Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of stellate ganglion block for the treatment of facial paralysis. Methods 128 patients were randomly divided into two groups. Control group was treated by routine therapy , treatment group was treated by routine therapy plus stellate ganglion block. The effects of the two groups were evaluated by facial paralysis scale. Effective rate and cure rate as well as the course of therapy after treatment were also observed and compared. Results The cure rate of treatment group was 65% , effective rate was 98%. The cure rate of control group was 35% .effective rate was 82%. The cure rate and effective rate of treatment group were significantly higher than that of control group (P < 0. 05 ). The mean effective time and cure time of treatment group were shorter than the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Stellate ganglion block plus routine therapy produced better therapeutic effect and shortened the therapeutic course of facial paralysis.

Objective To observe the analgesic effects and safety of morphine combined low-dose ketamine with patient control subcutaneous analgesia(PCSA) for patieats with moderate to severe late cancer pain. Methods 60 patients with moderate to severe late phase cancer pain were randomly average divided into two groups (group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ). 30 patients of group Ⅰ were treated with morphine PCSA and 30 patients of group Ⅱ were treated lowdose ketamine plus morphine PCSA,respectively. The VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) of pain scores were evaluated after treatment 1 h、24 h、48 h. Effects and the rate of side effects were also comparred. Results There was no significant difference in VAS pains scores in each period. Morphine dosage in group Ⅰ (56.43 mmg) was significantly more than that in group Ⅱ (31.23mg) (x~2 =6. 18,P <0.05). Group Ⅱ :The incidence of nausea or vomiting was 4cases (13.3%) ,constipation was 2cases(6. 7%) ,drowsiness was 2cases(6. 7%) ,skin titillation was 0(0.0) ;but Group Ⅰ of it was 21 (70.0%), 18 (60.0%) ,9 (30.0%), 8 (26. 7%), The incidence of group Ⅱ was lower than group Ⅰ .Conclusion Small dosage ketamine combined with morphine patient control subcutaneous analgesia (PCSA) approach appears to provide a safe and effective method for advanced cancer patients with moderate to severe pain.

The parallel-plate flow chamber (PPFC) with rectangular shape, of which the height is far smaller than its own length and width, is one of the main apparatus for in vitro studies of the mechanical behavior of the cells. Considering that the Reynolds numbers of flows in the usually used PPFCs are small, a perturbation solution of laminar pulsatile Casson fluid in the PPFC is presented using Reynolds number as perturbation parameter. Furthermore, the velocities and shear stresses in the PPFC are given. The numerical results demonstrate that under the same pressure gradient the shear stresses are almost identical between Casson fluid and Newtonian fluid, whereas under the same flux the shear stresses are obviously different between Casson fluid and Newtonian fluid. The results in this paper provide a theoretical way to determine the shear stresses in the parallel-plate flow chamber under pulsatile Casson fluid.

[Objective] To investigate the mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) in treating acute lung injury (ALI) via ALI mouse model.[Methods] By monoclonal antibody Anti-GD2 of specific antigen ganglioside (GD2) only expressed on MSC as a carrier, new fluorescent molecule probe were synthesized through covalently coupling Anti-GD2 and fluorescent group CyDye mono-reactive NHS Esters (Cy7).Synthetic Anti-GD2-Cy7 and MSC were labeled by the specific binding of antigen and antibody in vitro.Total 84 balb/c male mice were selected and randomly selected 48 mice were divided into three groups:sham group (n =16),MSC+ ALI group (n =16),NS + ALI group (n =16).The lung histopathology and scores, lung W/D ratio and permeability of lung microvasculature were examined at 24 h,48 h after ALI mouse model.Other 36 mice were randomly divided into three groups:normal group (n =12),sham group(n =12),MSC +ALI group(n =12).Labeled MSC-GD2-Cy7 were transplanted into MSC+ALI group and sham group mice via tail vein injection. At 30 min,1 d,3 d,and 7 d post-MSC-GD2-Cy7 injection, the mice were sacrificed after anesthesia and then the lung was removed.Excised lung was detected on small animal fluorescent imager.[Results] Contrast to NS+ ALI group, the lung histopathology and scores, lung W/D ratio and permeability of lung microvasculature of MSC +ALI group were more greatly improved at both 24 h and 48 h.Fluorescent results showed that the signal intensity in thc lung of MSC +ALI group was significantly higher than that of sham group at each time point [(3.37 ± 0.02)× 10-4 vs (2.05 ± 0.04) × 10-4 scaled counts/s;(35.54 ± 0.47)× 10-4 vs (25.29 ± 1.48) × 10-4 scaled counts/s;(11.17 ± 0.75)×10-4 vs (6.09 ± 0.62)× 10-4 scaled counts/s;(3.10 ± 0.14) vs (0.00 ± 0.00)× 10-4 scaled counts/s;all P < 0.05].[Conclusion] Our study showed that a proportion of cells migrated into normal and injured lungs 30 min after cell transplantation, and the cells started to recruit and largely gather in injured lungs at day 1 and persisted to day 7,these results suggest that MSC possess the ability to home into injured tissues.

Several types of molecules, including the small non-coding RNAs, are involved in the precision regulation of neural development. The expression of microRNAs appears in a specific spatialtemporal sequence during the neural development, and abnormal expression may lead to neural dysplasia. MicroRNAs also play important roles in the regulation of cell biological behaviors in terms of survival, proliferation and differentiation. Neural stem cells are the mother cell of the nervous system. The proliferation, differentiation and migration of neural stem cells are tightly controlled so as to generate appropriate number and phenotype of daughter cells to ensure normal neural development. MicroRNAs are involved in the regulation of neural stem cell proliferation and differentiation via affecting the expression and function of their target mRNAs.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2013;33(12):1752-1756
OBJECTIVETo investigate the inhibitory effects of curcumin against HeLa cell invasion and migration and explore the underlying mechanisms.
METHODSHeLa cells were exposed to curcumin treatment at the concentrations of 0, 10, 25, 50, 100, 150 and 200 µmol/L for 24 h. MTT and TUNEL assays were used to assess the cell proliferation inhibition and apoptosis, respectively. Transwell assay was used to evaluate the invasiveness and migration of the treated cells, and RT-PCR and Western blotting were employed to detect the changes in the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and MMP-9 and E-cad, the 2 markers of cell invasion and migration, were detected by Western blotting. The capacity of NO production in HeLa cells was measured by Griess method.
RESULTSCurcumin inhibited the proliferation of HeLa cells by inducing cell apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner. Curcumin inhibited the invasion and migration of HeLa cells by increasing E-cad expression and decreasing MMP-9 expression, and also decreased the expression level of iNOS and NO production in the cells.
CONCLUSIONCurcumin inhibits the invasion and migration of HeLa cells by decreasing the expression of iNOS.
