It suggested that the expression of P53 protein might play an important role in neuroendocrine differentiation in ovarian mucinous tumors.

Serum specific IgG (SIgG) antibodies of 32 patients with epidemic hemorrhagic fever (EHF) were sequentially determined by indirect immunofluorecent antibody test and their relationship to the types of the disease were analyzed in the present paper. The SIgG antibodies appeared practically on day 3 after the onset of the disease. Thereafter,the positive rates and the SIgG titres increased with the prolongation of the illness days and reached 100% positive rates and stable high titres till day 11 to day 12 after the onset of the disease. Furthermore, different types of the disease had.different SIgG response curves ,and there was a significant difference between the SIgG titres of different illness types statistically from day 7 to day 8 after the onset of the disease. These results suggest that the SIgG might be responsible for the immunopathogenesis of EHF.

Objective To investigate the efficacy of uterine artery chemoembolization in the treatment of locally advanced cervical cancer.Methods A total of 268 patients with locally advanced cervical cancer were treated with uterine artery chemoembolization in our department.The stage distribution among the patients included 132 stage Ⅰ B2,85 stage Ⅱ A1 and 51 stage Ⅱ A2.There were 223 patients of squamous cell carcinoma,24 patients of adenocarcinoma,9 patients of adenosquamous carcinoma,small cell carcinoma of the 7 patients,5 patients of neuroendocrine carcinoma.Transcatheter uterine artery infusion of paclitaxel and nedaplatin,gelatin sponge particles was applied for uterine artery embolization.The clinicopathological parameters were analyzed,and their impacts on tumor response were investigated.RECIST criteria were used to evaluate the response in solid tumors.Student t test was used to compare cervical tumor diameter before and after treatment,and Chi-square test was used for comparison of categorical data.Follow up examinations included pelvic ultrasound,gynecology,vaginal stump cell smears.Results Of the 268 patients,74 (27.6％) patients showed a complete response,160 (59.7％) patients had a partial response to uterine artery chemoembolization,and the overall response rate was 87.3％.A total of 258 (96.3 ％) patients underwent surgery,and pathological complete response were identified in 46 (17.2％).Forty (14.9％) patients were found to have lymph node metastasis after surgery.Response rates of stage Ⅰ B2 and Ⅱ A cases were 94.7％ and 80.1％,respectively,P ＜ 0.05.Patients with squamous cell carcinoma showed a better response rate than patents with other pathological types (94.2％ vs.53.3％),P ＜ 0.05.Initial tumor volume and cycles of preoperative uterine artery chemoembolization had no effect onthe response rate.Conclusions Uterine artery chemoembolization can increase the rate of surgical resectionof patients with locally advanced cervical cancer and can improve the reaction rate with tolerable side effect.It is an applicable option of treatment for patients with locally advanced cervical cancer in the neoadjuvanttreatment.

Objective To determine the susceptibility of yeasts and to explore the antifungal m echanismof Lisea cubeba oil,so as to provide evidence for the development of antifungal medicinal herbs.Methods The minimuminhibitory concentrations(MIC)of Lisea cubeba oil and fluconazole were determined by broth microdilution method according to the National Com mittee on Clinical Laboratory Standards(NCCLS)reference method for broth dilution antifungal susceptibility testing of yeasts.Ultra-structur al changes of C.krusei were observed by electron microscopy before and after Lisea cubeba oil treatment.Results Five previously identified quality control(QC)strains(Candida albicans,Candida tropical is,Candida glabrata,Candida parapsilosis,Candida krusei)were susceptible to Lisea cubeba oil,their MICs were 14.14?3.64?g /mL,23.22?2.85?g /mL,31.24?2.88?g /mL,76.19?4.40?g /mL,28.30?2.54?g /mL,respectively.After treatmen t with Lisea cubeba oil the mor-phology and ultrastructure of Candida krusei showed obvious changes:their cell wall and cytoplasmic membrane ruptured;intracellar components dissolved;organellae swollen and di ssolved.There were no changes observed in the morphology and ultrastructure of C.krusei treated with fluconazole.Conclusions The data indicate that Lisea cubeba oil has antifungal effect not only on C.albican and other medically important Candida spp.,but also on fluconazole resistant isolates such as C.krusei and thus has great clinical importan ce.The antifungal mechanismof Lisea cubeba oil may be that the structure of cell w all and cell membrane of C.krusei being inhibited.

ObjectiveTo investigate the expression of Twist protein in adenocarcinoma of prostate and clinicopathological features and explore its roles in the carcinogenesis and progression of adenocarcinoma of prostate and its relationship with prognosis.MethodsThe expression of Twist was detected in 70 cases with adenocarcinoma of prostate and 30 cases with side cancer tissue by immunohistochemistry (EnlivionTM).ResultsThe expression of Twist protein in adenocarcinoma of prostate was higher than side cancer tissue.The expression of twist was related to Gleason grade,clinical stage and bony metastasis (P＜0.05),but it was not related to the age (P＞0.05).The survival rate of Twist protein positive patients was significant lower than negative patients(x2=9.52,P＜0.01).ConclusionsTwist might be an important biological marker for malignant transformation and invasion and metastasis adenocarcinoma of prostate,and the up-regulation of the expression of Twist reflects more invasion and poor prognosis.

