Objective To investigate the clinical values of the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and S-100 in the ossified mass of the cervical posterior longitudinal ligament.Methods The 22 pieces of ossified mass specimens of the cervical posterior longitudinal ligament were obtained from 22 patients with ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament(OPLL) by anterior decompression approach in the cervical spine.Of the 22 specimens,3 specimens were obtained from the patients after laminoplasty.As controls,5 specimens of the cervical posterior longitudinal ligament were obtained from 5 fresh corpses below 25 years old by anterior approach.All the specimens were stained with HE and immunohistochemically stained with the monoclone antibody against the PCNA and the monoclone antibody against the S-100 protein antigen. Results The PCNA and S-100 were overexpressed in the ossifing matrices and chondrocytes of adjacent cartilaginous areas of ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament.There was no expression of PCNA and S-100 in the controlled specimens.Conclusion The ossified mass of the cervical posterior longitudinal ligament has a character of continuous proliferation and ossification.The proliferating fibrocartilaginous areas before the ossified mass is an important pathogenetic factor of cervical myelopthy recurrence after laminoplasty.

Objective: To study the effect of Baihuzhuifeng Pills (BHZFP) on interleukin 1?(IL 1?) secreted by synoviocytes in adjuvant arthritis (AA) rats. Methods: Synovium of knee joints from AA rats were digested by collagenase and tripsin to prepare DSSC(digested synovial single cells). The content of the supernatant fluid was assayed by the radioimmunoassay. Results: BHZFP down regulated IL 1? productions of DSSC.Conclusion: It is suggested that BHZFP be probably inhibit the over proliferation of synoviocyte in AA rats by diminishing IL 1? secretion.

Objective To study a rapid method for determination of trace formaldehyde in drinking water by oscilloscopic polarography.Methods In the base solution of0.01mol/L H 3 PO 4 ,the reaction product of formaldehyde and phenylhydrazine hydrochloride on the drop mercury electrode revealed a sensitive second order derivative polarographic wave at a pick electric potential-0.76V(VS?SCE).The optimum conditions and interference by other coexisting ions were analyzed.Results The de-tection limit,linear range,recovery rate,relative standard deviation(RSD)of the method were0.002mg /L,0.005-0.25mg /L,94.0%-103.0%,and0.05).Conclusion The method was simple,rapid,sensitive and highly specific.The analytical speed was about 50-60samples /h,which was suitable for the determination of trace formaldehyde in drinking water.

Objective: To investigate the role of endogenous nitric oxide (NO) in the pulmonary edema caused by overinfusion of colloid. Method: Forty healthy rabbits were randomly allocated into (Ⅰ) control group, (Ⅱ) infusion control group: one fold total blood volume of Gelofusine was infused at 2ml?kg~(-1)?min~(-1)(Ⅲ)L-NNA group:LNNA 20 mg/kg was intravenously injected before infusion, (Ⅳ)L-Arg+L-NNA group:L-arginine 300mg/kg and LNNA 20 mg/kg was intravenously injected before infusion. MAP,HR and CVP were recorded during the experiment, arterial blood gas analysis was examined before and after infusion,serumal NO value and lung water content were measured at the end of the experiment. Result: Overinfusion of colloid,L-NNA,an inhibitor of NO synthesis increased the extravascular lung water (EVLW) content and decreased NO value,meanwhile CVP increased,HR,PaO_2 and SaO_2 decreased,excess dose of L-arginine completely reversed the effect of L-NNA. Serumal NO value was negatively correlated with EVLW content (r=-0.94). EVLW content was significantly correlated with total lung water (r=0.41). Conclusion:Endogenous NO can reduce the pulmonary edema caused by overinfusion of colloid.

Objective To study the expression of elastic fibers,Collagen type Ⅳ and CD44v6 in the metastasis of the pulmonary adenocarcinoma.Methods In paraffin-embedded specimens from 56 cases of pulmonary adenocarcinoma,the elastic fibers were stained with histochemical method and the expressions of collagen type Ⅳ and CD44v6 were detected with immunohistochemical method.Results The positive expression rates of elastic fibers,collagen type Ⅳ and CD44v6 were 11.5%(3/26),11.5%(3/26) and 80.8%(21/26)in the group with lymph node metastasis,and were 69.0%(20/29),55.2%(16/29) and 24.1%(7/29) in the group without lymph node metastasis,respectively.The expression of elastic fibers,collagen type Ⅳ and CD44v6 were significant difference in the two groups with and without lymph node metastasis(P=0.000).There was statistically significant correlation among elastic fibers,collagen type Ⅳ,CD44v6 and lymph node metastasis(all P

