To explore the effect of Fu Zheng Hua Yu Fang and its ingredient (s ) on collagen production we cultured the astrocytes isolated from the dimethyl nitorsamine -induced rat fibrosis model in serum with the extract of the completeprescription and its ingredient (s) and observed their effect in treating the model rats. The ingredients included those for strengthening the body resistance, those for removing stasis, that of Cordyceps, that of Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae and that of Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae plus Cordyceps. The results showed that though inhibition of proliferation and activation of the astrocytes was found in all the groups, the effect of the extract of drugs for removing stasis was the strongest. Similarly, inhibition of production of collagen type I and expression of its mRNA was found in all the groups while the effect of drugs for strengthening the body resistance was the strongest. In treating the model rats, the complete prescription was the strongest in reducing the collagen deposition and hyproxyproline content. Combination of drugs for removing stasis with those for strengthening body resistance could further reduce the formation of collagen. The prescription proved to be a comprehensive one in inhibiting collagen production.

Objective To establish a rabbit model of lumbar laminectomy and bone grains replantation and provide experimental evidence for the clinical application. Methods Eighteen healthy male New Zealand rabbits were selected and randomly divided into two groups:the control group (n=6) and experimental group (n=12).The rabbits of control group were given general anesthesia, and taking the L5 spinous process as the center to perfom left L5 laminectomy, using a micro lancet forceps to slowly bite the lamina and ligamentum flavum for fenestration and exposed to an approximately 0.8 cm x 0.3 cm sized bone window and then sutured the skin. The rabbits of experimental group were exposed to an approximately 0.8 x 0.3 cm sized bone window as well, and bone fragments were cut into small grains. Then the small bone grains were embedded in medical collagen sponge, to form an arch shape, and replanted them to the site of epidural fenestration.CT scan and histological changes were observed at 4, 8 and 12 weeks after operation. Results At 8 weeks after operation, CT examination showed that in the experimental group, a thin bone plate was formed by the bone grains. At 12 weeks after operation, the bone plate became thicker and was connected with the vertebral bone, and with continuous bone trabeculae. The spinal canal and volume were not obviously changed, and no spinal cord compression was observed. The rabbits of control group showed segment lamina defects, a small scar protruding into the spinal canal, and the vertebral canal was not completely reconstructed. Conclusions The bone grains replantation can effectively promote bone reconstruction in the laminectomized rabbits, and the formed bone plate can prevent epidural scar from intruding into the spinal canal, and can reduce the postlaminectomy adhesion.

Objective To develop a sensitive and simple LC/MS method for determination of methomyl in blood samples. Methods Methomyl was extracted from blood by liquid-liquid extraction with ethyl acetate, and then analyzed on a Zorbax SB-C18 (2.1mm×50mm, 5μm) column. The mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile-0.1% formic acid with gradient elution, at a lfow rate of 0.5 mL/min, at 40℃. LC-MS was performed in ESI source with MRM mode for quantiifcation.ResultsThe linear range of the concentration were 0.05~2.0μg/mL for methomyl (r>0.995). The relative recoveries of methomyl were in the range of 90%~108%. The RSDs of intra-days and inter-day were both less than 15%.Conclusion The method is a simple, quick, sensitive and could be used for determination of methomyl in blood samples.

Objective To assess effects of stress dynamic CT myocardial perfusion imaging (CT-MPI) combined with coronary CT angiography (CCTA) on the diagnosis of myocardial perfusion defects in coronary artery disease (CAD). Methods Patients with CAD diagnosed by CCTA underwent ATP stress CT-MPI examination. Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) myocardial perfusion imaging (SPECT-MPI) was performed within one week and set as the reference standard. CT-MPI results were qualitatively analyzed, and myocardial blood flow (MBF), myocardial blood volume (MBV) as well as time to peak (TTP) were quantified according to CT-MPI. Effects of CCTA, CT-MPI, and CT-MPI combined with CCTA on predicting myocardial perfusion defects were assessed in comparison with NMPI. Results Thirty patients [(54.8±8.4)years] were enrolled in our study, 20 were men (68%). MBF [(79.3±18.0) versus (135.1± 35.2) ml·100 ml-1·min-1] and MBV [(8.9±2.9) versus (13.8±8.9) ml/100 ml] were significantly decreased in hypoperfused segments compared with normal segments, while TTP was increased in hypoperfused segments [(13.9 ± 2.5)s] compared with normal segments [(9.1 ± 2.1)s] (t=0.302, 0.866 and 0.024 respectively, all P values<0.01). The sensitivity, specificity of CT-MPI for identifying segments with perfusion defects were 91.3%(147/161), 84.6%(281/332), respectively. On a per-vessel basis, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for predicting myocardial perfusion defects were 0.635(95%CI:0.517—0.753) for CCTA, 0.709(95%CI:0.599—0.819)for CT-MPI, and 0.837(95%CI:0.749—0.925)for CT-MPI combined with CCTA, respectively. Conclusions The performance of stress dynamic CT-MPI in the diagnosis of myocardial perfusion defects in CAD was good. One-stop examination of CT-MPI combined with CCTA improves the diagnostic accuracy for identifying flow-obstructing stenosis.

The model establishment and numerical simulation of specific absorption rate (SAR) and the unsteady-state temperature distribution for radio frequency (RF) thermotherapy with double-frequencies and double-plates are presented in this paper. The model can correctly reflect the attenuation of electromagnetic wave in the biotissue. The variation of perfusion with temperature and the lower perfusion in tumor tissue are fully considered in the simulation of unsteady-state temperature profiles. Also presented are detailed analyses and discussions on the characteristics of SAR and temperature profiles, and the effects of the plates location and power as well as of the perfusion on the depth of effective treatment.

A total of 189 stool samples from swine with diarrhea, collected in various porcine farms in the central region of China were tested for porcine enteric caliciviruses (PEC) member porcine sapoviruses (SaV) by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) amplification using primers designed to detect porcine SaV. Selected amplicons were sequenced to establish phylogenetic relationships with reference strains. Porcine SaV were detected in 12.70% (24/189) of the samples. Phylogenetic studies based on partial RNA polymerase gene sequences indicated that the field strains of viruses isolated in China were closely related (75.6 88.3% identity) to the porcine SaV Cowden reference strain. These results provide evidence that caliciviruses of the genus sapovirus circulate in piglets in China, but further studies are needed to clarify their importance as cause of diarrhea. This is the first report of PEC in China.
