Objective To observe the pulmonary artery motion curve with anatomical M-mode echocardiography, and to investigate its influential factors. Methods The pulmonary artery motion curve was detected and pulsating amplitude of pulmonary artery wall (PAWPA) was measured with anatomical M-mode echocardiography in 160 patients with normal pulmonary artery pressure. Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was used to assess inter-observer conisitency of PAWPA measurements between two investigators who were blinded to each other's findings, and intra-observer consistency of PAWPA with repeating the measurements on two occasions by the same investigator in 20 randomly selected cases. Stepwise multiple regression was used to analyze the following potential influential factors of PAWPA: age, gender, heart rate, blood pressure, atherosclerosis, right atrial diameter, and pulmonary insufficiency. Results There was good consistency between two independent observers' measurements and between two occasions in the same observer's measurements for PAWPA with ICC values of 0.91 (95% CI, 0.37-0.99) and 0.95 (95% CI, 0.60-0.99), respectively. PAWPA was negatively correlated with age (β=-0.47, P<0.001) and heart rate (β=-0.29, P<0.005). There was no correlation of PAWPA with gender, blood pressure, atherosclerosis, right atrial diameter, and pulmonary insufficiency. Conclusion Anatomical M-mode echocardiography can be used for measuring PAWPA with good consistency and reproducibility. In normal pulmonary artery pressure cases, PAWPA is affected by age and heart rate.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the stability of cefoxitin sodium for injection compatible with metronidazole injection fluid.METHODS:Cefoxitin sodium for injection was compatible with metronidazole injection fluid and the solution was stored ordinary temperature for4hours,the maximum absorption peak and absorbance of the solution were determined by UV,and the color of the solution was observed,and its pH value was determined.RESULTS:There were no significant changes in absorp-tion peak,absorbance,color and pH value of the compatible solution.CONCLUSION:Cefoxitin sodium for injection is com-patible with metronidazole injection fluid,and the compatible solution remains stable at ordinary temperature for4hours.

Objective To observe the treatment effect of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) in the treatment of unstable angina pectoris.Methods LMWH (0.4～0.6 ml Bid) was used through subcutaneous injection in 36 cases of unstable angina pectoris for 14 days on end.Results The clinical effective rate was 66.67%.The drug was effective in the decreasing of the frequency and time of angina pectoris,and also in the decreasing of nitroglycerin consumption as well as in the improvement of the scope and severity of cardiac ischemia by ECG.Conclusion LMWH is an effective and safe drug for the treatment of unstable angina pectoris.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of hypertension and obesity and their main influencial factors among 6～12 years old children in Shenzhen.Method 1 140 children aged from 6 to 12 years old in 4 schools in Shenzhen were sampled by random cluster sampling,and their systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP),body height,weight and other morphological parameters were measured.Results The prevalent rate of hypertension was 9.4%(8.6% for boys and 10.2% for girls);Rate of overweight and obesity for boys were 13.25% and 13.72,respectively,and the girl were 9.09% and 8.10%,respectively.There were a increasing trend toward SBP and DBP with age,especially SBP.After adjusted with age and gender,the partial correlation coefficients between BMI and SBP,DBP were 0.462 and 0.357,respectively(P

Objective To investigate the effects of surgical operations on different femoral condylar fractures. Methods A retrospective study was carried out on surgical operations of 84 patients with different femoral condylar fractures. The healing of fracture, functional recovery of knee joint and complications were analyzed. Results All the fractures healed in 6 to 12 months. According to Karlstrom's knee function score system, 48 knees were rated as excellent, 20 good, 13 fair, and 3 poor. The total good and excellent rate was 80.9%. Conclusions Anatomical reduction, secure fixation, timely treatment of complicated damage, and early rehabilitation exercise are important in treatment of femoral condylar fracture. The sustain blade plate is recommendable, because its design suits the anatomical structure of femoral condylar, and it not only provides convenient and stable fixation but also allows early postoperative functional training.

