Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(45):7285-7289
BACKGROUND:Stem cel therapy is superior to drug therapy for recovery of patient’s physiological mode, and cel transplantation therapy is becoming a trend.
OBJECTIVE:To observe the changes in dopamine content in the stratum of Parkinson’s disease rats after transplantation of tyrosine hydroxylase-modified human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cel s.
METHODS:After identification by enzyme digestion, pEGFP-C2-TH plasmid was transfected into the fourth generation of human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cel s by electroporation method, and then transfected cel s were injected into the right cerebral ventricle of Parkinson’s disease rats (experimental group). PBS injection was performed in the control group. Migration of dopamine in the brain tissue of rats was observed, and the content of dopamine was detected by high performance liquid chromatography.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:At 8 weeks after cel transplantation, the cel s gradual y migrated to the ventricles;after 12 weeks, the cel s migrated to the cortex, and expressed tyrosine hydroxylase antigen. Meanwhile, the content of dopamine was significantly higher in the experimental group than the control group (P<0.05). These results reveal that the intraventricular transplantation of tyrosine hydroxylase-modified human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cel s has obvious therapeutic effect on Parkinson’s disease rats.

Objective To compare the retromolar space (RMS) between different antero-posterior (A-P) skeletal patterns, and explore the relationship between the status of third molar eruption/impaction with the different A-P skeletal patterns. Methods A total of 90 orthodontic patients (25-35 years old) were investigated from dental pantomograms (DPTs) and lateral cephalograms (LC). The subjects were divided into three groups according to their ANB angle:skeletal classⅠ, skeletal classⅡ, and skeletal classⅢ. Each group was subdivided into impacted and erupted subgroups. Values of DPT and LC were traced, and the following variables were measured including mandibular body length, third molar angulation and ret-romolar space width. Results The retromolar space width was significantly smaller in classⅡsubjects than that in classⅢsubjects, and RMS was significantly smaller in impacted group than that in erupted group, respectively (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the mandibular angle in erupted subgroup (P<0.05). There was a smaller mandibular body length in impacted subjects (P<0.05). Conclusion There is a relationship between different morphological characteristics of sagittal skeletal pattern and the impacted status. Patients with shorter mandibular body length and decreased RMS width are more inclined to impaction.

Objective To assess the clinical characteristics of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients and patients's attitude towards BPH and BPH therapy. Methods The question-naires were distributed to 3560 BPH patients throughout the country during the period of Prostate Health Educational Programmer (PHELP). The survey was mainly focused on the questions of patient understanding toward BPH, the preference of treatment and international prostate score scale. Results The evaluations based on 2878 completed patient's questionnaires showed that 86. 0% of patients were diagnosed with moderate or severe low urinary tract syndrome. The main reasons for seek treatment was irritative symptoms (64. 1%), obstructive symptoms ( 41. 7%), physical checkup (41.0%), worry about prostate cancer(14. 5%). Most of patients sought treatment from big hospitals. Most of patients (69.1%) had right understanding towards BPH. Nocturia was the most bothersome of lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS) suggestive of BPH. Rapid LUTS improvement was the patient's main objective (87.4%). Conclusions Chinese patients did not recognize the complications of BPH progression. Irritative symptoms are the main reasons for seek treatment. Nocturia is most bothersome syndrome, which deteriorates quality of life mostly.