Objective To investigate the expressions of Wnt1 and β-catenin proteins in mammary cancer and its relationship with clinical pathological characteristics,and explore its role in the pathogenesis of breast cancer.Methods Immunoshistochemisty (SP method) was used to detect the expressions of Wnt1 and β-catenin proteins in adjacent tissue of breast cancer (n =15),breast hyperplasia tissues (n =25),and breast in vasive ductal carcinoma (n =80).SPSS 17.0 statistical software was used for analysis,such as count data with x2 test and correlation analysis with Spearman test,with significance level of α =0.05.Results The positive rate of Wnt1 and β-catenin in breast cancer group [62.5％ (50/80) and 68.8 (55/80)] was significantly higher than that in hyperplasia group [28％ (7/25) and 20％ (5/25)]and in borderline group [13.33 (2/15) and 13.33 (2/15)] with a significant difference (P ＜ 0.01).Positive expression of Wnt1 and abnormal expression of β-catenin in breast invasive ductal carcinoma were related to lymphatic metastasis (x2 =5.10,4.87,P ＜ 0.05).Abnormal expression of β-catenin was also related to the histological grading of breast invasive ductal carcinoma (x2 =5.61,P ＜ 0.05).The expressions of Wnt1 and β-catenin proteins in invasive ductal carcinoma showed a positive correlation (r =0.313,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusions The high level expression of Wnt1 protein and the abnormal expression of β-catenin protein might play an important role in breast carcinogenesis,and was related to lymph node metastasis.

Objective To compare the efficacy and side-effects of preoperative neoadjuvant uterine arterial chemoembolization and venous chemotherapy in treating cervical cancer in young female patients. Methods A total of 241 young females(≤35 years old) with cervical cancer were enrolled in this study. The clinical data were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into group A (n=63) and group B (n=57). Patients in group A received preoperative neoadjuvant uterine arterial chemoembolization with subsequent surgery, while patients in group B were treated with preoperative neoadjuvant intravenous chemotherapy followed by surgery. The chemotherapy scheme included carboplatin (50 mg/m2) and gemcitabine (1 000 mg/m2). The short-term effect, the amount of blood loss during the surgery, pathological findings and the side-effects of the two groups were compared. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate survival rate, and the log-rank test was used for survival difference analysis. Results The short-term response rate of group A was 90.5%, which was significantly higher than that of group B (71.9%), the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (χ2=7.5, P<0.05). The resection rate of group A was 95.2%, which was higher than that of group B (84.2%). The amount of intra-operative blood loss of group A and group B was (443±263) ml and (695±312) ml respectively, the difference was statistically significant (t=4.802, P<0.05). The pathological complete remission of group A and group B was 9.5%(6/63) and 5.3%(3/57)respectively; the differences in postoperative pathological results between the two groups were statistically significant (χ2=12.3, P<0.05). The side effect of group A was milder than that of group B (P<0.05). The 5-year progression-free survival (PFS) rate of group A and group B was 73.0% and 54.4% respectively (χ2=4.471, P<0.05);and the overall survival (OS) rate of group A and group B was 77.8%and 63.2%respectively (χ2=3.022, P>0.05). In both groups, the clinical stage, the pathological grade and the size (≥ 4 cm) of the tumor were the main factors that could influence the prognosis in young females with cervical cancer (P<0.05). Conclusion The short-term efficacy of preoperative uterine artery chemoembolization is better than that of preoperative intravenous chemotherapy for the treatment of cervical cancer in young female patients. Besides, this therapy carries mild side effect, and it can improve the 5-year progression-free survival rate, although the long-term survival rate has not been obviously improved.

Objective To study the expression of Gult-1 in cervical adenocarcinoma and prognosis analysis.Methods Gult-1 was detected by immunohistochemistry (EnVision) in cervical adenocarcinoma and cancer adjacent tissue.Results In cancer adjacent tissue and cervical adenocarcinoma,the positive rates of Gult-1 were 2.22 ％ (1/45),58.67 ％ (44/75),respectively,and there was statistical significance between them (x2 =38.23,P =0.00).The expression of Gult-1 was not correlated to age,histological classification and infiltrated depth (all P ＞ 0.05).However,it was correlated to tumor size,histological grade and lymphatic nodes metastasis (all P ＜ 0.05).The survival rate of positive Gult-1 patients was lower than negative Gult-1 patients (x 2 =4.27,P =0.04).Conclusion The over-expression of Guh-1 in cervical adenocarcinoma indicates poorly differentiated cancer,the possibility of lymphatic nodes metastasis and unfavourable prognosis.
