Iron metabolism is involved in cancer initiation, progression, metastasis, and angiogenesis.Ferritin,ferritin receptor,transferrin, and transferrin receptor are often overexpressed in cancers. Not only iron deprivation can inhibit the growth of cancers,but also may suppress matrix metalloproteinases-related metastasis.

The research procedure of dynamic data acquisition and analysis system for body temperature(the body temperature HOLTER) is introduced in this paper.Some aspects of software and hardware technology related to the body temperature HOLTER are discussed emphatically.The system presents a good result through the preliminary application to the clinical practice.

Objective To explore the radiation of the interventional diagnosis and treatment devices in some hospital of Hubei province to the circumstances and staffs.Methods The radiation shielding in the radiological workplace of the hospital was analyzed,and an evaluation model system was established based on dose equivalent level so as to estimate the shielding thickness of DSA machine room and the exposure dose to the staff.Results The designed shielding thickness of DSA machine room roof was tower than the theoretical one,while the designed thicknesses of other shields were higher than the theoretical ones,and the theoretical values of the east wall and roof in the DSA machine room were all higher than the limits of the national standards.The exposure doses to different parts and annual effective dose were all lower than the national limits.Conclusion The allocation of DSA machine room has to be optimized,and the staff gains satisfactory protection against radiation.

The trophoblast is fetal-derived and in direct contact with maternal tissues. The expression of the various types of MHC antigen in trophoblast cells is very important for successful pregnancy. Among nonclassical MHC class Ⅰ antigens, HLA-G is expressed specifically on cytotrophoblast cells and its expression protects the fetal from maternal immune attack. The expression of the distinct subtypes of classical MHC class Ⅰ antigen is different in different subtypes of trophoblast cells. The expression of MHC class Ⅱ antigen is inhibited in trophoblast during pregnancy. It is suggested that C Ⅱ TA plays an important role in regulation of MHC class Ⅱ gene expression.

Objective To study the mechanisms of increasing amyloid [β1-42 (Aβ42) level by presenilin-1 (PS-1) mutation of V97L.Methods Expression level of neprilysin (NEP) in nontransfected, or mock vector, wild type (wt) PS-1 and V97L-PS-1-transfected SH-SY5Y cells were assessed by reverse transcriptional-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blot.The level of Aβ42 was also assessed by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Results The mRNA level of NEP was decreased significantly in PS-1 V97L transfected cells (0.650 ± 0.010) compared to that in normal cells (1.090 ± 0.015), wt PS-1 gene (1.040 ± 0.021) and mock (1.080 ± 0.020) stably transfected cell lines (t = 9.236, 10.452, 5.678; all P < 0.01).Although there was a decreased tendency in the protein expression of NEP in PS-Ⅰ V97L transfected cells (1.000 ± 0.126)compared to that in normal cells (1.020 ± 0.110), wt PS-1 gene (1.040 ±0.110), mock (2.130 ±0.130) stably transfected cell lines, nosignificant differences were found.The expression of Aβ42 was increased significantly in PS-1 V97L transfected cells compared to other cell lines (t = 2.109, 3.355, 3.976; all P < 0.01).Conclusions PS-1 V97L mutation can decrease the transcription of NEP, however, in contrast, this mutation also resulted in increased Aβ42.The mechanism needs further analysis.

OBJECTIVETo study the effectiveness of pie-crusting technique in improving the stiff knee.

METHODSFrom February 2012 to December 2013, 13 patients with stiff knee were reviewed retrospectively. There were 6 males and 7 females, ranging in age from 39 to 70 years old (averaged, 55.6 years old). Of the 13 cases, 8 patients had stiffness following fracture (comminuted tibial plateau fracture in 4, femoral supracondylar fracture in 3 and patellar fracture in 1), 5 patients had TKA-related stiffness.

RESULTSA follow-up lasted 8 to 12 months (mean 10 months)in 13 cases. The mean maximum flexion increased from (37 ± 6)° preoperatively to (52 ± 7)° after arthrolysis, and (108 ± 7)° after pie-crusting. At the final follow-up, mean maximum flexion was (105 ± 6)°. According to Judet evaluation system, 10 patients got an excellent result and 3 good. No major complications, such as extensor lag, skin necrosis, deep infection, dislocation of the patella or recurrent stiffness were found.

CONCLUSIONThe percutaneous technique of pie-crusting is a simple, minimally invasive and effective treatment for knee stiffness.

Objective To observe the change of Toxoplasma g ondii tachyziote in pseudocyst. Methods The mice infected by RH Toxoplasma were treated with mandelic acid (200 mg?kg -1 , twice daily) orally or intravenously, then ascites was taken out to smear in 24 h, 72 h and the time of death, with Giemsa dye and transmission electronic microscope (TEM), the survival time was c alculated. Results Under the light microscope, the cell mem brane of tachyzoite was tortous and broken, the bubble and pelletish material we re observed in cytoplasm, cell nucleus was split; but the cell membrane, organs and nucleus were destroyed more obviously under the TEM than those under the lig ht microscope. Objective To study the effect and mechanism of increase in radio sensitivity of kidney cancer cells(GRC-1) induced by ?-elemenen in vitro. Methods GRC-1 cells were divided into 3 groups, blank group (added with 2 mL culture medium), emulsion group (added with 2 mL blank emulsion culture medium) and drug group (added with 2 mL 50 mg?L -1 ?-elemenen culture medium). After been cultivated for 24 hours, the cells were irradiated using 6MeV X-linear accelerator in different doses at the rate of 400cGy per minute. Number of cell clones was counted, and radiation-survival curve of GRC-1 cells was drawn. Flow cytometry (FCM) was used to measure cell cycle and apoptosis. Cells of climbing flake were dyed by immunocytochemical method, the gene expression of bcl-2 and PCNA was measured by imaging system. Results The cell cycle showed that the G 2M blocking caused by 50 mg?L -1 ?-elemenen was enhanced with time increase. It reached peak at 24 hours. FCM showed that the level of apoptosis increased with increase in drug dose and action time. The gene expression of bcl-2 was decreased by 20% in drug group than that in blank group, but there was no expression of PCNA in the two groups. Conclusion The radiosensitivity of GRC-1 cells can be enhanced by ?-elemenen. The mechanism of effect may be associated with the cell cycle blocking, inducing cell apoptosis and down-regulating expression of bcl-2 gene.
