Jinyingzi is the dry ripe fruit of Rosa leav gata Michx.. It contains mainly tannic acid, malic acid, citric acid, vitamin C and saponins. Its effect on urinary sy stem was studied on mouse Pollakiuria model by severing hypogastric nerve. Results showed that the water extract of R. laevigata can decrease the frequency and prolong the interval of urination and increase the quantity of eacn urination. The said extract can inhibit the automatic contraction of isolated rabbit jejunal smooth muscle and antagonize the spasmodic contraction arouscd by acetylcholine and barium chloride of isolated rabbit jejunal smoothmusele, and isolated vesical smooth muscle of mouse, and antagonize reaction of contractility aroused by noradrenalin on isolated thoracic aorta strips of rabbit. All of the the three inhibitions of smooth muscle contraction showed signicant dose-response curve.

Objective To understand the clinical features and laboratory examination and diagnosis of Langerhas cell histio-cytosis (LCH) in newborns. Methods Retrospective analysis of the clinical data of a neonatal case of LCH was performed. Results A one-day-old girl was admitted with chief complaint of eating less, less crying and skin rash for one day. The unequal sized rash was on the head, limbs, trunk, toe and oral mucosa. The skin rashes were protruding from the skin and were partially broken and crusted. Biopsy of the skin tissue showed the expression of S-100 and CD1α, consistent with the diagnosis of LCH. Conclusions When new-borns have special rash after birth, LCH should be considered. To avoid misdiagnosis, skin biopsy should be performed.

AIM To study the anti oxidation and cancer chemoprevention mechanism of procyanidins extracted from Vitis vinifera. METHODS A simple colorimetric method is used for the measurement of H 2O 2 produced by PMNs induced by croton oil. RESULTS It was shown that procyanidins could inhibit PMNs releasing H 2O 2 induced by croton oil. Procyanidins serum of rats also had the same effect. The effect was time and dose dependent. Inhibitory effect of procyanidins on hepatic mitochondria lipid peroxidation induced by croton oil was also observed. Procyanidins could raise the activity of SOD and decrease the level of MDA. CONCLUSION It was concluded that anti oxidation effect of procyanidins was one important mechanism of cancer chemoprevention.

Background and purpose:Cancer is a major public health issue in China and worldwide, which se-riously threatens human beings as well as social and economic development. This study explored the relationships between the cancer distribution characteristics and cancer prevalences in Chinese cancer surveillance regions to provide scientific evidence for cancer prevention and management. Methods:The data were obtained from the book named“Prevalence and Mortality of Cancer in China from 2003-2007” including incidence of 23 cancer types in 32 regions of China published by the Academy of Military Medical Sciences of the Chinese PLA in 2012. Correspondence analysis was used to gain the relation between the prevalence and area distribution. Cluster analysis was used to obtain the classifications with special significance by putting the cancers or regions with similar characteristics into a cluster. Results:Esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer, colorectal and anal cancer have high incidence and mortality in both genders. The districts with high incidence of esophageal cancer and gastric cancer were grouped together. The counties or cities (Shexian, Yangcheng, Linzhou, Yanting, Yangzhong and Jianhu) with high incidence of esophageal cancer and gastric cancer were classified into same cluster frequently. Fusui was grouped along because of the lower incidence of various cancers than the national average except for liver cancer. Guangzhou, Sihui and Zhongshan were the districts with high incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in both genders. Rural areas in Qidong and Haimen were classified into a cluster in male and total data for the high incidence of liver cancer. Colorectal cancer, anal cancer and breast cancer in women also had high incidence in urban areas. Cervical cancer had the second level high incidence in women following diseases of digestive system, breast cancer and lung cancer. Conclusion:Similar pathogenic factors may exist in counties or cities of Shexian, Cixian, Yangcheng, etc, because of the high prevalence of esophageal cancer. Similar pathogenic factors may also exist in other districts or cancers that were classified into the same cluster.

AIM To observed the effect of procyanidins on DNA damage induced by carcinogen or hydroxyl radical (OH?),and inhibitory effect on topoisomerase. METHODS Using labeled TdR uptake assay and single cell gel electrophonesis. Topoisomerase was extracted from B16F10 cell lines, used agarose gel electrophoresis assay. RESULTS It was showed that hydroxyl radical (OH?) or different doses of MNNG can induce severe DNA damage of L 929 cell lines. Procyanidins can alleviate the damage induced by MNNG or OH?. It shows certain dose dependent effect relationship . But there is no significant inhibitory against Topo Ⅱ activity by procyanidins even at a dose of 50 ?mol?L -1 . CONCLUSION Procyanidins from grapes seeds can protect DNA damage, but not inhibit topoisomerase activity. This is one of cancer chemoprevention mechanism of Procyanidins.
