionnaire (RQLQ) score. The independent sample t-test and χ2 test were used for statistical analysis.
RESULT:
The patients of experimental group showed more positive attitude to treatment compared to the patients of control group (P < 0.01). The average scores of each classification and overall symptoms after treatment in experimental group were lower than those in control group (P < 0.05). The incidence of adverse drug reactions (nose-bleed, dry nose, nasal mucosa ulcer)and complications in patients with AR (asthma, chronic cough, secretory otitis media) in experimental group was lower than that in control group, with statistically differences (P < 0.05). The average times of treatment and costs of diagnosis and treatment(calculation of budesonide nasal spray)in experimental group were significantly lower than those in control group (P < 0.01). The total score for RQLQ and the scores of seven dimensions in experimental group were lower than those in control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
Patient education can help the patients with AR to cooperate actively with treatment, to reduce the incidence of adverse drug reactions and AR complications, and to save medical costs and improve the quality of life.

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of 32P application and interventional therapy in skin hemangioma, and to sum up the role of nursing in the process of the treatment. Methods 734 cases of skin hemangiorna were involved in the study. Personalized treatment strategy and nursing measures were implemented according to different kinds of skin hernangioma, 32p application device was made with the dose of 1 Gy per square centimeter every day, and the total dose of interventional therapy was from 6.8μCi to 10.0μCi per square centimeter according to the site of lesions and the patients' age. The treatment interva] was about one and a haft month or two months. The specific nursing measures were as follows: effective communication should be undertaken to remove the concerns of patients before therapy. Meanwhile, the lesions should be taken a picture by a digital camera before and after therapy. Thus, the effect could be evaluated objectively. In addition, the follow-up by telephone also was done in the study. Results the cure rate and the effective rate of 32P in the treatment of skin hemangioma were 78.88% and 94.14% respectively. The treatment effect was the best in hemangioma simplex among different kinds of skin hemangioma. The treatment effect had a negative correlation with the age of the patients. Selective nursing reduced incidence of complication. Conclusions There's a satisfactory effect of 32p application and interventional therapy in the treatment of skin hemangioma. Meanwhile, nursing plays an important role in the treatment.

Objective By using percutaneous endovascular microcatheter technique to establish an animal model of coronary microembolization in mini-swine which is suitable for long-term observation. Methods Coronary microembolization was established in 10 mini-swine by infusing 15 × 10~4 microspheres (φ45μm) selectively into the left anterior descending artery (n = 10). Coronary flow reserve (CFR) was measured by Doppler wire and left ventricular eject fraction (EF) was assessed by echocardiography.Hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining and nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) dye were used to demonstrate the presence of microembolization after the procedure of coronary microembolization. The ultra-structures of cardiomyocyte were observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Before sacrifice, the CFR measurement and coronary angiography were performed again in survival animals. Results The coronary microvascular integrity (CFR < 2.0) and left ventricular function (EF < 50% ) were damaged by coronary microembolization. One month after the procedure, all the 10 animals survived and were able to receive the angiography and CFR measurement again. HE staining and NBT dye could demonstrate the presence of microembolization. The edema and fibrosis of cardiomyocytes could be revealed with TEM. Conclusion The animal model of coronary microembolization can be established in mini-swine by using percutaneous endovascular microcatheter technique. The model is suitable for long-term observation, the preparation is technically-simple and minimally-invasive with very low mortality. Therefore, this kind of animal model is an ideal experimental form for studying the mechanism of coronary microembolization.

Objective:To investigate the correlation of the relative cerebral blood flow (rCBF) of three dimensional arterial spin labeling (3D ASL) with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression and microvessel density (MVD) in glioma. Methods:Fifty-three glio-ma patients confirmed by pathology were subjected to conventional, enhanced MR and 3D ASL imaging before operation to deter-mine VEGF expression and MVD levels in each patient. The correlations of rCBF with VEGF expression and MVD in glioma were evaluat-ed, respectively. Results:rCBF was noted to be positively correlated to VEGF expression and MVD in glioma. The rs were 0.728 (VEGF) and 0.620 (MVD), respectively (P<0.05). Conclusion:The positive correlation of rCBF with VEGF expression and MVD in glioma implied that 3D ASL is beneficial for evaluating microvessel angiogenesis in glioma prior to surgery. This finding is significant for developing clin-ical treatment plans and for assessing patient prognoses.

Aim To discuss the effects and mechanism of Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharides and metformin on myocardial structure and hemodynamics in type 2 diabetic rats. Methods High fat diet combined with intraperitoneal injection of low dose streptozotocin 30 mg· kg -1 was applied to establish rat model of type 2 diabetes mellitus .The diabetic rats were randomly into normal control group ,diabetes group , ganoderma lucid-um polysaccharides group (600 mg· kg -1 ) , metformin group ( 600 mg · kg -1 ) , combination group ( ganoder-ma lucidum polysaccharides 300 mg · kg -1 +metform-in 300 mg· kg -1 ) .After 12 weeks′treatment, the lev-els of fasting serum glucose were determined and the hemodynamic parameters (LVSP,LVEDP,dp/dtmax,-dp/dtmax ) were determined.Collagen volume fraction ( CVF ) was detected by Van Gieson . Immunohisto-chemical method and Western blot were used to detect myocardial tissue MMP-2 protein expression .Results The fasting blood glucose was significantly decreased in the combined treatment group .Combined medication could significantly improve hemodynamic parameters in diabetic rats: reduced LVEP and raised LVEDP , dp/dtmax and -dp/dtmax .CVF was significantly decreased in combination group .The expression of MMP-2 in my-ocardial tissue was significantly inhibited .Conclusions The combination of Ganoderma lucidum polysaccha-ride and metformin can significantly improve the hemo-dynamic parameters in type 2 diabetic rats, and have a preventive effect on diabetic cardiomyopathy . The mechanism may be related to the down regulation of the expression of MMP-2.