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of lengthening and rotational osteotomy of the fibula for lateral malleolar malunion. Methods Twenty-three patients who had suffering from the traumatic arthritis of ankle were due to lateral malleolar malunion treated with lengthening and rotational osteotomy from October 2005 to July 2008. Special radiographs were use to fully detect the extent of shortening and rotation of the fibula. The Lengthening and rotational osteotomy could be conducted with a special compression/distraction device and bone graft. The function of the ankles was evaluated by the American Orthopedic Foot Ankle Society (AOFAS) scoring system. Serial radiographs of the ankle were made to assess the bone healing and changes of posttraumatic osteoarthritis. Results Seventeen of 23 patients were followed up, with a mean 29.1 months (12-45 months). All the fractures were healed. The mean bone healing time was 13.3 weeks (11-16 weeks) and the mean time of total weight-bearing was 12.1 weeks (11-15 weeks). The ankle function score had improved from 29 (21-47) preoperatively to 81 (56-91)12 months after the operation. There was 5 in excellent, 8 in good, 3 in mild, 1 in poor, and the rate of good outcomes was 76.5%. After the operation, 1 patient had a skin necrosis around the wound which healed by conservative treatment. A slightly aggravated degeneration of the ankle joint was seen in 2 patients who responded to conservative managements. No failure of the internal fixation was noted in this group. Conclusion The outcomes demonstrate that reconstructive lengthening osteotomy is well worthwhile when there is absent or minimal osteoarthritic change, regardless the time from the original injury. Lengthening of the fibula is an important step in the treatment of the painful ankle when the fibula become shorter after injury, even when degenerative changes of the joint are already present. The lengthening of the fibula could lead to a good outcome in ankle with lateral malleolar malunion.

Objective To investigate the antioxidative effects of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) on the intestinal ischemia reperfusion.Methods Thirty-two male SD rats were randomly divided into the sham operation group,occlusion group,dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) group and the ATRA group according to the random number table.There were 8 rats in each group.Rat models of intestinal ischemia reperfusion were established by clamping the superior mesenteric arteries for 60 minutes,and then restore the blood flow for 120 minutes.Superior mesenteric arteries were only separated without clamping in the sham operation group.Rats in the ATRA group received ATRA pretreatment through intragastric infusion at the dosage of 15 μg/g for 5 days,and then ATRA pretreatment at 6 hours before operation.Rats in the DMSO group received intragastric infusion of DMSO at the same dosage.The concentration of ATRA at 5 hours before operation was detected by high performance liquid chromatography.The pathomorphological changes of the ileal mucosa were detected by hematoxylin-eosin staining,and the Chiu's scores on the ileal mucosa were evaluated.The serum content of diamine oxidase (DAO),tissue level of malonaldehyde (MDA) and activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) were detected by colorimetry.Protein expression of manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) in the ileal tissues was detected by Western blot.All data were analyzed using the analysis of variance or LSD-t test.Results The concentrations of ATRA in the ATRA group was (827 ±276) μg/L,which was significantly higher than (48 ± 12) μg/L of the sham operation group,(55 ± 15) μg/L of the occlusion group and (63 ± 20) μg/L of the DMSO group (t =11.242,11.138,11.013,P ＜ 0.05).The morphology of the ileal mucosa was normal in the sham operation group,while the ileal mucosa was severely damaged in the occlusion group and the DMSO group.The injury of the ileal mucosa in the ATRA group was slight.The Chiu's scores of the occlusion group,DMSO group and the ATRA group were 3.83 ±0.77,3.92 ± 0.87 and 2.42 ± 0.75,which were significantly higher than 0.37 ± 0.28 of the sham operation group (t =9.803,10.040,5.793,P ＜0.05).The Chiu's scores of the ATRA group was significantly lower than that of the occlusion group and the DMSO group (t =4.009,4.247,P ＜ 0.05).The DAO levels of the occlusion group,DMSO group and the ATRA group were (26.3 ±4.4)U/L,(25.1 ± 4.3)U/L and (20.8 ±3.8)U/L,which were significantly higher than (14.2 ± 1.9) U/L of the sham operation group (t =6.493,5.835,3.534,P ＜ 0.05).The level of DAO of the ATRA group was significantly lower than that of the occlusion group and the DMSO group (t =2.959,2.301,P ＜0.05).The levels of MDA of the occlusion group,DMSO group and the ATRA group were (16.9 ± 4.0) μmol/g,(16.0 ± 3.5) μmol/g and (11.3 ± 3.1) μmol/g,which were significantly higher than (5.4 ± 1.0) μmol/g of the sham operation group (t =7.397,6.821,3.821,P ＜ 0.05).The level of MDA of the ATRA group was signifcantly lower than that of the occlusion group and the DMSO group (t =3.575,3.000,P ＜ 0.05).The SOD activity of the occlusion group,DMSO group and the ATRA group were (108 ±22) U/mg,(98 ± 19) U/mg and (181 ± 38)U/mg,which were significantly lower than (243 ± 37)U/mg of the sham operation group (t =8.939,9.647,4.106,P ＜ 0.05).The SOD activity of the ATRA group was significantly higher than that of the occlusion group and the DMSO group (t =4.833,5.541,P ＜ 0.05).The relative protein expressions of the MnSOD of the occlusion group and the DMSO group were 0.36 ± 0.08 and 0.28 ± 0.07,which were significantly lower than 0.93 ± 0.13 of the sham operation group (t =8.972,10.101,P ＜ 0.05).The relative protein expression of the MnSOD of the ATRA group was 0.80 ± 0.19,which was significantly higher than that of the occlusion group and the DMSO group (t =6.948,8.077,P ＜ 0.05),while it was not significantly different from that of the sham operation group (t =2.024,P ＞ 0.05).Conclusion Through up-regulating the expression of MnSOD and improving the antioxidative capacity of tissue,ATRA pretreatment can attenuate intestinal ischemia and reperfusion injury.

