Purpose: In order to explore the clinical effect in acupuncture treatment of vascular headache. Methods: 93 cases of vascular headache were randomly auocated into acupuncture group (n= 30), treated by puncturing Fengchi (GB 20), Ashi point and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) on the sick side, acupuncture plus needle-embedding group (n= 36), treated by basic acupuncture treatment plus needle-embedding method in Taiyang (Ex-HN 5) and Xuanzhong (GB 39) on the sick side, and control group (n = 27), treated with oral administration of 5 mg Sibelium,twice a day, for observation of the changes in the clinical symptoms before and after treatments in the patients of three groups. Results: After treatment, the clinical symptoms in the patients of three groups were relieved or disappeared. The recent therapeutic effect was better in acupuncture plus needle-embedding group than in the control group (P＜ 0.05), and there was no significant difference (P＞ 0.05) between the acupuncture plus needle-embedding group and acupuncture group and there was no significant difference (P ＞ 0.05) between acupuncture group and control group, either. The long-term therapeutic effect was better in the acupuncture plus needle-embedding group than in the control group (P＜ 0.01), in the acupuncture group than in the control group (P ＜ 0.05), and there was no significant difference between the acupuncture plus needle-embedding group and acupuncture group. Conclusion: Acupuncture treatment of vascular headache offers a better recent and long-term therapeutic effect, and acupuncture plus needle-embedding method is much better in the therapeutic effect.

BACKGROUND:Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1) plays an important role in cellgrowth, proliferation and differentiation. Insulin-like growth factor binding protein 3 (IGFBP-3), as the main binding protein of IGF1, is involved in the regulation of IGF1.
OBJECTIVE:To attempt to analyze the relation of IGFBP-3 and various diseases, and to explore the potential values of IGFBP-3 in disease diagnosis and risk assessment.
METHODDatabases of PubMed, Science Direct and Wanfang database were retrieved with key words of“insulin-like growth factors 1;IGFBP-3;cancer;growth hormone deficiency;diabetes;osteoporosis”in English and Chinese, respectively, by screening titles and abstracts to search papers related to IGFBP-3 structure and function as wel as relationship of IGFBP-3 with cancer, growth hormone deficiency, diabetes, osteoporosis. Final y, 43 articles were summarized according to inclusion criteria.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:In recent years, the relationship between gene of IGFBP-3 and risk of cancer is becoming a hot research topic. The results show that IGFBP-3 is a protective agent of cancer risk, and it is an important factor in evaluating the risk of cancer, exhibiting a potential application value. IGFBP-3 is also associated with growth hormone deficiency and diabetes. In addition, IGFBP-3 can assist IGF-1 to play the regulatory role in bone growth and differentiation, which is closely linked with osteoporosis. Therefore, IGFBP-3 can be a potential predictor for osteoporosis.

Objective: To observe the changes of the pulmonary ventilatory function during cardiac valve operation under cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB). Method: Thirty-four patients undergoing cardiac valve operation were selected. The pulmonary function was measured with side stream spirometer. Objective To evaluate the quality of Semen Cassiae from different habitats objectively. Methods To determine the content of chryso-phanic according to ChP and establish HPLC fingerprints with the gradient elution solvent composed of acetonitrile and 1% HAC. A C18 column (250 mm?4.6 mm, 5 ?m) was used, flow rate: 1 mL/min, detecting wavelength: 254 nm, and the column temperature: room temperature. The clustering analysis was carried out by SAS software according to the content of chrysophanic and similarity of HPLC fingerprints obtained by the software of similarity analysis. Results The established HPLC fingerprint has desirable precision, reproducibility, and stability. The content of chrysophanic and HPLC fingerprints of Semen Cassiae from various habitats are different, which differs from the habitats. The content range of chrysophanic in Semen Cassiae is 0.037%-0.170% and the similarity is 0.864-0.962. Conclusion The method indicates the difference of the chemical component in Semen Cassiae from various habitats and can be used as a quality control method for Semen Cassiae.

