BACKGROUND: The efficacy of Cyclosporin A(CyA) in the treatment of psoriasis is well recongized, the dosage less than 5mg/kg per day(mg/kg/d) is recommended. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the indication, dose, course and side-effects of CyA therapy for psoriasis, especially in China. METHODS: Forty patients with psoriasis were treated with doses of CyA 5mg/kg/d, compared with 20 patients treated with Tigason lmg/kg/d by Global PAST. RESULTS: 1. Of 40 patients 33 patients (82.5%)were cured clinically in 4-5weeks and all the patients(100%) had responses to the therapy. 2. The efficacy and the Global PASI reduction of CyA therapy were significantly better than that of Tigason therapy. 3. During the CyA therapy, no severe side-effects and obvious laboratory changes were found. CONCLUSION: CyA(5mg/kg/d) was satisfactory for psoriasis, especially for psoriasis pustulosa, arthropathica and erythroderma. CyA was found to be superior to Tigason. The therapy course and side-effects seemed to be related to the dosage.

Objective To observe the change on living blood cells of peripheral bloodstream in patients with TIA.Methods To observe the behavior of living blood cells in the peripheral bloodstream of 18 patients with TIA using high magnification microscopy system, and compared with 20 healthy individuals. Results Erythrocyte aggregation rate, leukocyte activation rate, thrombocyte activation rate, and the extent of those changes were higher in the TIA group than in the control group. This difference was statistically significant ( P

Chinese Medical Equipment Journal 1989;0(03):-
A master-slave electrical impedance tomography (EIT) system for body complex impedance based on digital signal processor (DSP) is designed in this paper. Used as the master computer, a PC performs the image reconstruction and display on time, while DSP carries out such tasks as electrode selection, data acquisition and data communication with the master. Based on DDS technique, the signal generator can create the sine wave signals, and it's amplitude, frequency and phase can be continuously adjusted. The designed feedback unit can improve the linearity and the stability of the voltage-controlled current source effectively. Undersampling technology and digital demodulation technology are used in this system in order to attain the information of real and imaginary components of the body complex impedance. Back projection method is adopted to reconstruct the image in this system. Experimental results show that this system improves the data acquisition speed and the image resolution.

Objective To explore the curative effects, side effects and complications of arterial embolization for the treatment of uterine leiomyoma. Methods Bilateral uterine arterial embolization with silk particles of 350~500 ?m was performed in 16 cases of uterine leiomyomas with uterine hemorrhage as the main complaint. Results 15 patients underwent technically successful embolization. No serious complications occurred. The patients were followed up for 3~12 months. Menses returned to regular cycle. In the patients with anemia, the hemoglobin concentration rose up to normal level. The sizes of uterine leiomyoma decreased by 52% after 6 months of the treatment. Conclusions Uterine arterial embolization is an effective and less invasive therapy with no serious complications for patients with uterine leiomyoma, especially for presentation of the uterus.

Objective To investigate the relationship between breast cancer and G919A polymorphisms of CBS (cystathionine β synthase) in patients with breast cancer in Han nationality in Xinjiang. Method Three hundred breast cancer patients and 300 normal controls of Han nationality were genotyped by ARMS method, and then the relative biochemical indicators were detected by the automatic biochemical analyzer. Results The Hcy level of breast cancer patients were higher than that of control group (P < 0.05). Genotypes GG, GA, AA of CBS G919A and allele G,A, in breast cancer patients were 63.7%, 24%, 12.3% and 75.7%, 24.3% respectively, which had no statistically significance when compared with those of the controls (P > 0.05). Conclusion The high level of Hcy may be a risk factor for breast cancer in Han nationality in Xinjiang and there was no relationship between CBS G919A polymorphism and breast cancer.

AIM: To investigate the phenomenon that miR-let-7d regulates the proliferation and invasion abilities of the lung cancer cells through nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors γ (PPARγ).METHODS: The relation between PPARγ and microRNA was analyzed by bioinformatics. The plasmid reporter assay was used to verify that PPARγ was the target of miR-let-7d.The lung cancer cell line with low expression of PPARγ was selected from different lung cancer cell lines by Western blot. The regulatory role of miR-let-7d in the lung cancer cells was determined by dual luciferase labeling and Western blot. The effect of miR-let-7d on the proliferation ability of lung cancer cells was detected by colony formation assay, the effect of miR-let-7d on the invasive ability of lung cancer cells was detected by Transwell invasion assay.RESULTS: The results of bioinformatic analysis showed that miR-let-7d regulated the expression of PPARγ, and the 3'UTR of PPARγ contained 2 functional miR-let-7d binding sites, indicating that PPARγ is a direct target of miR-let-7d.miR-let-7d was able to directly regulate the expression of PPARγ at mRNA and protein levels.Transfection of miR-let-7d inhibitor promoted the proliferation and invasion abilities of lung cancer cells by increasing the expression of PPARγ.CONCLUSION: miR-let-7d increases the expression of tumor suppressor PPARγ to inhibit the proliferation and invasive abilities of lung cancer cells.

Cao reported that melagenine extracted from human placenta was effective in the clinical treatment of vitiligo, to elucidate the possible mechanism involved, melagenine and placenta peptide were added to melanocytes in the culture, and the culture without melagenine as control. The results obtained by MTT showed that melagenine can stimulate melanoeyte proliferation, its promoting rate was 42.5%, while placenta peptide got a promoting rate of 5.9%, the difference was significant (P

OBJECTIVE:To observe therapeutic efficacy of Jiangu tongxiao pills in the treatment of osteoarthritis. METH-ODS:72 patients with osteoarthritis were randomly divided into treatment group and control group with 36 cases in each group. Treatment group was given Jiangu tongxiao pill orally,5 g/time,3 times/d;control group was treated with Glucosamine sulfate capsules orally. 0.5 g/time,3 times/d. A treatment course lasted for 7 days, and both group received 4 treatment courses. Clinical ef-ficacy,WOMAC score and VAS score were observed and compared between 2 groups. RESULTS:The total effective rate of treat-ment group(94.44%)was obviously superior to that(83.33%)of control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05). WOMAC score and VAS score of treatment group were lower than those of control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05). CONCLU-SIONS:Jiangu tongxiao pills has good therapeutic efficacy for osteoarthritis.

Chinese Journal of Digestion 2001;0(03):-
Objectives To observe the effect of inhibition of transforming growth factor (TGF)?1 on the growth and aggression of colon cancer cells by RNA interference. Methods HCT116 colon cancer cells were transfected with small interfering dsRNA (siRNA), the effect of the inhibition of TGF?1 was tested by semi-quantitative RT-PCR, and changes in cell cycle distribution were analyzed by flow cylometry, the ability of aggression was detected by soft agar colony assay. Results The inhibition of the expression of TGF?1 was significantly detected after the transfection of siRNA against TGF?1, which induced the increase of S phase by 59.0%-82. 5% and decrease in G2 phase, colony assay further demonstrated that siRNA against TGF?1 led to a significant reduction in colony formation as compared with the control group. Conclusions The present data suggested that the expression of TGF?1 was conveniently and rapidly blocked by siRNA transfection, and this may lead to the cell cycle arrest and inhibition of the growth and tumorigenesis of colon cells.
