Objective To explore clinical characteristics of chronic total occlusion(CTO) in population with routine coronary angiography, and to cumulate therapeutic experience. Methods Retrospective analysis was performed on clinical data of 57 cases with CTO selected from 825 patients undergone coronary angiography. Results Among 57 cases, the percentage of male, myocaridial infarction, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidermia and left ventricular dysfunction was 73.7%,84.2%,22.8%,73.7% and 22.8%,respectively.The types of lesions included single branch(n=11),double branches(n=29) and three branches(n=17).Of 70 branches lesion vessels,44 were TIMI 0 of blood flow classification and 26 were TIMI1.The position of lesions occurred at left anterior descending branch(n=32),left circumflex branch(n=16),right coronary artery(n=22).The occlusion time was less than three months(n=41) and more than three months(n=29).The lengths of lesion was divided into less than 20 mm(n=43) and more than 20 mm(n=27).The shapes of terminal lesion looked like rat-tail(n=42) and blaze knife-edge(n=28).The coronary stents were performed at 57 lesions among 70 branches and the successful rate of operation was 82.9%.Conclusions Timely coronary angiography and selecting suitable treatment on different kinds of lesions for male patients with myocardial infraction, especially complicated with diabetes mellitus, might play important roles in prevention of CTO and in improvement of the successful rate of percutanous coronary intervention for the complex lesion.

Objective:To study the effect of extraneous sugar on rea ct ive oxygen species metabolism of Streptococcus mutans. Methods: Electron spin resonance (ESR) method was used to measure reactive oxygen spe cies of Streptococcus mutans incubated in the different sugar incubation con ditions. Results:With the increase of glucose at 0.0062~0.05 mo l/L, the quantities of reactive oxygen species produced by Streptococcus mutan s increased and increased to the maximum when Streptococcus mutans were in cubated in different sugar culture fluids within 2 h. All kinds of sugar promote d reactive oxygen species metabolism of Streptococcus mutans. Conclu sion:Extraneous sugar promotes reactive oxygen species metabolism of Streptococcus mutans.

Journal of Practical Stomatology 2000;0(05):-
Objective: To study the effect of methylene blue on the metabolism of reactive oxygen and acid production of Streptococcus mutans . Methods: Streptococcus of cricetusa, rattusb, mutansc, sobrinsd and mutans e,f and g were exposed to methylene blue at 2.5?10 -4 g/L for 1 h. The metabolism of reactive oxygen and acid production were detected by electron spin trapping method and gas chromatography respectively. Results: Electron spin resonance (ESR) spectrums of DMPO-O - ? 2 and DMPO-OH ? were observed in Streptococcus mutans cultured in glucose fluid, but were not found in those exposed to methylene. The total of acid production by Streptococcus mutans incubated with glucose + methylene blue were significantly lower than that with single glucose. Conclusion: Methylene blue may inhibit oxygen species metabolism and acid production of Streptococcus mutans , it may be used as a kind of dental caries prevention agent.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1986;0(04):-
Store operated calcium channels (SOCCs) are referred to as plasma membrane calcium channels that are opened in response to a depletion of intracellular calcium stores. SOCCs are broadly distributed in excitable and non excitable cells, and may play important roles in conducting intracellular calcium signals, modulations of cell functions and gene expression. Although the current understanding of SOCCs related mechanism is still limited, the physiological significance of SOCCs and their possible links to certain diseases have been suggested. Future study of highly selective SOCCs modulating agents may promote not only related research, but also the development of novel therapeutic drugs.

Objective To determine the median effective concentration (EC50) of remifentanil inhibiting responses to tracheal extubation in patients of Uygur nationality. Methods The patients of Uygur nationality, aged 18-60 yr,of ASA physical status Ⅰ or [Ⅱ,scheduled for elective surgery, were enrolled in this study. After the end of surgery, remifentanil was given by target-controlled infusion until tracheal extubation. The initial target plasma concentration (Cp) of remifentanil was 2.0 ng/ml.The response was defined as positive when MAP and/or HR increased by > 15% of the level at the end of operation and the duration > 15 s during extubation. Each time the target Cp increased/decreased if the cardiovascular response was positive or negative. The ratio between the two successive concentrations was 1.1.The EC50 and 95 % confidence interval of remifentanil blunting responses to extubation was calculated by Probit method. Results Twenty-eight patients completed the study. The EC50 and 95 % confidence interval of remifentanil required for inhibiting the responses to extubation was 1.75 ng/ml and 1.45-2.01 ng/ml.Conclusion The EC50 of remifentanil inhibiting the responses to tracheal extubation is 1.75 ng/ ml in patients of Uygur nationality.

Objective To investigate the appropriate surgical procedure for unilateral papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC).Methods Clinical data of 323 patients with unilateral PTMC in Cancer Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from 1999-2007 were retrospectively studied.Survival outcomes and prognostic factors were analyzed. Results After a median follow-up of 102 (range,12-188) months, the 10-year overall and disease-specific survival was 95.3% and 98.9%.The 10-year recurrence-free survival was 85.5%.The 10-year cumulative recurrence rate of residue glands was 6.5%.Capsular invasion,pT stage and clinical stage were significant predictive factors for recurrence of residue glands (all P < 0.05).Cox regression multivariate analysis showed that pT stage (HR 2.153,95% CI 1.231-3.767,P =0.007) was independent predictive factor.Of the 311 patients treated with non-total thyroidectomy, the 10-year cumulative recurrence rate of residue glands was 6.8% Conclusions Unilateral PTMC has a good prognosis and hemithyroidectomy (lobectomy and isthmusectomy) is an appropriate surgical pattern.Extrathyroidal extension is a significant predictor for recurrence.

Objective To investigate the clinical features of child-onset relapsing polychondritis (CORP). Methods The clinical manifestations of 11 CORP cases were analyzed retrospectively. Results Eleven cases of CORP were collected with Male to Female ratio of 5 ∶6; the mean age of disease onset was (11±4)(3-15) years; and the mean age of final diagnosis was(16±5)(6-22) years-old. The mean time of delay of diagnosis was(55±46)(2-144) month. Nine cases were simple CORP and 2 cases were concurred with SLE and pSS respectively. Laryngotracheal symptoms as initial presentation was seen in 7/11(64%) of cases, followed by rhinitis, eye involvement and arthritis. Laryngotracheal involvement occurred in 10/11 (91%) cases and 6/11(55%) underwent trachectomy when the diagnosis was made, followed by eye and nose involvement (saddle nose)(46% each), involvement of auricular cartilage, vestibule disorder and arthritis (36% each). Elevation of ESR or CRP(36%) were observed and positive autoantibody(18%) were detected in serology study; 9/11 (82%) were treated with steroid combined immunosuppressant. All cases were improvedor stable except 2 cases with exacerbation after upper respiratory infection during the follow-up of mean(27±15)(4-48) month. Conclusion Laryngopharyngeal involvement is the most common phenomenon in CORP and is associated with poor prognosis due to diagnosis delay. Imaging investigation may provide useful evidence for early diagnosis. Aggressive treatment is helpful in improving outcome.