A method for determination of seleninm in foods by hydride generation -atomic absorption spectrometry was described. Food samples were digested by heating with a mixture of nitric, perchloric, and sulfuric acids. After addition of 4ml of 6mol/L HC1, the digests were heated in a boiling water bath to reduce selenate to selenite. The hydride of selenium was evolved by reduction with 1% KBH4 from a system of 2mol/L HC1-1% K3Fe(CN)6 and then atomized in a laboratory-constructed electrically heated silica absorption tube. Absolute detection limit of the method was 2ng and the linear range was from 0 to 10 ng/mlSe. Recoveries of inorganic selenium added to a variety of foods ranged from 83% to 112%. Accuracies checked with standard materials of pig liver and brassica oleraca were within the certified values. The loss and pollution of selenium during the sample pretreatment were also studied.

Objective To approach the neurobiochemical mechanism of chronic central pain (CCP) after spinal cord injury (SCI). Methods 28 SD rats were divided into four groups, the normal group (group A), the pseudosurgery group (group B), and groups with CCP (group C) and without CCP (group D) after L1 spinal cord section injured with WADE method. T13 and L2 segments of rats' spinal cord were took and concentration changes of substance P (SP) in the spinal dorsal horn between two sections were examined by immunofluorescence histochemistry staining combined with confocal laser scanning microscope. Results Concentration of SP in the group D was decreased significantly compared with groups C,A and B (P<0.05-0.01), that of the group C was less than that of group A and B (P<0.05). Conclusion The rat model established by WADE method is proper to study CCP after SCI. SP in dorsal horn of spinal cord may inhibit the CCP after SCI in some degrees.

BACKGROUND:Hematopoietic reconstruction of malignant tumor in hematopoietic system is related to disease itself,pretreatment program and therapeutic tool after transplantation;especially,mobilization.collection and cryopreservation of auto-peripheral blood stem cell play a key role in successful reconstruction of hematopoietic system after transplantation.OBJECTIVE:To investigate the reconstruction of hematopoietic system through mobilization, collection and cryopreservation of auto-peripheral blood stem cell in patients with malignant tumor and analyze the effective factors on quantity and quality of auto-peripheral blood stem cell.DESIGN:Case analysis based on malignant tumor in hematopoietic system.SETTING:Department of Blood,Guangzhou General Hospital of Guangzhou Military Area Command of Chinese PLA;Department of Blood,Zhujiang Hospital,Nanfang Medical University.PARTICIPANTS:A total of 18 patients with malignant tumor in hematopoietic system were selected from Department of Blood,Guangzhou General Hospital of Guangzhou Military Area Command of Chinese PLA.Their ages ranged from 1 6to 56 years.Among them,2 patients had acute myelogenous leukemia(AML),1 acute lymphoblastic Ieukemia(ALL),2 lymphoblastic Ieukemia (LL),2 chronic granulocytic leukemia(CGL),4 multiple myeloma(MM),and 7 non.Hodgkin lymphoma.Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF)was made by Chugai Pharmaceutical Company Limited (batch number:N3G31).METHODS:①All patients were mobilized with associated chemotherapy+G-CSF.Associate chemotherapy:Patients with leukemia were given 2 g/m2 arabinosyl cytosine every 12 hours from lhe first to the third days and 200 mg/m2 etoposide or 50 mg/m2 fludarabine from the first to the fifth days. In addition patients with MM were treated with arabinosyl cytosine as the same way mentioned above and with 1 g/m2 cyclophosphamide from the first to the second days. And patients with lymphoma were given 2 g/m2 cyclophosphamide from the first to the second days. When numbers of leucocyte of all patients decreased below 1.0×109L-1 after chemotherapy.G-CSF started mobilization and the collection was stopped with 5μg/(kg·d)subcutaneous injection.②When numbers of leucocyte increased to (4.0-10.0)×109 L-1,hemopoietic stem cells of peripheral blood were collected till the amount of mononuclear cells≥4.0×108/kq or numbers of CD34+ cells≥2.0×108/kg.And then,the samples were dealt with cooling device.maintained in liquid nitrogen at-196℃ and defrosted in water bath at 37-40℃.③Focal sites of patients were pretreated with local irradiation with 200 cGy/time and 5 times/week for 4 successive weeks.The total dosage was 40 Gy.At 48 hours later,(55.3±28.7)mL hemopoietic stem cells of peripheral blood were transfused back. And the duration from transfusion to collection was about(56.5±22.3)days.300 μg/d G-CSF was subcutaneously injected into all patients at 1 day after transplantation and the reaction was stopped at the phase of neutrophil≥0.5×109L-1. Finally. Refusing-staining rate of trypan blue of peripheral blood stem cell, amount of mononuclear cells, number of granulation-monophyly progenitor cell colony and percentage of CD34+ cells were detected before and after thaw.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:①Collection of auto-peripheral blood stem cell;②survival rate and related markers of auto-peripheral blood stem cell after cryopreservation;③hematopoietic reconstruction of auto-peripheral blood stem cell after transplantation.RESULTS:All 18 patients with malignant tumor in hematopoietic system were involved in the final analysis.The mean collection time of auto-peripheral blood stern cell was 12.6 days after chemotherapy.the collection times were 1.9.total number of leucocyte was(8.93±1.27)×1 0.L-1 on the first day,and collection rate of mononuclear cell was (138.33±28.61)%. ②Refusing-staining rate of trypan blue of auto-peripheral blood stem cell was similar before and after cryopreservation[(96.26±1.33)%, (92.75±2.04)%,P＞0.05].in addition,after cryopreservation,recovery rates of mononuclear cells,CD34+ cells and granulation-monophyly progenitor cell were(91.96±1.37)%, (85.94±0.64)%and (87.69±4.53)%,respectively.Collection rate of mononuclear cells,number of granulation-monophyly progenitor cell colony and percentage of CD34+ cells were lower in patients with myeloma than in those with leukemia and lymphoma (t=2.524-3.268.P＜0.05).③At 15 days after transplantation,15 patients had the neutrophil≥0.5× 109L-1;at 20 days after transplantation,blood platelet was≥20 × 100 L-1.granulation-monophyly progenitor cells[(18.67-26.82)× 105/kg] of 5 patients grew poorly if the course of chemotherapy was more than 10 times.Among them,3 patients had delayed hematopoietic reconstruction after transplantation of auto-peripheral blood stem cell.CONCLUSION:①High-dose chemotherapy combined with G-CSF can shorten collection time of peripheral blood stem cell and improve collection rate of mononuclear cells.②Increase of chemotherapy times before transplantation can affect quantity and quality of auto-peripheral blood stem cell and cause delayed hematopoietic reconstruction.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the reliability of magnetic-activated cell sorting (MACS) combined with multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) in the detection of the molecular cytogenetic abnormalities in multiple myeloma.