Objective To compare clinical outcomes of percutaneous endoscopic lumber discectomy ( PELD ) versus minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion ( Mis-TLIF ) under the Quadrant system in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation. Methods From January 2010 to December 2013, 60 patients with lumbar disc herniation and failed to conservative treatment were enrolled in this study.According to the random number table, the patients were divided into two groups, with 30 patients in each group.There were no significant differences in age, gender, segment of disease, clinical diagnosis, and imaging results between the two groups (P >0.05).The surgery of PELD under the TESSYS endoscopic system or Mis-TLIF under the Quadrant system was performed by a same surgical team.Follow-up was conducted for 12-24 months (mean, 16.2 months).The operation time, blood loss, hospital stay, visual analogue scores (VAS) for back and leg pain, Oswestry disability index (ODI), Japanese Orthopaedic Association ( JOA ) scores, MacNab criteria, and complications were compared between the two groups. Results As compared with the Mis-TLIF group, the PELD group had significantly shorter operation time [(72.0 ±18.7) min vs. (137.0 ±48.3) min, t=-6.857, P=0.000], less intraoperative blood loss [(28.0 ±14.7) ml vs.(314.0 ±13.6) ml, t=-11.831, P=0.000], and shorter hospitalization stay [(4.0 ±1.0) d vs.(10.0 ±3.0) d, t=-9.298, P=0.000].The scores of VAS of back and leg pain at 2 weeks and 3 months postoperation in the PELD group was lower than the Mis-TLIF group (P<0.05). The scores of ODI and JOA at 3 and 12 months postoperation in the PELD group were superior to the Mis-TLIF group (P<0.05).No significant difference was recorded in the MacNab criteria at 12 months postoperation between the two groups (P>0.05).There wasno significant difference in complication rate between the two groups. Conclusions Both PELD and Mis-TLIF are safe and effective for lumbar disc herniation.PELD has smaller incision, shorter operation time, and less blood loss as compared with Mis-TLIF.

For the high cost and mobility issues, a home uterine contraction pressure monitoring system based on Windows CE platform was developed. In this paper, the design of hardware circuit, micro-controller system and LabVIEW program based on Windows CE are discussed. The clinical validation experiment in hospital for this system was made and the experimental results show that this system complies with the trend that current medical equipment is becoming portable, homely and networked. Through real-time monitoring uterine contraction pressure, occurrence of premature birth and abortion can be prevented effectively.

Objective To explore the changes of cardiac structure and funetion in the patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods Thirty T2DM patients were included in the study,color Doppler echocardiography was performed in all of the cases,to compare and analyze the results of cardiac structure and function.Results IVS,LVPW,LAD,LVM of T2DM group were significantly larger than those in healthy group(P＜0.05,P＜0.01).T2DM group of LVEF and E/A ratio were significantly lower than those of normal group(P＜0.05).BMI,FBG,TG were positive correlation with IVS,LVPW,LVM and negative correlation with LVEF,E/A.Conclusion The patients of T2DM can lead to change of cardiac structure and function which dependent with BMI and glucose degree.

BACKGROUND: Ribavirin is easily diluted by lacrimal fluid and has low bioavailability. In situ ophthalmic gel changes from liquid drug to gel phase upon exposure to physiological conditions, resulting in an increase in the precorneal residence time of drugs. OBJECTIVE: To prepare ribavirin in situ ophthalmic gel and valuate its theological feature. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: In vitro controlled observation, performed at the Engineering Research Center of Modem Chinese Medicine Discovery and Preparation Technique, Ministry of Education, Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine between September and October 2006. MATERIALS: Sodium alginate, Carbopol, and ribavirin. METHODS: Sodium alginate (1% and 2%) and Carbopol (0.3%, 0.6%, and 2%) were combined at different proportions to prepare in sire ophthalmic gel, then in which ribavirin was added. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Viscosity determinations of prepared different concentrations of formulations were determined using a cone and plate viscometer. RESULTS: Ribavirin in situ ophthalmic gel prepared with 1% sodium alginate and 0.6% Carbopol had the largest viscosity. The viscosity change was not influenced by the addition of ribavirin. The in situ ophthalmic gel prepared with sodium alginate and Carbopol changed to the gel phase upon exposure to lacrimal fluid. CONCLUSION: 1% sodium alginate and 0.6% Carbopol produced the best rheological feature and could prolonge the precorneal residence time of drug than that of conventional ophthalmic solution.

Objective To determine the renal function compromised in patients after ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) with left ventricular aneurysms (LVA) by measurement of serum cystatin C (Cy-C) concentrations and Cy-C-based eGFR.Methods A total of 355 patients admitted from January 2011 to December 2012 could be categorized into group A (STEMI without LVA,n =183) and group B (STEMI with LVA,n =172) confirmed by echocardiography in 24 hour after admission.Of them,273 patients were treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) after admission and included in the analysis.Cy-C-based estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and creatinine (Cr)-based eGFR were calculated for evaluating cardiac function in tern to assess the magnitude of compromised renal function.The correlation between magnitude of compromised renal function and in-hospital mortality was analyzed.Distributions of categorical variables were compared using the chi-square test.Continuous variables were compared by one-way ANOVA with the Bonferroni test.Results The in-hospital mortality rate of whole patient cohort was 14.0％.Mortality in the group B was 18.6％ and in the group A was 9.8％ (P ＜ 0.01).With multivariable regression analysis,the compromised renal function was found when the Cr-based eGFR was ＜60 mL/ (min · 1.73 m2) or Cy-C-based eGFR was ＜ 60 mL/min/1.73m2 which were independently associated with in-hospital mortality (OR 0.13,95％ CI 0.02-0.7,P =0.02 ; OR 0.01,95％CI 0.003-0.05,P ＜ 0.01).Compared with the acute myocardium infarction (AMI) patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 2,the Cy-C based eGFR was greater in the AMI patients with LVA group (P ＜ 0.05),and compared with AMI with CKD stages 3 or CKD 3-5,this difference was also significant (P ＜ 0.01).Conclusions Renal dysfunction was an independent predictor of in-hospital mortality in patients with STEMI,especially in patients with LVA.Cy-C and Cy-C based eGFR were more sensitive to judge renal dysfunction in STEMI patients with LVA.
