To assess the effectiveness and safety ofinside-out (TVT-O) vs. outside-in transobturator-tape procedures (TOT) in the surgical management of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI).A total of 8 randomized controlled trials were retrieved from the literature and analyzed by metaanalysis with RevMan 5.0 software.Meta-analysis showed that no statistical differences existed in objective cure rate, objective failure, postoperative voiding dysfunction,groin/thigh pain and sling exposure in both procedures (P > 0.05).These preliminary results suggest there is no evidence of significant differences in the efficacy and safety between TVT-O and TOT.

Objective To explore the expression of miR-146a and its target gene LIN52 in advanced gastric cancer and their potential impact on clinical prognosis. Methods Total RNAs were extracted from 93gastric cancer tissues and their corresponding adjacent non-tumor tissues to quantify the relative expression of miR-146a by using real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR).Expression of LIN52 was detected in tumors and normal tissues by immunohistochemistry.Correlation analysis was assessed between the expression of miR-146a and LIN52 and clinicopathological parameters, including clinical diagnostic specificity, tumor TNM staging, lymph node metastasis, differentiation grade, curative effect and prognosis of gastric cancer. Results The expression of miR-146a in gastric carcinoma was negatively correlated with lymph node metastasis (P <0.05).The expression of miR-146a had a significant correlation with the prognosis of the patients (P < 0.01).The patients with high expression of miR-146a had higher survival rate (P < 0.05),but the patients with high expression of LIN52 had lower survival rate (P < 0.05).The receiver operating characteristic curve regression analysis showed that sensitivity and specificity of miR-146a were 94.1% and 61.5 % to diagnose gastric cancer. Conclusions As a tumor suppressor gene in gastric cancer,miR-146a has significantly negative correlation with LIN52.High expression of miR-146a in the gastric cancer tissue might be associated with improved treatment efficacy of chemotherapy, suggesting that miR-146a may be a molecular marker for the diagnosis and prognosis of gastric cancer.

Objective To assess the features of transcranial sonography (TCS) in Parkinson disease (PD) and Alzheimer disease (AD).Methods Totally 38 PD patients (PD group),28 AD patients (AD group) and 26 controls (control group)underwent TCS.The echogenicity of the substantia nigra, widths of third ventricle and parameters of middle cerebral artery among the three groups were analyzed. Results The ratio of hyperechogenicity of substantia nigra in PD group (31/38,81.58%) were higher than those in AD group (8/28,28.57%) and control group (3/26,11.54%;x2 =18.74,30.41,both P<0.001),and there was no significant difference in hyperechogenicity of substantia nigra between AD group and control group (x2 =2.41,P=0.120).The widths of third ventricle in AD group ([0.82±0.14]cm) were wider than those in PD group ([0.63±±0.16]cm) and control group ([0.56±0.16]cm,both P<0.001),and there was no significant difference in widths of third ventricle between PD group and control group (P=0.098).The mean velocities in bilateral middle cerebral artery in AD group were lower than that of in PD group and in control group (all P<0.05).The pulsatility index in right middle cerebral artery in AD group were greater than that in PD group and control group (both P<0.05).Conclusion According to the changes of echogenicity of substantia nigra, widths of third ventricle and parameters of middle cerebral artery,TCS may provide some useful information for diagnosis of PD and AD.

Objective To investigate the clinical effect and safety of miconazole nitrate 1200 mg in treating vulvovaginal candidiasis(VVC).Methods An open, multicentre, non case control clinical trial was conducted in 568 patients suffering from VVC from Jul 1,2006 to Nov 30,2006.Routine examination, score of clinical symptoms and physical signs, mycetology test and safety evaluation were done in all patients before treatment,7-14 days after treatment and 30 days after treatment. Results Seven to fourteen days after treatment,563 patients could be followed and 323 patients(57.30k)were cured. The overall effective rate was 90.2%.The mycologic cure rate was 91.3%(514).Thirty days after treatment,480 patients could be followed and 411 patients(85.6%)were cured. The total effective rate was 96.0%.Mycologic cure rate was 92.3%(443/480).Adverse effect rate was 2.7%(15/563)and they were relieved without any treatment in one or two days. Conclusions Miconazole nitrate 1200 mg is effective in the treatment of WC,with good compliance and few adverse effects. Moreover,it can be accepted easily.

Objective To investigate the effect of Zinc finger E-box binding homeobox protein 1 (ZEB1) on the radiosensitivity of gastric cancer cells AGS and its possible mechanism. Methods AGS cells were irradiated by X-rays at different doses (0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 Gy). Western blot was used to observe the expression of ZEB1 in cells. AGS cells, in logarithmic growth phase, were transfected with of ZEB1 gene or its interference plasmids, the corresponding control plasmids ( pcDNA3. 1 ) and negative control interference plasmids. They were classified as overexpression ZEB1 group, silencing ZEB1 group, control group and negative control group, respectively. The effect of overexpression and silencing ZEB1 on the survival of AGS cells after irradiation were analyzed by colony formation assay. The cell apoptosis rate was analyzed by flow cytometry. The expressions of histone H2A (H2AX), phosphorylated H2AX (γ-H2AX) and telangiectasia mutated gene (ATM) were detected by Western blot. Results The expression of ZEB1 in AGS cells was dependent on radiation dose (F=58. 57, P<0. 05). Overexpression of ZEB1 increased AGS cells viability, inhibitedγ-H2AX expression (t=12. 18, P<0. 05), blocked cell apoptosis (t=7. 27, P<0. 05) and up-regulated ATM expression in time-dependent manner after irradaition (F=165. 70, P <0. 05). Silencing ZEB1 reduced AGS cells viability, increased γ-H2AX expression ( t =12. 88, P<0. 05) and cell apoptosis (t =8. 36, P <0. 05), and down-regulated of ATM expression (F=44. 80, P<0. 05). Conclusions ZEB1 regulates the radiosensitivity of gastric cancer AGS cells by up-regulating ATM expression.
