1.The effect of Salviae miltiorrhizae on cardiac pump function of rabbits during hemorrhagic shock
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(04):-
This paper reports the effect of salviae miltiorrhizae composition on cardiae pupm function of rabbits during hemorrhagic shock. Two groups of rabbits were narcotized with 1% procain and blood was drawn out from femonal artery and the artery blood pressure was kept at 40-50 mmHg for 90 minutes. (1) The treated group: The rabbits were kept in low blood pressure for 90 minutes and then, they were transfused into the femoral vein 5% glucose and normal saline 15ml/kg in which was added salviae miltiorrhizae composita 2ml/kg. At the same time, the drawn blood was transfused into vein. The time was kept for 30 minutes. ABP, CVP, HR, and CO were measured before shock, during shock, after transfusion O rain, 30 min, 60 min, and 120 min, and SV, CI, LVSW and TPR were taken respectively. (2) Con- trol group, Contained no salviae miltiorrhizae composita in the transfusion. The results demonstrated that the salviae milttorrhizo composita can increase ABP, SV, LVSW, and decrease TPR of animals during shock, but the effective time was short. The mechanism may be a redistribution of blood flow in body, dilate coronary artery, increase speed of blood flow in capillary of myocardium, enhance infusion in local myocardial and improve blood supply, so it can improve pump function of rabbit heart during hemorrhagic shock.

Objective To provide anatomical basis for endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal surgery for excision of sellar tumors. Methods The relationship between ostia of sphenoidal sinus and sellar areas of 25 heads of adult cadavers, and the structure of pituitary fossa and the relationship of the anterior-posterior clinoid processes of 21 heads of adult cadavers were observed and measured. At the same time, structure of 9 fresh heads of adult cadavers were observed with the operating endoscope. Results The distance between the ostia of the sphenoidal sinus to the tuberculum sellae, internal carotid artery, optic nerve and dorsum sellae were 14.6?3.0mm, 13.7?2.2mm, 11.6?1.8mm, and 22.6?3.2mm, respectively. The sagittal diameter of the pituitary fossa was 10.2?1.5mm. The transverse diameter of the pituitary fossa was 1.4?2.4mm. The distance between two anterior clinoid processes was 25.0?3.0mm. The distance between two posterior clinoid processes was 15.8?3.3mm. The distance between anterior clinoid process and ipsilateral posterior clinoid process was 7.8?1.7mm. The distance between anterior clinoid process to contralateral posterior clinoid process was 21.8?2.4mm. Conclusion These results would provide the surgeons a stereoscopic image about sellar areas, so that the operative field could be accurately defined in endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal surgery for the excision of sellar tumors.

Objective:To investigate the expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1?(HIF-1?) in HepG2 cells cultured under hypoxia for different time periods, and to assess its relationship with vascularization and cell apoptosis. Methods: HepG2 cells were cultured in a medium containing cobalt chloride (125 ?mol/L) for different time periods ( 0, 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8 hours ).RT-PCR was used to measure the expression of HIF-1? mRNA,VEGF mRNA,and bcl-2 mRNA, and bax mRNA at the above time points; Western blot was used to determine the expression of Caspase-3 protein and the activity of Caspase-3 enzyme. Results: After 1-2 hour culture under hypoxia, the expression of HIF-1? mRNA,VEGF mRNA,and bcl-2 mRNA began to increase gradually, peaked at 4 h, and then decreased, but were still higher than that before culture. There was no obvious change in the expression of bax mRNA and the ratio of bcl-2 to bax mRNA expression had a similar change with that of bcl-2 mRNA expression. The changes of Caspase-3 protein/mRNA and Caspase-3 enzyme activity were contrary to that of HIF-1?. Conclusion: HIF-1? may inhibit the apoptosis of hepatic cancer cells through regulating the expression of VEGF, bcl-2, bax, and Caspase-3, and the inhibition is related to the severity of hypoxia.

Objective To investigate the effect of ionization to the expression of HIF-1α and p53 of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in anoxia condition. Method Nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line CNE-1 was divided into three groups, control group, radiation group, and hypoxia plus radiation group. The cell viability was analyzed by MTT method, Immunofluorescent technique was performed to de-termine the expression location of HIF-1α in CNE-1. And the expression of HIF-1α and P53 protein were measured with flow cytometry. Re-sults The results of MTr detection showed that the survival fraction of the control group was the highest. The minimum survival fraction was found in the radiation group (P<0.05). There was no HIF-1αprotein expression in cytoplasm except the radiation plus hypoxia group. With the flow cytometer technique, the expression of HIF-1αprotein in the radiation plus hypoxia group was higher than that in the radiation group. No statistical significance was found between the radiation group and the control group. When detecting the expression of P53 protein with the same technique, the expression of P53 was highest in the hypoxia plus radiation group and lowest in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The expression of HIF-1α inducted by Hypoxia can prevent NPC cell from the damages of radiation. The HIF-1α decreases the radiosensitivlty through inducing p53 expression in NPC CNE-1 cell line.
