Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect and safety of Lianhua Qingwen Capsules (LHQC) in the treatment of influenza. Methods A multi- center, randomized, double- blind, positive- controlled, parallel group trial was designed. A total of 240 cases, which were diagnosed with influenza and classified as the syndrome of toxic heat invading lung, aged from 18 to 50 years old, with body temperature over 38.0 ℃ and disease course with 48 hours, was recruited. The intent- to- treat infected (ITTI) population was 152 cases , among which 76 were treated with LHQC (4 capsules thrice daily for 3 days) and other 76 with Lingyang Ganmao Capsules (2 capsules thrice daily for 3 days). Results In the ITTI population, the effective rate for subsiding fever was 71.1 % and 53.9 % (P=0.029), and that for relieving TCM symptoms was 73.7 % and 55.3 % (P=0.018) in LHQC group and Lingyang Ganmao Capsules group, respectively. A safety analysis was conducted in 233 cases. No adverse action was found in LHQC group while two adverse events (allergic dermatitis and diarrhea) in Lingyang Ganmao Capsules group. Conclusion Early application of LHQC is effective and safe in treating infuenza.

Objective To evaluate the femur biomechanical changes of finite analysis with different femoral stem ex-tension implants in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Methods The full-length femoral CT scan was performed in selected healthy volunteers. The femoral digital model was established with Mimics 10.0 and Geomagic Studio 10.0 software. The models of femoral prosthesis and stem extension implant were created by laser scanner. According to the common three hip loading modes (1 586 N, 1 690 N and 2 132 N), the maximum principal stress (MPS), the maximum principal elastic deforma-tion (MPES) and MPES distribution changes were recorded and analyzed by three-dimensional finite element analysis with ANSYS Workbench13.0 software. Results The MPS values before TKA were 98.54, 147.36 and 143.51 MPa respectively when values of femoral head loading were 1 586 N, 1 690 N and 2 132 N. With the increase in the length of the femoral pros-thesis extension rod, the MPS and MPES showed a decreasing trend. There was a positive correlation between free femur ra-tio (FFR) and MPES (P<0.05). The MPES distribution was gradually concentrated at the top point of femur stem extension implant with the increase in the length of the femoral prosthesis extension rod. Conclusion The values of MPS and MPES were gradually decreased with the increase in the length of the femoral stem extension implant. There was a positive linear correlation between FFR and MPES. The stress concentration was focused obviously at the top end of femoral stem extension implant with its length more than 120 mm.

Objective To investigate the effects of microRNA-29a (miR-29a) on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced apoptosis in human monocytes THP-1 cells in order to understand the molecular mechanisms. Methods Human monocytes THP-1 cell line were exposed to LPS after transfected with miR-29a inhibitors (100 nmol/L) or just transfected with miR-29a mimic (100 nmol/L) by lipofectamine RNAiMAX.Flow cytometry (FCM) was used to detect the cell apoptosis.Real-time RT-PCR was employed to measure expressive levels of the gene Bcl-2 and Mcl-1.The luciferase assay was performed in HEK293T cells, which were co-transfected with plasmid DNA and miRNA by using Lipofectamine 2000.Statistical analysis carried out by using SPSS 13.0 software for One-way ANOVA and Student' s t test. Results Transfection with miR-29a mimics for 48 h increased apoptosis rate and significantly reduced the expressions of Bcl-2 and Mcl-1 in THP-1 cells in comparsion with the control group. The apoptosis rate also raised in THP-1 cell stimulated by LPS for 24 h followed by LPS stimulation for 24 h,the apoptosis rate was decreased in comparison with the LPS group. In addition, our luciferase assay data showed that HEK293T cells cotransfected with miR-29a mimics and Bcl-2 3 ' UTR-Wt or Mcl-1 3' UTR-Wt plasmid significantly reduced the luciferase activity compared with the control group. Conclusions The miR-29a may regulate apoptosis by targeting the genes Bcl-2 and Mcl-1,and miR-29a may play a pivotal role in the process of apoptosis in immune cells.

Objective:To investigate the clinical significance of Bcl-6, c-myc gene abnormalities in Xinjiang Uygur and Han dif-fused large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) subtypes. Methods:Bcl-6, c-myc gene was detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization in 233 patients with DLBCL . A relationship was observed among Bcl-6, c-myc gene translocation, and clinical data in DLBCL patients. In addition, a difference was observed among Bcl-6, c-myc gene translocation, and different ethnic groups in different subtypes of DLB-CL. Results:Among the 233 patients, 51 cases (21.89%) had rearranged Bcl 6 gene, and 39 cases (16.74%) had rearranged c-myc gene. Bcl-6 gene translocation and expression was related with age, gender, disease location, clinical stage, and LDH levels (P>0.05), but was not related with nationality , international prognostic index score, extranodal involvement, B symptoms, DLBCL subtypes, and recent efficacy (P<0.05);c-myc gene translocation and expression was related with age, gender, disease location, clinical stage LDH levels, and DLBCL subtypes (P>0.05), but was not related with nationality, IPI score, extranodal involvement, B symptoms, and recent effica-cy (P<0.05). In the Uygur and Han GCB groups, Bcl-6, c-myc gene translocation showed no significant difference (P>0.05). By con-trast, in the Uygur and Han non-GCB groups, Bcl-6, c-myc gene translocation showed significant difference (P>0.05). Conclusion:Bcl-6, C-myc gene translocation was related with age, gender, disease location, clinical stage, and LDH levels. Bcl-6 gene translocation was also correlated with different subtypes of DLBCL.

Objective To evaluate the effect of the percutaneous transluminal septal myocardial ablation(PTSMA)on the left ventricular function in patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy(HOCM).Methods All HOCM patients underwent echocardiogram measurements before and after the PTSMA procedure. The peak velocity of mitral annulus was measured at Doppler tissue pulsed wave mode.Doppler tissue imaging(DTI)was obtained at the 4- and 2-chamber apical view, and the peak systolic(Sa),early diastolic(Ea),and late diastolic(Aa)myocardial velocities of mitral annulus was measured at the long apical view. Results Compared with the velocity parameters before the PTSMA procedure, the peak Sa and Ea after the PTSMA were significantly lower while Aa was un-significantly lower. Conclusions In patients with HOCM,the diastolic and systolic function of the left ventricle decreased after the PTSMA procedure.

ObjectiveTo explore the effects of Botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) on upper extremities function of children with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods27 children with spastic cerebral palsy who were treated with comprehensive rehabilitation training and BTX-A were arranged as treatment group, and other 30 children who were treated with comprehensive rehabilitation training only as control group. They were assessed with upper extremities functional test (UEFT) before and after treatment. ResultsAfter 3 months of treatment, the scores of UEFT improved more in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.01). ConclusionBTX-A can improve upper extremities function of the children with spastic cerebral palsy.
