Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2002;22(1):82-3
To assess the pharyngeal presentations and the diagnostic value of thyroid SPECT and thyroid fine needle aspiratory biopsy (FNAB) in subacute thyroiditis (SAT) as seen initially in ENT department, 30 patients, during the course of SAT, were examined for pharyngeal symptoms and tested for serum T3, T4 level. The thyroid SPECT imaging or thyroid FNAB were performed. Our results showed that, of the 30 patients, 21 had sore throat of various degrees, and 9 had abnormal sensation of throat. Six were diagnosed as having SAT by only SPECT, in the remaining 24, the final diagnoses was established by SPECT combined with FNAB. Two of them were finally diagnosed as having SAT by trial treatment with oral prednisone. It is concluded that sore throat and abnormal sensation of pharynx are the important presentations of SAT, and thyroid SPECT imaging and thyroid FNAB are valuable in diagnosing SAT.

4.A comparative study on the close reduction of arytenoid dislocation under indirect and direct laryngoscope.
Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2002;22(4):375-7
To assess the curative effects of different reduction techniques on the dislocation of cricoarytenoid joint caused by intubation, indirect laryngoscope (IL) and direct laryngoscope (DL) were utilized for the closed reduction of the displaced arytenoid under local anesthesia. 23 patients who underwent the reduction for dislocated arytenoid under IL or DL from January 1991 to June 2001 were reviewed. The data were collected on the duration of the laryngeal injury, times of receiving reduction, side-effects after the treatment and the period for voice to return to normal. The relationship between the duration of the laryngeal lesion and the period of the voice rehabilitation was examined. 13 patients received the reduction under IL and 10 patients under DL. Except the times of the reduction, which showed significant difference, no differences were found between IL group and DL group in the course and the period of voice rehabilitation, as well as sore throat after the manipulation. The patients' voice recovery was positively related to their course of disease in both IL and DL group. It is concluded that the recovery of normal voice is obviously affected by the duration of arytenoid dislocation. The reduction under IL is as effective as under DL in the treatment of arytenoid dislocation. Reduction by DL is better suit the patients with long time course of disease.

5.Effect of dexamethasone on posttonsillectomy pain
Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2009;(20):936-938
Objective:To assess the effect of a course of intravenous dexamethasone on pain after tonsillectomy.Method:Sixty patients who underwent tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy and tonsillectomy were randomly divided into experimental group and control group. Postoperatively, 30 patients in experimental group received anti-inflammatory drug and dexamethasone for 4 days, and the other 30 patients in control group received anti-inflammatory drug and placebo. Degree of postoperative pain was measured with visual analogue scale in the patients more than 12 year old and with Wong-Baker faces pain scale in the patients less than or equal to 12 year old. The measurement was made twice daily for 5 days.Result:During the postoperative period, the scale value was decreasing every day in the all patients. But the value in experimental group was less than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion:Dexamethasone given in this regime reduces postoperative pain and odynophagia after tonsillectomy.

Orthopedic Journal of China 2006;0(03):-
[Objective]To develop a mini-pressure-sensor(MPS)for measurement of plantar pressure(PP)and to evaluate its clinical application.[Method]The MPS was installed in the shoes, and computer was used to accumulate and analyze the change of PP in whole walking stage.Pathologic changes of PP in clinical patients were also analyzed by MPS.[Result]In normal walking, the PP of forefoot was 49% of body weight(BW)and of midfoot and heel was totally 51% of BW,but at pathologic state, the equilibrium of walking was dynamically disrapted inducing a pathologic changes of foot bearing.[Conclusion]Self-developed MPS for measuring PP is help for dynamic analysis of normal PP and is valuable to recognize the pathologic distribution of PP in pathological state and to provide a guide for treatment.

Objective:To investigate the difference in expression of FasL and ICAM-1 in the tonsillar HEV associated with IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and recurrent tonsillitis (RT).Methods:Human tonsils were obtained from the patients with RT (n=18) or IgAN (n=12).HE staining was used to show the morophometry of the tonsillar HEV.CD20+,CD3+ lymphocytes and distribution of FasL and ICAM-1 in the HEV were observed with immunohistochemical stained tissue section. The quantitatively experimental data from pathological image analysis were compared between IgAN and RT group.Results:(1)The expressing intensity of ICAM-1 was (0.435 5?0.002) in IgAN group and (0.239 5?0.010 4) in RT group, respectively (P0.05).Conclusion:A significant increase in the number of tonsillar HEV and increased lymphocytes in HEVs may indicate the abnormalities in peripheral blood in the patients with IgAN,thus leading to an overactivation of the tonsillar HEVs that induce Fas-dependent apoptosis in such patients.A stronger biological effective adhesion molecule promotes the transendothelial migration of lymphocytes across HEVs of palatine tonsil, which appears to be connected with the development of IgAN.

Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(01):-
AIM: To investigate the mechanism by which TA9902 inhibits the formation of amyloid ?-peptide (A?) fibrils. METHODS: Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy was used to study the secondary structure changes on aging A? in vitro. RESULTS: The content of ?-pleated sheet were 46.53% in the condition of A? aged alone for 30 min. When A? aged alone for 72 h, the content of ?-pleated sheet increased about 19.4% and produced a shift of random coil toward ?-pleated sheet. TA9902 induced a significant decrease in the content of ?-pleated sheet (36.09%). CONCLUSION: TA9902 effectively diminishes the ?-pleated structural content. The effect of TA9902 on the secondary structure of aged A? is associated with inhibition of A? aggregation and fibril formation.
