1.Emergent arterial embolization in the treatment of traumatic urinary bleeding
Chinese Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery 2001;0(06):-
Objective To investigate the clinical value of selective arterial embolization in the emergent treatment of traumatic urinary bleeding. Methods Twenty-seven cases were included in the study. The bleeding arteries were determined according to findings in angiography and embolic agents (gelfoam particles or steel coils) were inserted into the target arteries. Results The hemorrhage was completely controlled in 23 cases after the first embolization and in 2 cases after the second embolization. The embolization failed and was converted to open surgery in 2 cases. Adverse effects after the embolization included 16 cases of fever, 14 cases of local pain with nausea and vomiting, and 1 case of transient buttock pain after the embolization of the internal iliac artery). Conclusions Selective arterial embolization is an effective and mini-invasive option for the management of traumatic urinary bleeding. It takes effect quickly and creates favorable conditions for further treatment.

Objective The objective was to discussing the difference between the Pemberton osteotomy and Salter osteot?omy which performed in patients between the ages of 2 and 3 years who suffered from developmental dislocation of the hip (DDH). Methods A retrospective review of the results of operation treatment for DDH in 59 children (84 hips) from January 1998 to De?cember 2008 was conducted. There are 10 boys (14 hips) and 49 girls (70 hips). The age of the patients was between 2-3 years old at the time of treatment 2.5±0.4 years. Surgery consist of open reduction of the hip, capsulorraphy, shortening and derotational oste?otomy of proximal femur, and innominate osteotomy which include Pemberton osteotomy (33 hips), Salter osteotomy (51 hips). McKay and Severin modified criteria were used to assess the function and radiographic results of the hip. Results The average follow?up time was 5.6±3.5 years ranging from 2 to 16 years. According to Severin criteria at final follow?up, 78 hips (93%) had ex?cellent and good results;4 hips were fair and 2 hips poor result. The radiology results in Salter osteotomy were better than Pember?ton osteotomy (rate of excellent and good results 100%vs. 82%,χ2=7.43, P=0.003). According to the McKay criteria Salter osteoto?my and Pemberton osteotomy have no significant difference in latest follow?up (the satisfactory rate 100%vs. 97%,χ2=1.56, P=0.39). 18 hips (21%) had proximal femoral growth disturbance which 10 hips in Pemberton group, 8 hips in Salter group. There is no significant difference (χ2=2.54, P=0.17). Conclusion Open reduction, innominate osteotomy and proximal femoral osteotomy were effective procedures for the treatment of DDH in children between 2-3 years old. More attention should be taken in Pember?ton osteotomy to prevent the acetabular bony edge absorption.

In the present study, packaging system composed of pAAV-CMV-GFP, pAAV-RC and pHelper were transfected into human embryonic kidney 293 cells (HEK293 cells) mediated by polyethyleneimine (PEI) to explore an optimal transfection condition. Different total plasmid DNA dosages (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 μg) and different PEI/Plasmid ratios (1:1, 3:1, 5:1, 7:1) were tested with detection of green fluorescence protein (GFP) with ImagePro Plus6. 0 Software. Then transfection efficiency of the optimized transfection system was further observed for different time periods(12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72 h). The results showed that total plasmid dosage of 4 μg/well with PEI/plasmid ratio of 3 : 1-5 : 1 was an efficient transfection condition. Transfection efficiency-time curve was an S-shaped curve. Transfection efficiency reached a plateau at 60 h after transfection. The optimized conditions for PEI-mediated transfection at the optimal time result in enhanced transfection efficiency of triple plasmid into HEK293 cells.

AIM: To discuss the tongxinluo supermicropowder's interventional effect on aorta endodermis of rabbits which are fed with fatty forage plants.METHODS: Thirty-two healthy male New Zealand rabbits were divided into 4 groups randomly: control group, model group, atorvastatin treatment group, and tongxinluo treatment group. The control group was fed with common feedstuff, and all the other groups were fed with fatty feedstuff. The atorvastatin treatment group and the tongxinluo treatment group were given suspension of atorvastatin(3 g?kg-1?d-1) and tongxinluo supermicropowder(0.31 g?kg-1?d-1) by intragastric administration on the basis of fatty feedstuff. All the groups were fed with medicine for 6 weeks. At the end of 6 weeks, blood lipid levels were observed by enzymic method, the levels of blood serum NO and MDA and the activity of SOD were observed by chromatometry, the expression of nuclear factor-kappaB(NF-?B),intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1) was detected, and VCAM-1mRNA expression in the aortic tissue was examined by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).RESULTS: The levels of blood serum TC,TG,LDL-C,HDL-C,and MDA were increased significantly compared with the control group(P

Powder is a powdery medicine dispensed in the form of a pulverized medicine from one or multiple Chinese herbal medicines, which has been recorded in theHuang Di Nei Jing (Huangdi’s Canon of Medicine),the earliest Chinese medical classic. TCM powder is widely used in various subjects by clinical TCM practitioners, especially in digestive system diseases. This article overviewed the clinical researches on the application of TCM powder in digestive system diseases, which could provide comprehensive references for further studies of TCM powder in the treatment of digestive system diseases and perfect its application in clinical studies.

Aim: To explore the in situ intestinal absorption in rats of ZLR-8, an insoluble NO-donor drug, and to compare the intestinal absorption enhancement by spray-dried emulsion. Methods: Intestine of rats was cannulat-ed for in situ perfusion. UV and HPLC methods were used to monitor phenolsulfonphthalein and ZLR-8, respec-tively. The effects on ZLR-8 absorption of the intestinal segments, the concentration of ZLR-8 and the pH of the circulating perfusate were studied. The absorption of ZLR-8 suspension was compared to that of the spray-dried emulsion. Results: 1-h in situ intestinal perfusion of the spray-dried emulsion allowed the estimation of the absor-tion percentage to be (23. 54 ± 1. 40) %, (15. 95 ± 0. 09) %, (12. 30 ± 0. 74) %, (3. 98 ± 0. 12) %, respec-tively; the absorption rate constants in duodenum, colon, jejunum and ileum to be (0.248 6 ±0.046 0) h~(-1), (0. 143 7 ±0. 036 0) h~(-1), (0. 069 2 ±0. 001 3) h~(-1), (0. 020 8 ±0. 000 4) h~(-1), respectively. Significant differ-ences in absorption characteristics were found among intestinal segments. In the range of 3. 4-9. 4, pH of the per-fuate had significant influence on the absorption of ZLR-8, and better absorption appeared at pH of 5. 4 to 7. 4. It was found that the absorption rate constant was unaffected by ZLR-8 concentration. However, the absorption amount was proportional to ZLR-8 concentration. Compared to the ZLR-8 suspension, the in situ intestinal absorption of ZLR-8 in rats given the spray-dried emulsion increased significantly. Conclusion: It was only found that ZLR-8 administered in suspension has minor absorption in rat duodenum while no apparent absorption occurred in other segemnts. ZLR-8 in spray-dried emulsion was fairly absorbed in the rat intestinal segments. Passive diffusion was invloved in the absorption of ZLR-8. Spray-dried emulsion significantly enhanced the intestinal absorption of ZLR-8 in rats.