BACKGROUND: Dopaminergic neurons differentiated from neural stem cells have been successfully used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease rats; however, the survival rate of transplanted cells has been low. Most cells die of apoptosis as a result of the formation of oxygen free radical and lipid peroxidation.OBJECTIVE: To observe resveratrol (Res) effects on survival of transplanted cells, transplanted efficacy and dopaminergic differentiation from neural stem cells in a rat model of Parkinson's disease.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Randomized controlled animal experiments were performed at the Animal Experiment Center,Sun Yat-sen University from October 2007 to June 2008.MATERIALS: Thirty-two adult, healthy, male Sprague Dawley rats were equally and randomly assigned to model control, dopaminergic neuron, Res and combination groups. Four healthy Sprague Dawley rat embryos at gastational days 14-15 were selected and fetal rats were used for isolation and culture of neural stem cells. Res (Jingmal Biotech, Shenzhen, China) was used for this study.METHODS: Neural stem cells derived from the mesencephalon of embryonic rats were isolated and cultured in vitro, and passaged in serum-free culture medium containing epidermal growth factor and basic fibroblast growth factor, and then differentiated into dopaminergic neurons in differentia.ion medium. Parkinson's disease rat models were established by the injection of 6-hydroxydopamine in each group. Rats in the dopaminergic neuron group was injected with 3 pL cell suspension (1×10 cells/μL) containing dopaminergic neurons in the corpus striatum. Rats in the Res group received 3 μL of Ras (40 mg/L).Rats in the combination group were subjected to 3 μL of Res (40 mg/L) + 3 μL cell suspension (1×105 calls/μL) containing dopaminergic neurons. Rats in the model control group received 3 ×L of DMEM/F12 culture medium.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The percentage of tyrosine hydroxylase-positive neurons in differentiated cells. The alteration of rotational asymmetry and the survival of tyrosine hydroxylase-positive neurons in graft areas of Parkinson's disease rats after transplantation.RESULTS: Flow cytometry demonstrated that survival rate of tyrosine hydroxytase-positive neurons was (17.8 ±4.2)% at 6 days following differentiation. Compared to the model control group, the rotational asymmetry was significantly improved at 10 days (P < 0.01), was significantly decreased at 20 days following transplantation in the combination group (P < 0.01). At 10-60 days following transplantation, the number of rotational asymmetry was significantly lower in the combination group than in the dopaminergic neuron group (P < 0.01). Tyrosine hydroxylase-positive neurons were not determined in the Res and model control groups. Objective To study the consistency and complementarity of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS),white light endoscopy (WLE) and magnifying endoscopy (ME) in diagnosis of ulcerative colitis (UC).Methods We collected 125 cases of UC patients diagnosed by WLE and EUS (including 51 cases of WLE + ME + EUS).According to UC mucosal morphology under WLE and crypt openings under ME,we divided all the cases into several groups and analyzed intestinal wall thickness (TWT) under EUS in each group.Results According to the results of UC inflammation degree under WLE,all patients were divided into four groups: 16 severe cases,46 moderate cases,44 mild,and 19 remission stage.TWT results were (5.903 ± 1.551 ) mm,(4.673 ± 1.235 ) mm,(3.756 ± 1.322 )mm and ( 3.464 ± 0.970) mm,respectively.Differences were significant between any two groups ( P ＜ 0.05 ),except for that between mild and remission groups.According to the results of UC inflammation degree under ME,all patients were divided into six groups: 9 cases of villous-like structure,9 cases of typical coral reef-like structure,8 severe coral reef-like structure,13 regular crypt opening,6 epithelial minimal defect and 6 small yellow spot (SYS).TWT results were (5.701 ±0.941 )mm,(5.518 ±0.581 )mm,(5.181 ±0.751 )mm,(3.763 ±0.659) mm,(3.587 ±0.461 )mm and (2.505 ± 0.330 )mm,respectively.Differences were significant between any two groups ( P ＜ 0.05 ) except for those between epithelial minimal defect and regular crypt opening,typical coral reeflike structure,villous-like and severe coral reef-like structure.EUS results showed SYS (6/6) and regular crypt opening ( 10/13 ) were mostly located in mucosa,while lesions of severe coral reef-like structure (8/8) invaded the muscularis propria.Conclusion EUS shows high consistency with WLE and ME in diagnosis of UC inflammation degree and invasive depth.It could assist and even substitute ME for evaluation.
