Objective:To study the distribution and expression of STAT6 and to examine the suggested roles of STAT6 in the pathogenesis of eosinophil infiltration in nasal polyps and to evaluate the role of STAT6 in the pathogenesis of nasal polyps.Method:All selected cases met the enrollment criteria.Thirty samples of nasal polyps were obtained from patients undergoing nasal polypectomy, and 10 samples of inferior turbinate tissues were from patients undergoing nasal septal reconstruction.STAT6 in nasal polyp tissues from 30 nasal polyposis patients and 10 samples of inferior turbinate tissues were detected with immunohistochemistry(SP) method.SPSS13.0 system was used to perform the statistical analysis.Result:The positive expression of STAT6 was significantly higher in epithelium of nasal polyps than that of the control. The number of eosinophils was significantly higher in epithelium of nasal polyps than that of the control. The difference between these two groups was statitically significant(P<0.05). STAT6 positive cell were localized on epithelium, gland cells and on inflammatory cell of nasal polyps. STAT6 expression was positively correlated with the recruitment of eosinophils in nasal polyps. Conclusion:The high expression of STAT6 protein and the suggested roles of STAT6 in the recruitment of eosinophils in nasal polyps may contribute to the initiation and progression of nasal polyps.

Objective To investigate the application of ultrasound localization during craniocerebral operations. Methods Thirty-one cases with intracranial space occupying lesion were surgically treated with guidance of ultrasound, which was applied to real-time localization while revealing skull, tracing during operation and evaluation of the operation's effect before locking up the skull. Results In our group, 31 cases were checked using ultrasound localization during operation. Ultrasound could level the lesion's size and position, which was in accordance with the result of CT and MRI before operation. With the application of ultrasound localization, the lesion could be probed exactly. Conclusions Ultrasound localization during operation is simple, effective and secure, and is helpful to enhance the accuracy of the craniocerebral operations, reduce the blindly exploration, shorten the operation time, and what is more important, reduce unnecessary tissue damage of normal brain tissue, which obviously possess much clinical utilization.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the correlation between vascular endothelial function and aortic compliance in patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) and hypertension. METHODS A total of 103 OSAHS cases were divided into simple OSAHS group(n=55) and OSAHS complicated with hypertension group(n=48, OSAHS+HT group). 20 patients with simple hypertension were included into the hypertension group, and 20 healthy people served as controls. Vascular endothelial function was evaluated by detecting flow mediated dilation of the brachial artery(FMD) with color Doppler; the changes of aortic compliance in patients were detected by echocardiography. RESULTS The FMD, aortic tension and aortic distensibility index levels of OSAHS with hypertension group were significantly lower than the normal control group, hypertension group and OSAHS group(P<0.05); The aortic stiffness index level of OSAHS hypertension group was significantly higher than the normal group, the high blood pressure group and OSAHS group(P<0.05); Analysis of Spearman correlation coefficient of patients in OSAHS with hypertension group found aortic FMD were positively correlated with aortic stiffness index, negatively correlated with aortic tension index and aortic expansion; The aortic FMD, aortic tension, swelling index and aortic stiffness index in OSAHS hypertension group had positive correlation with AHI (P<0.05), and negative correlation with LSaO2(P<0.05). CONCLUSION OSAHS is associated with vascular endothelial dysfunction and decreased aortic compliance. When combined with hypertension, vascular endothelial function and aortic compliance will be significantly affected. The severity of OSAHS was closely related to the decrease of vascular endothelial function and the changes of aortic compliance.

Objective To establish the optimum syndrome classification method by using the technology of modern TCM diagnosis and artificial intelligence analysis method for menopausal syndrome differentiation of TCM. Methods Diagnostic information of menopausal syndrome patients was collected and syndromes were classified according to TCM syndrome differentiation standard. Three kinds of common data mining classification algorithm, Bayesian network, K-nearest neighbors and support vector machine, were used for analysis on information data of the four methods of diagnosis of menopausal syndrome. Results The time, classification accuracy, coverage rate and margin curve of establishing TCM syndrome model by the three kinds of algorithm methods under the circumstances of same training and data. The influence of the number of training samples of 3 kinds of algorithm methods was analyzed, and the model established by the three kinds of algorithms was evaluated. Conclusion Bayesian network algorithm is better than the other two methods in the menopausal syndrome classification effect.

This paper presents a medical image acquisition and analysis method-TRM (Topology Resolve-Map) Model-under natural light condition indoors. Firstly, in accordance to medical image color characteristics, a colorful and grayscale color control patch was made for use as supervised color. "Topology Resolve-Map-Restoration" was carried on in LAB color space of the one-dimensional L* space and the two-dimensional a* b* space. Then, L* value was regulated by subsection regulation and a* b* value was regulated by triangulation topological cutting--close in on center of gravity method. After correction of the 198 color blocks in 22 pictures, the results showed that, by comparison with the standard value, the deltaL*, deltaC* and deltaE decreased significantly (P < 0.01) after correction by TRM. After correction, the difference in image's color is reduced, the color saturation is improved and the value is closer to true value. TRM model can significantly reduce the color difference of the medical image under natural light condition; it has a good effect on color correction.

This paper is aimed to observe the difference of facial color of people with different health status by spectral photometric color measuring technique according to the theory of facial color diagnosis in Internal Classic. We gathered the facial color information about the health status of persons in healthy group (183), sub-healthy group (287) and disease group (370) respectively. The information included L, a, b, C values and reflection of different wavelengths in 400-700nm with CM-2600D spectral photometric color measuring instrument on 8 points. The results indicated that overall complexion color values of the people in the three groups were significantly different. The persons in the disease group looked deep dark in features. The people in the sub-healthy group looked pale in features. The loci L, a, b, C values were with varying degrees of significant differences (P < 0.05) at 6 points among the groups, and the central position of the face in all the groups was the position with most significant differences. Comparing the facial color information at the same point of the people in the three groups, we obtained each group's diagnostic special point. There existed diagnostic values in distinguishing disease status and various status of health in some degree by spectral photometric color measuring technique. The present method provides a prosperous quantitative basis for Chinese medical inspection of the complexion diagnosis.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2013;27(20):1125-1128
OBJECTIVE:
To study the expression of VEGF in sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma and its correlations with microvessel density (MVD), microlymphatic vessel density (MLVD).
METHOD:
The expression of VEGF, MVD and MLVD in 41 cases of sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma were detected by immunohistochemical technique.
RESULT:
In the sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma, the positive rate of VEGF was 82.9% (34/41). The over expression of VEGF was related with tumor invasion, histological grading and lymphatic metastasis (P < 0.05). The MVD of cases with positive VEGF expression was significantly higher than those without VEGF expression (P < 0.05), but was not statistical difference in MLVD (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSION
VEGF may participate in the metastasis of sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma through promoting vascularization in the tumors, but not promoting MLVD.
