2. Regulation and control of Angelic sinensis yield by altitude and analysis on key influence factors
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2013;44(14):1990-1994
Objective: To explore the ecological adaptability of Angelic sinensis in altitude of 2300-2800 m in Chabu countryside, Min County, Gansu province. Methods: Using the field experiment and correlation analysis, the effect of altitude on the yield formation was explored, and the key factors affecting yield were investgated. Results: The yield of A. sinensis increased with the elevation rising, the yields in the mid-and high-altitudes were higher than that of low-altitude by 30.3% and 22.0%, with significant difference (P < 0.05); The correlation analysis showed that temperature (R2 = -0.7453) and rainfall (R2 = 0.7417) were the key ecological factors, the malonaldehyde (MDA, R2 = -0.9118) and soluble sugar (SS, R2 = -0.8831) were the key physiological and biochemical factors, and the intercellular CO2 (Ci, R2 = -0.7393) and photosynthetic rate (Pn, R2 = -0.7332) were the key photosynthetic characteristic factors influencing the yield of A. sinensis. Conclusion: That is the benefit of the yield formation of A. sinensis by rising altitudes, reducing environmental temperature, increasing rainfall and photosynthetically active radiation, and reducing the contents of MDA, SS, and Ci.

Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of fenestration in the treatment of dentigerous cyst in mixed dentition stage. Methods From 2004 to 2007, 8 cases of dentigerous cyst in mixed dentition stage were treated, among whom 3 were boys and 5 were girls with ages between 7 and 12 years old. The dentigerous cysts of 2 cases were in superior maxillary bone and the other 6 cases were in inferior maxillary bone. Each of 5 cases had one tooth in dentigerous cyst cavity, and each of the other 3 had 3 teeth in dentigerous cyst cavity. All patients received fenestration under local anesthesia. The patients were followed up for 18 months after fenestration, and the soft tissue healing, facial malformation, permanent teeth eruption and bone tissue healing were observed. Results It was found during follow up that cyst cavity disappeared in all the patients and all had normal facial morphology with no maxillary bone malformation. In five cases, permanent teeth erupted totally and dental occlusion kept normal. In one case, 2/3 of permanent teeth erupted and dental occlusion kept almost normal. While in the other two cases, permanent teeth were to erupt. It was revealed by X ray examinations that the shadow of maxillary bone density decrease disappeared in all the patients. Conclusion Fenestration can keep the teeth and bone in the treatment of dentigerous cyst in the mixed dentition stage.

ObjectiveTo investigate the intelligence characteristics and relativity with motor development of children with spastic diplegia.MethodsIntelligence and motor development of 46 children with spastic diplegia were tested by Wechsler Intelligence Scale and Motor Development Milestone (MDM), to find out difference of intelligence between the children with diplegia and the normal control group.ResultsIntelligence quotient (IQ) of children with spastic diplegia was lower significantly than the normal control, specially performance IQ (PIQ). PIQ was related with motor development. The more delayed motor development was, the more lower PIQ was. Subtest scores of animal egg, puzzle, block design and picture generalization were lower in spastic diplegic children with normal IQ than that of the normal control group, while vocabulary IQ (VIQ) was not different.ConclusionThe intelligence structure of children with spastic diplegia is imbalanced and PIQ of those children is significantly lower than the normal children, which is related to hands-eyes correspond, sight-motor correspond and speed, and space-sight ability.

Objective To investigate the relationship between postoperative cognitive dysfunc-tion and plasma cortisol levels in aged patients undergoing total hip replacement surgery. Methods Ninety patients aged 65-75 years old, scheduled for total hip replacement surgery under general anesthesia were enrolled in the present study.Cognitive state was tested by mini-mental state examination (MMSE).The patients were divided into two groups,POCD group and non-POCD group.Perioperative plasma levels of cortisol were determined on 2 d preoperative,2 d postoperative and 7 d postoperative. Results Incidence of POCD after 7 d in aged patients undergoing total hip re-placement surgery was 37.8%.Compared with day 2 d preoperative, plasma cortisol levels in POCD patients significantly increased on 2 d and 7 d post operation (P <0.01 or P <0.05).Compared with non-POCD patients, cortisol levels on the 2 d and 7 d postoperative day significantly increased in POCD patients (P <0.05).Plasma cortisol levels showed a negative correlation with MMSE scores on postoperative 2 d and 7 d(P <0.01).Conclusion Elderly patients have a relatively higher incidence of POCD after hip replacement surgery.POCD may be caused by high plasma cortisol levels in elderly patients following hip replacement surgery under general anesthesia.

In order to discover some sensitive parameters of eight diastolic function indexes and establish the discriminant equation, twenty-three patients with coronary heart disease (CAD) and eighteen normal adults were studied by radionuclide, Doppler and apexcardiography. The results showed that eight indexes were signicantly different between CAD and normal groups. The discriminant equation was: Z=0.21X1+23.86X2-22.88X3-0.18X4+2.83X5+ 2.06X6+66.86X7+1.66X8. The discriminant score was 42.99. The discriminant function was 100%. The contributive rates of eight indexes were Ev/Av, 1/3FF, A/E-O, PFR, DATI, EDC, IRT ;and l/3FFd from large to small value, respectively. It is concluded that Doppler Ev/Av is the most sensitive diastolic function index of CAD.
