Objective To explore the effect of specific nursing on quality of life of the parents of children with mental retardation (MR). Methods 160 parents of children with MR and 160 parents of normal children were evaluated with WHO Quality Of Life-BREF (WHO-QOL-BREF). The children with MR were divided into observation group (n=80) and control group (n=80). The control group received the traditional nursing care, and the observation group accepted specific nursing care. The scores of WHOQOLBREF were compared. Results The score of WHOQOL-BREF was lower in the MR group than in the normal group (P<0.01). The score decreased with the aggravation of MR (P<0.001). The score of WHOQOL-BREF was higher in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion Specific nursing should be given to the parents of children with MR, which can promote their quality of life.

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Nie-pinching spine coupled with point application and injection for cerebral palsy (CP) in children with spleen deficiency.
Methods:A total of 70 CP children with spleen deficiency were randomly allocated into a treatment group (n=35) and a control group (n=35). Children in the treatment group were treated with comprehensive rehabilitation training, Nie-pinching spine, point application and point injection, whereas children in the control group were treated with comprehensive rehabilitation training and oral administration of multi-enzyme tablets. One course of treatment made up of 20 d. There was a 20-day interval between two courses. The cases were treated for a total of 3 courses. Then the therapeutic efficacies were evaluated using scores of spleen-deficiency symptoms and gross motor function measure (GMFM).
Results:After 3 courses of treatment, the total effective rates for spleen-deficiency symptoms and rehabilitation were 85.7% and 77.1% respectively in the treatment group, versus 51.4% and 57.1% respectively in the control group, showing statistical differences (bothP<0.05).
Conclusion:In addition to comprehensive rehabilitation training, Nie-pinching spine combined with point application and injection obtained better effects than oral administration of multi-enzyme tablets.

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture plus occupation therapy for fine motor functions in children with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods:A total of 80 cerebral palsy kids with fine motor dysfunction were allocated into two groups by envelop, 40 cases in each group. Cases in the control group were treated with occupation therapy. Based on the therapy given to the control group, cases in the treatment group were supplemented with acupuncture at the points of the three yang meridians of hand. The treatment was done every other day and 10 times for a course. There was a 15-day interval between two courses, and 3 courses in total. The therapeutic efficacies were evaluated using Peabody developmental motor scale 2 (PDMS-2) and modified Ashworth scale (MAS) before and after treatment. Results:After treatment, the standard score for grasping (Grs), standard score for visual-motor integration (Vis), fine motor quotient (FMQ) and modified Ashworth scale (MAS) were significantly improved in both groups (P<0.05). The improvement in the treatment group was more obvious than that in the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion:Acupuncture plus occupation therapy can achieve better effect than occupation therapy alone in improving fine motor functions of upper limbs in cerebral palsy kids.

Objective To investigate the differentiation of rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to renal tubular epithelial-like cells under different conditions. Methods MSCs were obtained from rat marrow. MSCs were isolated by gradient density centrifugation and plastic adherence and then purified. Surface markers were identified with flow cytometry after amplification in vitro. The purified MSCs of the third passage were cultured respectively as follows: (1) control group: DMEM medium with fetal bovine serum(FBS). (2) all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) group: DMEM medium with FBS, ATRA and ischemic reperfusion-injured kidney tissue homogenate. (3)combination group: DMEM medium with FBS, ATRA, ischemic reperfusion-injured kidney tissue homogenate, epidermal growth factor (EGF) and bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP-7). After 7 days, the MSCs were collected for alkaline phosphatase (AKP) staining, cytokeratin-18 and E-cadherin immunocytochemical analysis. Results The positive rates of the third passage MSCs in CD44, CD90 and CD29 were 97.8%±0.9%, 96.8%±1.4% and 97.6%±2.4%,respectively, but in CD11b/c and CD34 were only 13.2%±0.6% and 1.2%±0.5%. The MSCs in control group were spindle. The MSCs in ATRA group were round and elliptic. The MSCs in combination group became cobblestone-like cells after 7 days. AKP staining showed that tubular epithelial-like cells from MSCs in control group were negative, some above cells in ATRA group were positive and number of above cells increased in combination group. Compared with negative control group, the ratios of cytokeratin-18 positive cells in ATRA group and combination group were respectively increassed by 29.47%±1.08% and 47.52%±2.13% (all P<0.05), the ratios of E-cadherin positive cells in ATRA group and combination group were respectively increased by 14.88%±2.46% and 36.15%±1.13% (all P<0.05). Conclusion MSCs may differentiate by renal tubular epithelial-like cells under the induction of ischemic reperfusion-injured kidney tissue homogenate and ATRA in vitro, which are further differentiated under the combined induction of EGF and BMP-7.

Objective To investigate the classiifcation, and reasonable choice and curative effect of the surgical procedures for pancreatic duct stone. Methods Clinical data of 18 patients with pancreatic duct stone undergoing surgery in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University from January 2010 to December 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 13 males and 5 females with the average age of (53±12) years. Fourteen cases suffered from abdominal pain, 5 complicated with pancreatic cancer, 6 with bile duct stone and 8 with mellitus diabetes. The informed consents of all patients were obtained and the local ethical committee approval was received. Classiifcation, surgical procedures and postoperative complications of the pancreatic duct stone patients during perioperative period and the curative effect during follow-up were observed. Results All patients received surgical treatment. Two cases with typeⅠ pancreatic duct stone underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple operation), 8 with type Ⅱand 1 with typeⅢunderwent pancreatolithotomy+pancreato-jejunal Roux-en-Y anastomosis (Partington operation). Two with typeⅢunderwent distal pancreatectomy+splenectomy. Among 5 cases with typeⅣ,2 underwent Whipple operation and 3 underwent Partington operation. No patients died during perioperative period. Postoperative complications were observed in 5 cases, including 3 with pancreatic ifstula and 2 with ascites, and the patients were cured after symptomatic treatments. Abdominal pain disappeared after surgery in 12 cases and was signiifcantly alleviated in 2 cases. One case complicated with pancreatic cancer died 1 year after surgery. No recurrence of stones was observed in the remaining cases. Conclusions Based on the priciple of individualized treatment, reasonable surgical procedure should be choosed according to the classiifcation of pancreatic duct stone. Pancreatolithotomy and pancreatojejunostomy are the main surgical procedures.
