Chinese Journal of Primary Medicine and Pharmacy 2008;15(4):632-633
Objective To investigate the high frequency ultrasonic wave features of mucocele of the appendix, and to improve the diagnostic ability of the disease. Methods All 7 patients with mucocele of the appendix were confirmed by pathology and surgery. High frequency ultrasonic wave findings were analyzed retrospectively. Resuits The high frequency wltrasonic wave demonstrated a mass of low attenuation in the right lower quadrant in all 7 cases. The masses were either spherical( n = 2) or elongated ( n = 5) in shape. Two masses had mural calcification, and 4 had mural enhancement after contrast enhancement. The mueocele inside full liquid was a homogeneous cystic mass in 3 cases, cystic mass with internal septations in 1 case, and cystic mass with peripheral solid tissue in 1 case. Conclusion The high frequency ultrasonic wave scan is a useful method in differential diagnosis mucocele of the appendix.

Journal of Practical Stomatology 1995;0(04):-
Objective: To explore levels of salivary IgA, lysozyme, lactate dehydrogenase, alkaline phosphatase and total proteins in unstimulated (UWS) and stimulated (SWS) whole saliva of caries-free children. Methods: 94 caries-free children, aged from 42 to 54 months, were recruited from urban kindergartens in Beijing. 2 ml UWS and 2 ml SWS were collected from each child to measure salivary IgA, lysozyme, lactate dehydrogenase, alkaline phosphatase and total proteins. Results:1) There were no differences in salivary proteins between boys and girls in both UWS and SWS, except total proteins. In UWS, the concentration of total proteins in girls was lower than that in boys (P0.05). 2) The concentration of IgA in SWS was significantly lower than that in UWS (P0.05). Conclusion:In 3-to 4-year old children, the protein composition in stimulated whole saliva is different from that in unstimulated whole saliva, and it is also different between genders. Therefore, it is more reliable to measure salivary proteins in both UWS and SWS when studying saliva of children.

Objective To evaluate left ventricular systolic synchronicity in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy by V-plane imaging and compare with clinical commonly used tissue Doppler imaging (TDI),evaluate the relevance and consistency between these two parameters. Methods 20 patients diagnosed with DCM and 20 healthy controls were enrolled,2D images,V-plane imaging and TDI waveform were acquired.Time to peak velocity of left ventricular 12 segments were measured by TDI and the standard deviation (TDI_SD) were calculated.Displacement time to peak were measured by V-plane and the standard deviation (V-plane_SD) were calculated. Results Compared with control group,TDI_SD and V-plane_SD increased significantly (P < 0.01),TDI time to peak increased and V-plane time to peak decreased significantly(P <0.01).In the two group,12 segment time to peak measured by V-plane were significantly higher than TDI(P < 0.01).There was a significant correlation between TDI_SD and V-plane_SD (r =0.925,P <0.001).Bland-Altman plot showed that 95% plots of ratio of TDI_SD and V-plane_SD were among limits of agreement, which was (0.50,1.36).Conclusions Left ventricular systolic synchronicity in DCM patients can be observed by V-plane imaging.V-plane has significant relevance and consistency with TDI,and can overcome the limitations of TDI that 12 segments can not be displayed in the same cardiac cycle.

OBJECTIVEDiscussion on utility and purposed value of obesity and abdomen obesity when body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist to hip ratio (WHR) used as indexes predicting hypertension, hyper-blood glucose, and both clusters, to provide scientific basis for the decision on the indexes and their cut-off points of obesity and abdomen obesity in Chinese people.
METHODSUsing the data of diabetes mellitus (DM) from epidemiological studies carried out in 11 provinces/autonomous regions/municipalities of China from July 1995 to June 1997. Partial relative analysis, logistic multi-factors regression analysis, interaction analysis were used. Relative risk (RR), attributable risk proportion (ARP) and population attributable risk proportion (PARP) of hypertension, hyper-blood glucose, and the both cluster as BMI, WC, WHR with the different cut off points were analysed.
RESULTS1) The correlations between BMI, WC and blood pressure, blood glucose were better than the WHR. 2) After adjusted by age, sex, occupation leisure physical activity, education degree and the family history of DM, the results suggested that BMI, WC, WHR were important predictive factors, with relative importance as BMI > WC > WHR. 3) There were augment interactions on BMI, WC and WHR with hypertension, hyper-blood glucose, with the interaction of BMI and WC in particular. Their pure attributable interaction proportion were from 5.95% to 29.34%. 4) The values of RR were about 2.5 when BMI >/= 23, >/= 24 and >/= 25, suggesting the relationship with exposure factors and diseases were with medium and high maleficent extent. Their ARP were from 0.580 to 0.623 with PARP from 0.259 to 0.425. The values of RR were from 2.06 to 3.08 as WC >/= 85 cm in males, WC >/= 80 cm in females while WC >/= 90 cm in males, WC >/= 80 cm in females, which suggested that the relationship with exposure factors and diseases were in medium and high maleficent extent. Their ARP were from 0.515 to 0.676 while PARP from 0.241 to 0.431.
CONCLUSIONSSince the maleficent extent of exposure factors to diseases, the acceptability for overweight and obesity in population, and the prevention and care for overweight and obesity were just in the introduction stage in China. The utility value of predicted hypertension, hyper-blood glucose in BMI and WC seemed to be better then in WHR. We suggested that BMI used as the obesity index, with the diagnostic cut-off point BMI >/= 24. WC as the abdomen obesity index. The diagnostic cut-off points are suggested to be WC >/= 85 cm in males, and WC >/= 80 cm in females.