METHODSThe bone marrow cells were collected from 29 patients with multiple myeloma. The immuno magnetically sorted and unsorted cells were detected for TP53 and RB1 expressions using MLPA probes and the results were compared with fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH).

RESULTSThe detection success rate was 100% for MLPA, which yielded results with an concordance rate of 99.1% with the FISH results. The positivity rates of MLPA and FISH were both increased after immunomagnetic sorting of the bone marrow cells.

CONCLUSIONMLPA can well suit the clinical needs for detecting molecular cytogenetic abnormalities in multiple myeloma, and the samples should be immuno magnetically sorted before the assay.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the changes and clinical significance of saliva urea, creatinine (Cr), uric acid (UA) in both healthy people and chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients, and to provide a noninvasive, quick, accurate and reliable test to diagnose kindey disease. METHODS: Urea, Cr and UA in the saliva and serum collected from both healthy people and the CKD patients were measured by biochemical analyzer. We calculated the correlation coefficient of Urea, Cr and UA between the saliva and serum, compared the levels of saliva Urea, Cr and UA among CKD patients in different periods, drew the receiver operation characteristic (ROC) curve and analyzed the sensitivity and specificity of saliva Urea, Cr and UA to predict CKD patients in various periods. RESULTS: The concentrations of Urea, Cr and UA in both the saliva and the serum were positively correlated in healthy individuals and CKD patients (r = 0.918, 0.932, 0.840 and 0.984, 0.971, 0.920). The levels of saliva Urea, Cr and UA in the CKD patients were significantly higher than those of healthy people (P<0.05). Saliva Urea, Cr and UA concentrations of middle and late stage CKD patients were obviously higher than those of healthy people and early stage CKD patients (P<0.05). Areas under the curve (AUC) of the ROC of Urea, Cr and UA to diagnose diverse periods of CKD were 0.898, 0.897 and 0.848. The sensitivity was 0.806, 0.776 and 0.704; and the specificity was 0.968, 0.989 and 0.871. CONCLUSION The levels of Urea, Cr and UA between the saliva and the serum are closely related. The concentration of saliva Urea, Cr and UA can reflect the renal damage, monitor kidney function of the CKD patients, and help diagnose middle to late stage CKD patients. It is a simple, nonivasive and quick method.
